Holiday Goodies!!!
Just sayin'....
******
Tis the season and there are good things to share. I've been hoarding them all...just waiting for today...
I barely left my house to shop this holiday season. Spent Black Friday curled up on my couch watching football and eating left over turkey.
Am I joining the anti-capitalist and refusing to shop this season? Not hardly!!
I'm doing the online shopping, baby! The UPS man visits my house so often, the neighbors probably think we have a thing going on.
And the best part of the online shopping experience?
They should pay me for the ad, right? Well, they will if you tell them I sent you. But that's work, so screw it. Just go shop and save some money. |

This year, I'm hosting the family Christmas party. I plan to keep things simple- hot dog bar anyone?
Our family has a lot of little kids, so to offset my lame menu- I found these awesome crafts to make my party a step above a visit to McDonald's.
Isn't this awesome?

Another awesome, awesome idea I plan to do this year is one I got from the talented writer of Christian fiction, Jesse Andersen. Using a table cloth as a family history record! Love it. I wish I had thought of this when my kids drew pictures that never involved penises and boobs. I'm not at all sure what it is about teen boys and the obsession with body parts.
This is Jesse pic of her family's tablecloth. |
I have good news too!! Fate Intended is a finalist in the AuthorsdB cover contest. Special thanks to Lindsay Anne Kendall for her hard work. Working with an author (specifically, this one) has to be a pain in the butt.

That's not all the good stuff I've got to tell you about-
The delightfully talented Medeia Shariff has another book coming. This lady has oodles of talent, so this one gets added to the top of my to read list.
VITAMINS AND DEATH, Prizm Books/Torquere Press, December 10, 2014
Purchase from Prizm, Amazon – Vendor sites will be updated on the author’s site.
Deidra Battle wants nothing more than to be invisible. After her mother, a public school teacher, engages in an embarrassing teacher-student affair at Lincoln High, they relocate to a different neighborhood and school. Being her mother's briefcase, Deidra joins her mother at her new workplace, Hodge High. Since her mother has reverted to her maiden name and changed her appearance, she thinks no one will figure out they're the Battles from recent news and that they're safe. Neither of them is. Hodge brings a fresh set of bullies who discover details about the scandal that changed Deidra's life. Feeling trapped at home with an emotionally abusive, pill-addicted mother and at school with hostile classmates who attempt to assault and blackmail her, Deidra yearns for freedom, even if she has to act out of character and hurt others in the process. Freedom comes at a price.

Wow, a news hoarder today at your sea lol never knew about ebates, that is a nice chunk of change to get back indeed. Hotdogs are easy to do to.
ReplyDeleteI can't keep pace with the cats at your sea Pat, so a hoarder I must be!
DeleteI've done about 90% of my Christmas shopping this year online, too. Gotta love Ebates :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it awesome? The only downside is more returns. I've gotten several things in the mail that aren't quite what I expected from the online pictures.
DeleteActually a hot dog bar sounds pretty yummy! There could be relish and chili and cheese... Sounds good to me! =) And I love the snowman craft, such a neat idea, I'm going to have to do that w/the kidlet. And congrats on being a finalist!!
ReplyDeleteI am a genius at being lazy Leandra. I wish I had seen it when my kids were little. Now I'd have to have bulbs the size of basketballs.
DeleteThe table cloth idea is super! I may have to steal that.
ReplyDeleteYou must! Stealing is highly recommended.
DeleteI've never heard of Ebates. I love the ornament idea.
ReplyDeleteThank you for featuring my book.
I must say, I was skeptical of Ebates (I'm a firm believer in if something is too good to be true...then it is), but it's simple and easy. Not every store participates, but I always check.
DeleteWell, if it's any consolation, my son is 6 and his obsession is with body noises...I'm sure you remember those days, lol Good thing he can't draw farts...wait...yes he can. :P Anyway, great ideas you've got up there, and have fun during your Christmas party! I haven't had a proper hotdog it years!!! Oh and I sent you an email with a picture of what my kids and I did last week..... you and I are totally on the same wave length...AGAIN! :D
ReplyDeleteHate to tell you, but the obsession with farts stays with them. Mine have turned them into a game. When they fart, they yell door knob, touch a doorknob, and if you don't find a doorknob quickly enough, you get punched. Of course, kill joy mom never plays. I don't like farts or being punched.
DeleteOff to my inbox!! So excited. I love that we share a wave length :)
Oooh I love those ideas, especially the finger print one! Fabulous. I'n heading overseas for Christmas this year - I'm so excited - so we've not done much shopping but Ebates sounds fab. It's probably US only though, but I'll check it out just in case! xx
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it's US only or not. Never thought of that!
DeleteHave a great holiday Suzy!!
You could clear up the crime in your area by sharing those decorations with your town :-) Congrats on being a finalist for the cover.
ReplyDeleteThere you go- start of a criminal data base!
DeleteKilroy said, "Just thought I'd say hi."
ReplyDeleteHowdy partner.
DeleteAwesome you were a finalist!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip about that site.
And I like female body parts...
Mine are obsessed with female body parts, but add the male body parts- mostly for adding smack talk.
Deletethanks for the Ebates info. I'll check it out.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being a finalist. Fate Intended is an interesting title. I like it.
Medeia's new book, another school themed story, seems mysterious. The last sentence, "Freedom comes with a price," says a lot.
Thanks Peaches! I liked that title too- sometimes I feel clever.
DeleteI started Medeia's book yesterday. Excellent read.
I'm with you on the shopping. I didn't set foot in a single store on Black Friday. I did it all online. I didn't use the Ebates site, so I didn't get all of that cash back :(
ReplyDeleteOn the plus side, I didn't feel stressed either! So, it's still good:)
I love that tablecloth idea. I wish someone had thought of that when I was a kid. It would be cool to have words immortalized from loved ones now passed. I'm so glad you are bringing it to your celebration this year.
Congrats on your book being part of the covers contest (I'll be honest, I have no idea what that is... aside from being a contest of covers), but I hope you win!!!
It was so nice not to be out in the cold among the crowds. Christmas should be easy and pleasant! I wish I'd have thought of the table cloth long ago too. I saw online where some cross stitch the writing- awesome idea- that would make it permanent.
Delete(I don't really know what the contest is all about either, just always excited to win anything!)
Wow! So much good news! Congrats on your cover being a finalist! Congrats to Medeia too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for mentioning Fantasy Uprising too! :)
DeleteThanks Cherie! It was my pleasure to share a good deal!
DeleteSuch a funny comic! I loved the arts and crafts - they were just lovely! I registered and voted for your son. Wishing him good luck! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lexa. You're pretty super awesome.
DeleteLove your Black Friday day. I hid at home too and enjoyed the down time. Great ornaments!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if the crowds and the fuss is worth saving even a hundred dollars.
DeleteWhoops! Meant to congratulate you on being a finalist for your cover. Hurray.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lee!
DeleteCongratulations on being a finalist! That's awesome. Love those craft ideas. I shall have to get my little guy to make a decoration like that. Have a great weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteYour little guy is the perfect age for it.
DeleteUh, I'm totally using ebates. LOL. And OMG! That table cloth is the best idea ever!
ReplyDeleteEbates is awesome. And I need to find me a table cloth!
DeleteLOL That cartoon is great.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being a finalist!
Thanks Carrie!!
DeleteWoo hoo! Congratulations on final-ing! And that is a bunch of great news you've been hoarding. Thanks for passing along the ebates info. And yes, Medeia's book sounds great. Love all this great news over here! :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes hoarding is a good thing ;)
Deletehaha the UPS guy is seriously my family's BFF. And I LOVE EBATES. it's the best. and congrats on being a finalist!
ReplyDeleteMy UPS probably hates me. We live on a hill. No one likes to climb our steps.
DeleteI drew a masterpiece on the paper tablecloth they gave me at an Italian restaurant a few months ago, but no one seemed very keen on preserving that as a keepsake.
ReplyDeleteAlso, cheers to online holiday shopping! I've bought everything on Amazon, and have not had to trade elbows with a single person during this holiday shopping madness.
I've cut out and kept my kids' masterpieces drawn on paper table cloths. I spoke at my high school alumni this year and my kids were in the audience. Evidently, I bored them bc they wrote smack talk notes to each other on the table cloth. The cleaners found them and pointed them out- I of course ripped them out and took them home.
DeleteYou are the Queen of Fun!
ReplyDeleteLove Madeira's book cover.
Hugs, my friend!
I am so much fun- when I'm not being a bitch. LOL
DeleteHugs back to you!!!
Hi, Elizabeth,
ReplyDeleteI like the entertainment idea for the kids. Congrats on the cover contest. Hope you make it all the way to the winner's circle. Congrats to Medeia.
Thanks! I made it to bronze :)
DeleteI did a lot of mine online. For some reason, this year I had to do a lot of little things that seemed to be endless. I'm going to Bath & Body Works to pick up gifts for a small group of people I had left on my list for little things. Just when I thought I was finished, there's one more thing I have to run out to do!
ReplyDeleteSeems there is always one more thing to do.. I don't think I am ever truly done, I just have to call it good enough and walk away.
DeleteWow! Lots of awesome news! We did some shopping in the stores and some online . . . and then there is the kid who just wants cash . . . so that's easy, if not all that exciting. :)
ReplyDeleteLove your ideas for your family Christmas party! That's great!
Cash is definitely a much easier option!
DeleteEbates?! Omgosh, I'm gonna have to check that out! I've been doing most of my shopping on trusty 'ole Amazon, but if I can earn money back, count me in!
ReplyDeleteThe ornaments look awesome, and yes, what a great way to grab a fingerprint. Hehe. :)
Have a wonderful Christmas, Elizabeth!
Ebates is easy. I love it!
DeleteHope you had a great holiday :)
and that's the way you shop!! the Christmas ornaments is such a cute idea!!!! bloody brilliant babe
ReplyDeleteThanks chick a dee!!
DeleteWow, lots of good stuff here! The Christmas bulbs, the table cloth. And the books!!!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Elizabeth!
Hope you had a great Christmas too Gwen :)
DeleteA hot dog bar sounds awesome. The table cloth is a great idea. Merry Christmas to you! Thanks for mentioning the boxed set.
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure. Hope you had some awesome sales!
DeleteHotdog bar sounds great to me! I've done virtual Christmas shopping for years, and am a total fan. The ornaments are gorgeous - a great idea! Enjoy your Christmas!
ReplyDeleteOnline shopping is the way to go, though I'm not sure the UPS man was as excited to have to carry all the packages up our steps!
DeleteOh, I love that table cloth idea. I might have to do something like that (before the kid gets too old to be trusted with stuff like that..
ReplyDeleteOh, and I tagged you over on my blog.
I'm late getting around. I'll have to go check out the tag! Thanks :)
DeleteLOL I love that top cartoon. :D
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on Fate Intended! That is a great cover and I'm not surprised it is a finalist. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Thanks Julie!! I hope your holiday was wonderful!
DeleteAwesome news about Fate Intended!!
ReplyDeleteI just bought those two bargain books :)
Mmmm, hotdogs! We have a picnic at the beach in the morning, then some sort of lunch at some family member's place.
Have a great holiday season! xx
