Dear Peeps, This month I... |
I'm back, crawling out of my edit cave. Edits and final chapters always turn me into a peculiar creature. I can write chapters 1-40 and keep my real life together (for the most part!). I can set writing goals and shut the computer down when I hit them. But when I hit those "homestretches" I'd happily forgo meals to finish. I suppose that's good for the books, but not so much for the people who live with me.
Today, for lunch, my husband took crackers and a can of tuna to work. I brought a peanut butter sandwich made from banana bread. Did you guess we're out of bread and I didn't want to waste time last night shopping because I was so close to The End that nothing else mattered?
If you said yes, then you guessed right.
So, for my efforts here is the latest coming soons...
From Around the Web...
Whenever I blog or am on social media, I always jot down all the good stuff I bump into. I have notebooks filled with tips, sayings, and things I thought were funny, I figured what better place to share than on the end of the month catch-all-catch-up?
Coming May 2020 from Dancing Lemur Press- the IWSG Anthology!
Some web wisdom...
Also, on a much more serious note, blogger friend and fellow writer R. Mac Wheeler was in a motorcycle wreck. Hopefully, he's using his convalescing time to read and write. If you're reading this, Mac- you're in my thoughts and prayers!
That was definitely from the Cat.
ReplyDeleteTuna and crackers isn't the worst thing. If he wanted more, he could make his own lunch.
He did pack it- from what was available. LOL
DeleteLove the web wisdom.
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate you taking time away from editing when you are in the home stretch to beta read for me. You're the best:)
AND...pb on banana bread sounds delish. Who needs regular bread. Heh.
Hugs
Yep, PB&J is so yesterday. I started a new trend.
DeleteYour story was a pleasure to read. And it didn't lose me any editing time. I put it on my kindle and when I had free reading time, I read it. worked perfectly. I was getting worried I was going too slowly or would pleasure read and have to go back with editing eyes. LOL
My hubby takes tuna in one of those little packets like two or three times a week! I'm the same way as you, though. Right at the end with the final edits, I have to get them done no matter what. Good luck and YAY for you!
ReplyDeleteIt's like the light at the end of the tunnel- you have to get there!!
DeletePeanut butter on banana bread sounds amazing! Tuna, I can live without. Yay with getting the edits done :)
ReplyDeleteIt was good. I like tuna, but I need mayo. And bread.
Deletelol well the cat can shoulder all the blame for both. He's got an ego.
ReplyDeleteHey, at least he didn't go hungry.
The cat would approve of the diet, I'm sure!
DeleteI just joined an author service that says its software lets you format quick and easy. I've tried it from scratch, but it was above my head.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't do very well in your house, don't like canned tuna and don't much like PB. However, I hope the edits are going well. Next time you have a book in the works you should make stuff for the freezer before you get stuck in then Chad, and you for that matter, will have something healthy to eat. What made you change the title by the way?
ReplyDeleteMaking meals ahead would be a much better way to do it, but I'm not even really all that good at making a menu. I used to meal prep every Sunday when I was working in social work. Then I got out of the habit.
DeleteI changed the name because there will be two more books off of this story and I wanted the titles to be similar. SO, I came up with a few new ones, posted them to my Dreamers page and let readers vote and they chose About Us, then the next story will be Shelley's and it will be About Her, and then the third will probably be Cam's dad and it will be About Him.
BTW, are you a Dreamer? If not, I need to add you, for sure!
Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteAND...your editing time was purrfect:)
Hugs,
Yay!!! Happy to hear that!
DeleteYou have a great week!
Peanut butter on banana bread sounds like a treat! You may have something there, the next recipe craze. LOL
ReplyDeleteIt is really good. A decadent peanut butter and nanner sandwich. LOL
DeletePeanut butter on banana bread sounds like dessert! Yay you pushing through to the end.
ReplyDeleteNoooo, it's health food. Protein and fruit...that has to be good for you, right?
DeleteSo true about professional edits. I would never want a writer to accept every correction and comment I make without examining it.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I almost always accept them all, but Carolyn is right, it's a great way to learn and produce a cleaner manuscript each time.
DeleteLiked all the web wisdom. Sorry about Mac. Hope he recovers fast.
ReplyDeleteI know. That's a lot to happen in a week. We ned to keep checking in on our favorite hermit.
DeleteAwesome on finishing off the edits. The Web wisdom are all so good.
ReplyDeleteI always write down all the quotes and tidbits that tickle me and thought- I really should share these. It would be fun!
DeleteTuna & crackers and peanut butter & banana bread both sound like excellent lunches to me. Who needs bread? If somebody else in the family wanted it, he could've gone to the store himself. Besides, you've gotta have your priorities straight, and crossing that editing finish line becomes more urgent the closer you get to it. You go, girl!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right. You have yo maintain that momentum and keep right on going.
DeleteDefinitely you have to step away for the edits. So important! Sounds like my helpless husband. LOL Banana bread, yum!
ReplyDeleteYou really do. Maybe it's that you need all your focus to really get at them. I wouldn't call my husband helpless, he knows how to order a pizza both online and over the phone. LOL
DeleteWait, there's a problem with peanut butter on banana bread? Sounds like a gourmet treat to me.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Your book looks wonderful.
Keep on keeping on, remarkable woman.
That is the secret of life- to keep on keeping on.
DeleteHugs equally remarkable lady.
Ah, I'm a bit wrapped up in that must-finish mindset myself. Unfortunately, my kids and husband won't let me ignore them.
ReplyDeleteYour kiddos are a bit smaller than mine, so it's understandable that they won't let you off the hook.
DeleteCan't wait till About Us goes from coming soon to new release:)
ReplyDeleteHugs
