Macy's Ad in Glamour- November 2010
Check it out!!

Pegged pants.

Remember those...circa 1980 something?

I was so excited when I saw that ad...woot woot...pegged pants are coming back!!!

Short chicks shout and cheer...no more tattered pant hems!!

Then I checked the date on my Glamour...November 2010.

Hmm...seems the magazines my mailman dutifully delivers day  after day have stacked up.

I figured I was a few months behind in my reading.

But no.

 I'm not MONTHS...I'm YEARS behind!!

Sadly, it seems pegged pants didn't catch on...but there is this new HBO show coming out...Game of Thrones...have you heard of it? Looks good...maybe I'll check that out...

But seriously, now that the kids are back in school, I am scrapping the to-do-list for a to-do notebook full of items and I am committed to getting myself up to speed with 2012.

First thing to catch up on? A big thanks to Mark Koopmans for selecting my entry in the "What If..." blogfest for comedy. Mark is a little twisted. Mine was a serious entry about the ill effects of trusting the big bad wolf. You can read it HERE and decide for yourself if it's comedy or a public service.

And thanks to the other hosts of the blogfest...Leigh Covington, Cassie Mae, and Morgan Shamy. It was a genius idea and even though I am behind on reading all the wonderful entries, I am going to get to them. They are in my to-do notebook and I will get to them ASAP or by 2014, whichever comes first.

  1. I think your entry was both comedic and a public service announcement about safe sex. Trust me you're not the only one behind on your to do list. But I have one thing accomplished. As of August 11, 2012 I'm a proud Kindle owner. *Applause*

My special list though is one I wrote in 2009 after watching an Oprah show episode about a woman who did the same thing. I can't look at it again until 2019 (that's the pledge, write a list of things you want to accomplish in ten years and don't open the envelope until ten years to the date). I saw the letter again the other day and had to fight with all my will power not to open it. Just seven more years *sigh*. One of the things I remember pledging though is solving the killing of my cousin who got shot. I don't know why I felt being a detective was in my top ten but I wrote it. So among the other 9 things I have seven years to accomplish, I need to see if I can help catch a real life murderer. WHAT WAS I THINKING! I will still try though.

Enough about myself. How have you been Liz?

    1. I can see why you'd add solving a murder when it's soemone you love. That's got to be torment to know someone stole a life precious to you and got away with it. But we know, there is a final judge and NO ONE can hide from Him.

I love life affecting Oprah. She has been a big influence in my life since I was 16. I may not always agree with her, but I always have a soft spot in my heart for her!

I've been good. Sent my baby off to college. I miss him, but I'm excited for him. It's hard to be sad when your kids are happy. Got to finish up my blurb (still haven't done it!) and get to work on my read through so I can get it to publisher for edits.

      Thanks for asking. :)

  2. I did the same thing at the hairdresser's the other day. I was flipping through the magazines, getting make-up tips (I'm so useless with make-up it's embarrassing!), and realised I was looking at something from Jan 2011. I was unsure whether I'd look silly if I turned up to drinks with friends with a face designed in Jan 2011.

My advice to you - roll up them jeans anyway. I still wear jeans that I've had for several years, and I don't care!

    1. High five you on that one Annalisa! I will NEVER be confused with a fashion plate. Most days, I don't wear any make-up. I'm honestly too lazy, though I pretend it's because it's healthy for my skin to breathe.

But hey, if I do peg my jeans and the trend comes back...we can say I started it ;)

    2. Precisely. Why follow fashion when you can start it!

    3. YEAH!!
(Now watch for me on the pages of what not to wear with a black bar over my face!)

    1. I hear ya! I often wish I could function on less sleep, but I need at least 6 hours.

  4. Your entry was undoubtedly one of the best!

Good thing the pegged pants thing didn't fully come back. What would we do with all those flared and bootcut jeans? Rolling them wouldn't work.

    1. I still remember how to sew the wide legs to a tapered leg...I mean where there's a will, there's a way right?

  5. Who has time to read magazines? I can barely read a book! :)

Here's hoping fall will be productive for you, Elizabeth. Congrats on your win!

    1. That's normally true, but my iPod crashed and died and I lost all my downloaded books. So, I grabbed a magazine off the stack as I headed out the door. (I like to have something to read while I wait for coaches to send my kid to the car.)
