You're Lucky You're Cute...

I often wonder why God made us.

Truthfully?

We're pains in the derriere.

We're stubborn. We're proud.

We break the rules, then blame Him when life goes wrong.

And how annoying is it that we only get in touch when we want something?

I mean who in their right mind asks for the trouble of humans?

I figure if God and the angels were hangin' solo on earth, this would be a pretty sweet place.

But He made us.

Hmmm...I wonder...

This is Grizzly. He likes to roll in dog poop and has been known to pee on the wall.

This is Mayzie. She tries to eat the fish out of the bowl, drinks too much water, then barfs behind the TV.

This is Spot. She has an eating disorder. Today she ripped open a package of flour and tried to eat it.

This is Caleb, Cole, Carter, and Conner. This week I had to replace two pairs of cleats, two pairs of jeans, and one couch cushion. Then they had the audacity to ask for Halo 4.

Honestly? Life would be simpler minus pets and children....

But who wants that?!

I love them.

I would do anything for them, even when I'd enjoy choking them.

Now I wonder...

Do you think God ever rolls his eyes and says, "It's a damn good thing you're cute"?

    1. They are, aren't they? It's impossible to stay mad at them for long.

  2. I think that's exactly what He says. It's definitely what I say to my kids :-)

    1. I say that at least a few times a day. Sometimes to the hubs too.

  3. Elizabeth, I think of this ALL the time. So glad you mentioned it. I wouldn't trade my kids an dog for the world but there are days I wonder why I bother.

The fact we're here and breathing shows how much God really loves us. Something so important to remember. I just love this post! :)

    1. Thanks PK! Imagine how much cleaner our houses would be; how much more money we'd have to spend on shoes? But they bring a joy that can't be explained.

  4. Great post Elizabeth! I tell my daughter that she must crack God up listening to her nightly prayers.
A classic I overheard one night, "And if it's not too much trouble Lord can you pah-leease make my sister chew with her mouth shut, because you know, that's just nasty." LOL

And my life wouldn't be any kind of fun without my kids or my pets either.

    1. Love it! Kids know what's important in life...I mean she's doing her sister a favor...chew with your mouth open on a date and she may not ever get a second one.

Life is definitely crazy with kids and pets, but they bring the awesome to life!

  5. Hehe! I know I wonder that when I'm cleaning up the cats' hairballs and their litter box. :)

    1. How could I have forgotten the hair balls?! Oh man, they are all sorts of nasty. The hairballs beat the litter box, though that's no treat!

  7. That's awesome, and yes, definitely. It's a damn good thing you're cute.

And from experience, my dog ate my couch then had the audacity to look at me as if to say "Mom, my tummy hurts."

    1. Oh man, that's pretty bold. It's in the eyes. God was smart to give them adorable eyes that can plead their cases for them and tug at our heart strings.

  10. LOL! Oh my gosh - we think so much alike! I love it! My kids were driving me CRAZY the other day - like seriously want to strangle them - CRAZY! Then they went to bed and my 3 year old fell asleep on the bed next to me snoring her cute little head off and all I wanted to do was snuggle her.

    1. My kids were always the most beautiful when they slept. If I ever have bouts of insomnia, I have to do is curl up on their floor and their snores would knock me right out.

    1. Well said Tara. Pets (well maybe not mine...lol) are more obedient and so much less demanding than humans! Give a dog some kibbles and an old smelly blanket and they're living the good life.
