Some Days, Crap Happens

 My morning started like this...

Last night, I stuck a Diet Coke in the freezer to get it icy cold. I forgot about it and woke up to a cola bomb.

Whatever.

I decided I'd clean it later.

I needed to browse work email, eat my breakfast, and take my dog to the vet.

I'd found a lump on her leg and me being the calm, rational person that I am, feared the worst (cancer) and made an emergency appointment.

Since mishaps with appliances was the theme of the day, I blew up some oatmeal in the microwave and let the coffee maker empty onto the counter.

It could've been a bad start to my day. For a tiny moment, I thought–

Never mind what I thought. It's not fit for print and it was only in my brain for a half a beat before I reminded myself of one of my core beliefs:

Something good is headed my way!

The devil always tries to screw with people when good things are coming.

Don't surrender the peace. Swerve the hurdles and keep on keeping on.

My good news? Artemis is as healthy as she is happy. The lump on her leg is only a cyst.
Good news was coming.

Happy Birthday to my handsome husband.
He's better than any hero ever written.

Chad and Violet...plotting some shenanigans, I'm sure!

  1. Kitchen mishaps are the worst! Happy birthday to Chad, and Violet definitely looks like she is plotting something in that photo. Very cute!

    1. Doesn't she look ornery? That's the Grandad influence on her!

    1. My job is done for the day. Making at least one person a day smile is the goal.

  3. Yeah. Some days, right? And Happy Birthday to your hubby. You gave him such a great tribute in just a few words. You must be a writer! :)

    1. Oh, I like to daydream and put it on paper. I guess that's writing. LOL

  4. Wow, that's a lot to handle in one day! Well done for keeping your cool. Dogs and lumps can be a nightmare. Artoo has one in his abdomen which we keep an eye on but is unchanged and therefore absolutely fine. As with humans though, it's always best to get it checked.

    1. Yes, if she and Artoo were humans, we'd be scheduling biopsies. Hopefully, Artoo's stays static as well. Hugs!

  5. Mama said there'd be days like this. There'd be days like this Mama said. My friend has a curse and blessing theory. Similar to your devil and good things. For every curse, like the coke blowing up in the fridge, there's a blessing. Like your sweet pupper only having a cyst

    1. That's a perfect way of putting it. Sums up my theory to a tee.

Sorry about the freezer. That's quite the mess.

    1. It was great news! I suppose the freezer needs a good cleaning anyhow.

  7. That's wonderful about Artemis! We went through the lump on the leg with our cat Spunky and sadly it was cancer.

My husband is always putting drinks in the freezer to chill. I'll have to show him your photo! I'm not cleaning that kind of mess up.

    1. I'm so sorry to hear about Spunky. I hate saying good bye to my furry friends.

Yep, show him. Tell him the picture doesn't do it justice. Everything in the freezer has a coating of cola on it.

  8. I've made some soda popcicles by mistake, too. I'm glad Artemis is okay, and Happy Birthday to your husband.

    Love,

    1. But when you remember to take it out just at the right stage of slushy, it's so delicious. I'd like to say I learned my lesson, but I'll be doing it again. LOL
