Did you know? Thanksgiving was established in 1863 by President Lincoln in the
midst of the Civil War to remind the nation of their common roots. President Franklin Rooselvelt moved it to the third Thursday of November to stimulate
the economy during the depression.
Seems Thanksgiving has a history of getting us through the hard times.

I'm almost ready for Thanksgiving. The turkey is thawing and I have the rest of the groceries ordered and ready for pick up tomorrow. My plan is to cook most of it tomorrow, but you guys know me. I'll probably be cooking it Thursday, a few hours before dinner.
Congratulations to fellow blogger and romance writer, Sandra Cox. She has a new book out and it's a good read. I give it a thumb's up!
Review of TumbleStar
Coop was swoon-worthy. A tough, suffer-no-fools sort of cowboy with a heart of gold and a generous nature. Coop has a ranch and he slowly fills it with people who have nowhere else to go, like his orphaned neice and her caretaker, Randa. Randa has no family, no home, and no money. She escorts the child to her uncle's ranch- a man she had a crush on as a girl- and ends up staying. There is plenty of subplot and action going on in this story that will keep you guessing all the way to the happily ever after.

Our turkey is thawing and I have the stuffing made. Just have to prepare the bird tonight, cook the sweet potatoes, and make my tofurky.
ReplyDeleteYou're ahead of me. I don't have any stuffing made, but then I use the kind in the box.
DeleteLooking forward to a quiet day here, no muss and no fuss. Happy Thanksgiving! :)
ReplyDeleteI have family coming in, so I doubt there is any quiet, but I am looking forward to the fun of chaos.
DeleteWhat time is dinner Liz? I used to thoroughly enjoy Thanksgiving when we lived in NC, I frequently did all the cooking too. Hope yours is successful and happy.
ReplyDeleteDinner was at 6:30, but if you ever show up on my doorstep, dinner will be whenever you want it.
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you, too.
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving. Well I guess moving it made Black Friday come about, so the economy is sure helped, maybe not one's sanity.
ReplyDeleteBlack Friday was very quiet in my area. I think Black Friday is losing to cyber Monday
DeleteI knew about Roosevelt but not Lincoln, so you taught me something. I hope you had a glorious Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Then it was worth the stop! I hope yours was awesome too.
DeleteThank you so much for the lovely shout out. I so appreciate ya.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that Lincoln was responsible for Thanksgiving. For some reason I thought the pilgrims came up with that on their own. ROTFL.
Any time, Sandra. I'm happy to help!
DeleteThe pilgrims probably started it and the government made it a federal thing.
Happy Thanksgiving to you too!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a delicious Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I did :)
DeleteJust stop by to say hey. Hope your muse was yelling in your ear today;)
ReplyDeleteBack at ya on the anytime help:)
