Do I have your attention? Good. The IWSG has some important stuff to share. |
DUE TO NEW YEAR'S DAY FALLING ON A WEDNESDAY, WE WILL BE POSTING JANUARY 8 RATHER THAN JANUARY 1!
Did you get that? You marked it on your calendar and everything, right?
Good. Let's move on.
My insecurity for this month...
I do the monthly IWSG newsletter. In that newsletter, we share your new releases and other exciting news. It's a free perk for being a member of the IWSG. The problem...unless you message me, I am resistant to adding any shout-outs to the newsletter, eventhough I may see them as I make my blog rounds.
Why?
Because I'm a cranky old goat who inists people follow rules? Not at all. I don't even have a tail and I'm usuually the first person to break rules. The reason I won't add new release shout outs to the newsletter without a request is because I know I'm not able to visit every blog and I will miss something, which in turn would be rude to those members I miss.
So, if you have a new book coming out and you're a member of the IWSG, we'd love to help you spread the word. Email me at elizabethseckman (at) ymail.com. Add IWSG Shout Out to the subject line and let us help you.
Now, onto the question of the month where we play the game of where would this writer like to be in the future. Well now, if I'm doing the picking, ya'll will just have to get used to contacting me via message in a bottle because I'm going to be so stinkling rich, I'm going to buy myself an island.
This month's IWSG has been brought to you by the Ninja master and this month's side kicks: Tonja Drecker, Beverly Stowe McClure, Nicki Elson, Tyrean Martinson!

Your own island - nice!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the winners!
I'll probably only survive a few days before I need internet.
DeleteWow, when you dream, you dream big, girl! Well, if an island you want, I hope an island you get. Better get to writing that next book...
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all of the winners for the next anthology! (I LOVE that "you otter be proud" GIF. Too cute!)
No time to write, too many dreams to think on. LOL
DeleteYay for the anthology winners!
ReplyDeleteTook your advice to heart and just sent you an email :)
An island sounds great - can we come visit?
You most certainly can visit! Bring your boat on by any time. By the time I have my island, I assume you'll be cruising in a yacht.
DeleteYay! I much prefer the emails. Gone will be the worry of missing someone's book. I am sporadic in my blogging,
Makes sense on people letting you know about new releases. Doesn't sound cranky to me at all.
ReplyDeleteYes on the island!
Yeh for all the winners! And I love that otter pic so much!
I suppose cranky isn't the word, more like guilt-ridden. I'd see people's books and think- I should add that to the newsletter. But then I'd worry about all the member's books I wasn't seeing and I'd feel like I was playong favorites. It's tough being an obsesssive over-thinker.
DeleteStinking rich! I can live with that.
ReplyDeleteThere might be some learning curves, but life is about growing.
DeleteThat otter gif is the best thing I've seen today. OMG otters are the cutest things. Thanks for all you do with the IWSG newsletter! I only hope I have a release to share at some point again. It's been so long I've forgotten how that works LOL.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and your family!
You're going to do it if we have to sick the entire IWSG team on you! The IWSG was my first and still my favorite home as a writer. I probably would have given up without the access to the group's knowledge and support.
DeleteMerry Christmas to you too!
OMG, I am in love with that otter. How adorable is that? An island sounds good and with enough dough, you can have all of your groceries delivered and all of your laundry sent out. Ah, paradise...
ReplyDeleteIf not a runaway best seller, then I suppose I can always count on winning the lottery.
DeleteCongratulations to the winners! Oooh... can we visit Elizabeth Island for writer retreats? ;)
ReplyDeleteThat would be an awesome idea. You'll get your invite as soon as I get my island.
DeleteOtters are so popular.
ReplyDeleteI will make a note to send you info for our next release.
My brain is a chaotic place. The more reminders, the better.
DeleteYou would be bored stiff on your own island Liz. Love the otter pic in particular. Congratulations to the winners.
ReplyDeleteLately, I've been so busy, I can't imagine ever being bored. But you're probably right. I'll just keep it for holidays and vacations.
DeleteCan I come visit? I love islands! What a great idea. Can't wait to read the anthology!
ReplyDeleteOf course! Our own private retreat.
DeleteGive me your island coordinates and I'll stop by! Congrats to the winners and here's wishing everyone a wonderful new year.
ReplyDeleteMost certainly! We could have a heck of a writer retreat.
DeleteI want to come visit your island too! Happy Holidays! And congrats to the anthology winners!
ReplyDeleteCome on over! I suppose I should add boat service...
DeleteI love the island idea!!! I imagine it's tropical, right?
ReplyDeleteI hope I can come visit someday. :)
Happy writing in December, and Merry Christmas early!
Most certainly tropical. We need ot be warm. It's going to be an awesome party and of course, you're invited.
DeleteHeh, you know, I think most writers, if they were living the dream, would get away from other people. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, I could imagine the newsletter is a lot of work. Thanks for all you do!
Are we strange creatures to enjoy alone time so much? But you're right. I look forward to quiet.
DeleteCongratulations to the winners! :) Hopefully no one is questioning your reasoning, but your explanation makes absolute perfect sense.
ReplyDeleteQuestion me? Never. LOL
DeleteAn island would be awesome. I'm betting your sons would be visiting quite often (I know my kids would). Congrats to the winners!
ReplyDeleteI keep tellinmg my husband we need to buy a beach house to lure them in for visits.
DeleteBut do you have maid service to clean your whole island for you? Seems reasonable with the newsletter too. Makes sense.
ReplyDeleteA maid is needed and a cook. And to make your stay as pleasant as possible, we'll open a cat preserve.
DeleteI love your vision. I find myself watching HGTV and all the island hunter shows wishing so many of them were mine. Sigh. I hope you get there Elizabeth :)
ReplyDeleteI love watching HGTV and the beach/island ones are my favorite. I could watch them all day.
DeleteOh yay! Can I come visit? Lol.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all the anthology winners!
Most certainly. If I'm rich enough to buy an island, I can surely find guest rooms for friends.
DeleteOne of my BBFs sent me a link to an isolated island off of Scotland looking for new residents. Believe me, it looks tempting!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your tireless work on the newsletter. And no, you're not a cranky old goat. You are one person with two hands. Writers are expected to be able to read. Those who don't follow the rules? Not Your Problem.
So, where do I find this island? I'm also intrigued...until the brain starts to ask why this island is desserted and needs to lure people to it.
DeleteI enjoy doing the newsletter. It's a work in progress. I'm not the most tech savvy. And incorporating ways to help members is my biggest goal.
Yep. We're all about helping each other, which includes helping spread the word for our peeps.
ReplyDeleteAn island huh? I like that. Happy IWSG!
ReplyDeleteI'll be sure to send you an invite.
DeleteLOL I'm still laughing out cranky old goat! Congrats to the anthology winners.
ReplyDeleteIt's baa-baa humbug season and all.
DeleteFrom one old goat to another, cherish each day. I hope you find that island. Since I'm not sure this old goat could actually live on an island, we're flying to Puerto Vallarta early in January when it's typically snowing where we live. Now are you going to that island to escape? or to find new stories???? Keep hitting that keyboard and thank you for all your work and for making me laugh.
ReplyDeleteSeems someone is already living my dream. I'll try not to be jealous! I'm doing it for all of the above reasons. It will be warm, gorgeous views, and blissfully quiet for better word production.
DeleteI'm glad you enjoy the blog!
Wow, now this is a dream worth having! I wish you luck!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
DeleteBeautiful dream.
ReplyDeleteI'm slow but I now understand your comment. Thanks, again!
ReplyDeleteOh, that too. But I'd also be happy to give you a shout out here.
DeleteThere are so many days when I'd like to be on an island instead, ha! But..it would have to have wi-fi. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I am addicted to internet, so that's a dream island must. My son spent a summer in Africa and he adapted to the times he had to go without electric, western food, a washer, and a shower but when his phone lost internet ts internet connection, he was ready to come home.
DeleteCongrats to the winners.
ReplyDeleteI love your posts. They are always so creative and fun.
Hugs
Aww, thanks Sandra! The ugly truth is, I rarely know what to share until I'm staring at a blank page.
DeleteI'm also digging your island idea and hope it comes true... but at this stage, you may need to buy a neighboring guest island for us guests who want to come hang out and be like cool and stuff. Like.
ReplyDeleteOr be a pretty large island. I'll make sure you have your own special room, Twinny.
DeleteCongratulations to all the winners!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winners! Looks like another exciting year ahead, too.
