Ashley's Dream Wedding

Thanks so much for hosting me, Elizabeth!

Elizabeth asked me to talk about what my dream wedding would be. Really, there are few things I know about my dream wedding. I have a Pinterest board called Weddings with stuff I like. The two solid things I know are 1) there MUST be purple and 2) Castles!!

Here are some castles I've seen in real life:

Ireland:

Blarney Castle

Blarney Castle
Italy (Milan, specifically). I think this was like a castle-park. It was neat.

I'm pretty sure homeless people lived behind that gate.

A MOTE! I like motes

There were walls all like this around this place

I think castles are so magical and I have always loved them! There are also a lot of mansions that look like castles so if I can't find a REAL castle, I can come pretty close!

So, aside from those two things, the only other thing I could have in my dream wedding would be a lot of friends and family celebrating the event!

Did you have your dream wedding? What is your dream wedding?

Oh, and here is the blurb ;)

Notorious pirate Barren Reed has one thing on his mind: Revenge against the man who killed his father. So kidnapping his enemy's fiancé seems a perfect plan…until he actually does it.

Larkin Lee is more than a pretty face and fiancé to a powerful man. Her fierce personality is enough to make any pirate want to push her overboard.

But when the King of the Orient comes to Barren with a task—to find the Bloodstone, a powerful gem thought only to exist in legend, Barren sees another opportunity to destroy his enemy. Together, Barren, Larkin and a crew of pirates set off to find the stone, only to discover it caused the death of Barren’s own mother and Larkin’s, too. As his strongest allies turn into his greatest enemies, and the life of the girl he kidnapped becomes more important than he ever dreamed, Barren’s quest for revenge becomes a fight to save the Orient.

  1. Ashley - you're a woman after my own heart. I mean purple AND castles? Sigh. I had a lovely wedding nearly 17 years ago but it was very much about my in-laws who pretty much organised and paid for it so hubby and I are talking about renewing our vows in a couple of years - so I plan to include purple and/or maybe black! I have a weddings pinterest board and I love browsing through all the prettiness to get ideas!!
Have a wonderful day, Ashley and Elizabeth!! x

A book about pirates, those are my favorites. The first book I read was about pirates.

  5. Castles are sure grand indeed. A little drafty though

  6. A wedding in a castle would be so fun. The only thing I'd worry about would be finding a secret passage and then losing some of the wedding party to an unknown part of the castle.

  7. I believe that certain castles in the UK are for rent for such occasions, so if you ever have to plan, you can make enquiries. I had two weddings and enjoyed both of them.

  11. Congratulations to PK! Pretty heady stuff.

Ashley, castles are magical--so long as I don't have to heat or clean one, lol! I enjoyed the pictures. I like the cover and premise of your book. Congratulations.

My wedding was simple in done held in an historical building dating back to late 1700's. Well maintained and updated in Maryland. Lots of marble and lovely rosewood. I wanted mine small and intimate. Reception in mostly candlelight. Very nice, too.

    1. I love small and intimate. I wanted mine so small and intimate that I always dreamed of eloping, but my husband wouldn't do it. He feared his mother killing him.

  12. Congrats to Ashley and PK! Love the premise of Ashley's book! Castles are wonderful, but I loved my wedding even without one. We married in the little church I grew up going to, and then we had a reception in my parent's back yard - a one acre paradise of my mom's horticultural skills (I didn't inherit the green thumb). Since the church was only across an open lot from my parent's back yard, everyone kept their cars in the church parking lot and walked to the reception. It was wonderful, filled with family and friends, and the love of my life - so it was definitely the wedding of my dreams. Sorry, having a serious gush moment now . . . and it's been almost 18 years.

  13. Congrats to Ashley! The castles are spectacular :) I'm already married, but if for some reason I needed to do it again, I think a bbq in a really pretty park would pretty much make me happy! :)

  15. A castle would make the perfect place for a wedding. There's one in Lexington, Kentucky--we stayed there for our third wedding anniversary. I think only super wealthy people can afford their wedding packages, though!

  21. Congratulations, Ashley.

I did have my dream wedding: a gorgeous victorian bridal gown that cost only $200; a service in a small, simple synagogue with an expansive stained glass window in the backdrop, and the reception next door; wind-up toys on the tables, bubbles, and of course a delicious chocolatey cake. Minus the groom (late ex husband) it was a dream come true. Smiles.

    1. Am I sad that of all the wonderfulness you listed, what sticks with me most is that I wish I'd have thought to put wind up toys on the tables? What a cool idea.

  22. Hi human, Elizabeth,

Such a fine blurb and a pawesome looking cover, human Ashley. I love a "moat" and I've thought of pushing my human of the Port Cullis and into the moat. All the beast, um best, Ashley and congrats. Before I make a castle of myself....I move on. My human, Gary, says oops to weddings. Should of worked out that the dream wedding might not turn out that way when his bride wanted "After the love is gone" as their theme tune.

    Pawsome P.K., what can say.

    Pawsitive wishes,

Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar! :)

  24. I'm envious. You've seen so many more castles than I have. That number being one. And only if you count "fort I constructed out of cardboard boxes in my backyard" as a genuine castle.

    1. Oh well, if we're counting those sort of castles...then I seen and built plenty!

    1. I used to be the same way. It wasn't working with weddings that made them lose their charm, but being extra busy finishing up school and getting a job that just made all the planning seem frivolous.
