M. Pax- Mullet Conundrum

I am so blessed to know this wonderful lady! Smart, thoughtful, and doesn't she just have the sweetest smile? This lady has turned this chick lit lovin' gal into a sci-fi reader...if only my dad had lived long enough to see the day...

Congratulations- M. Pax!!

The story of the Backworlds continues, and the story of Earth begins.

Worlds on Edge
by M. Pax
Fifth book in the Backworlds series

War is coming. A horde of merciless aliens poise just beyond the Edge. In a matter of weeks they will devour the worlds.
Racing ahead of the apocalypse, Craze returns to the Backworlds to warn them and plan a defense. Only he can’t go home. Banned from Pardeep Station, he must wage a more urgent battle. His moon is under siege, and his friends are dying.
Bad things come in threes, and the galaxy is no exception. An old enemy returns, attacking moons and defenseless globes, leaving a wake of destruction. Worse than that, they threaten to join forces with the alien horde.
Defeat seems inevitable. Craze may not be able to stop it. Yet home is worth the fight.

Fantasy, science fiction, and the weird beckons to M. Pax, and she blames Oregon for that, a source of endless inspiration. She docents at Pine Mountain Observatory in the summers, teaching the public about the stars and the galaxy. A Bachelors of Science in Journalism, she had former lives in marketing and television before settling down to write. Want to know more? mpaxauthor.com

Oh yeah!! About that Mullet thing...

I need some input. #2 son, Cole, wants to let his hair grow out in a Mullet for graduation.

You do remember this lovely do, right? Take a minute...cast your vote. Every vote that I agree with counts.

  2. Hmm, a definite no methinks.
I can't wait to get around to reading the Backworlds series. I have the first one on my Kindle, ready to go.

    1. I read the excerpt on her blog and I want to read the series too. Sci-fi isn't usually my thing, but Mary makes it good.

  3. I'm way behind on this series now, but ultimately I'd like to have it all in paperback form so I can just devour it in one sitting. :D Well, numerous sittings, but one sequence!

    1. I like to do that with TV. Wait until a series is over and then watch it all in a clump. No cliff hangers that way!!

  4. hahahaha a mullet, hell no!.

    Congrats on the release

  5. Congrats to Mary!
My TBR list is growing to scary proportions. LOL

Tell your son he'll regret it later, but if he does it sans beard, well... It's better than a green and purple mohawk. I mean, there are worse things. xD

    1. LOL. My TBR list is going to need a building permit it is so big!
There are definitely worse things. And I don't have to worry about the beard (though he wants one so badly!) because he can only grow one tiny clump of whiskers.

  6. Congrats to Mary! And I used to have a mullet when I was younger. It was the 80s, I was 5 years old, and I didn't have control of my hairstyle. Blame my parents. The pictures still haunt me.

    1. As parents, we are required to do at least one thing you can tell your therapist about later. It's in the fine print.

    2. Since you were kind enough to post the link to our book (thank you!), I'll share with you a picture of the aforementioned mullet. This was from a blog entry we posted once upon a time ago before we got a lot of traffic.

Now then, off to that therapist...

    3. Seriously. Adorable. Not even the mullet could detract from that smile!

  7. Tell Cole he absolutely can NOT do it. He will regret it for years to come if he does LOL.

    Congratulations to Mary!

  8. Congrats to Mary! I might have to skip this one up to the top of the reading list!

  9. I have a mullet opinion:

Unless it's the early 80s there is NO reason to have a mullet. Seriously.

It's like the feather, do we see that hair style coming back? or the big bangs? Nope. You will have pictures of your high school graduation forever. Really. Does he want to explain the mullet forever?

    1. I found them questionable in the 80's too! Though I do miss big hair. I have so much hair, doing big hair just comes naturally to me. That smooth, slick hair is a pain for me. But I know you're right. Fashion also needs to move forward.

    2. Definitely no to the mullet.

  10. Yay for Mary! I'm no fan of the mullet. Maybe it will be coming back in style because of Eugene on The Walking Dead... but even on there, it's a joke. I prefer a mohawk to a mullet!

    1. I guess there are a few NLF or college players sporting them. That's where Cole got the brilliant idea. Not sure I'm a fan of the mohawk either...at least not for graduation ;)

  11. Hey Elizabeth,

Forgive me for my absence. Good news about the adorable Mary. Mullets are a must. Then again, I would say that as I whip over my last strand of hair.

I think I'd better get the heck outta' here.....

    1. I'll mullet over.

Oh my, the comb over...also not a good look. Penny would be ashamed if you tried it!

  12. Thank you, Elizabeth, wonderful lady. If it's living hair, one can get away with a mullet... meaning it styles itself and moves on its own. If not, I'd have to vote no.

    1. Living hair...I imagined a pomeranian on his head. He has really curly hair. He'd be more adept at growing an afro than a mullet. That is one saving grace!

  13. Congrats M Pax! Sweetest smile, indeed! I really to read more sci-fi. I've just been getting into it and I like it! I will get this on my TBR list! I'm hoping to catch up on some reading this summer!

    1. At least one day this summer, I am going to spend it in my hammock with a book. It's been so long since I have just relaxed and read.

  14. I obviously cannot comment on Mullet-related topics.

    The end.

(PS: Let the boy grow out his hair - and if you *don't* want him to... tell him he CAN and that you'll look forward to styling it for him :)

I honestly don't miss the mullet.

    1. I didn't like it the first time. Then when Billy Ray Cyrus wore it while singing that stupid song that got played over and over and over until I wanted to vomit...nope I don't miss it either!

  16. Mary has the sweetest smile. I agree.
And she's also converted me to a sci-fi reader... I've read the first 2 in The Backworlds series. Need to get around to the next installment...

  18. M Pax is awesome. A great bloggy friend to have at all times. I'm voting for the mullet. You only live once and besides, you can blackmail him later in life. :)

  19. M Pax - yea, bad things always come in threes. I'm not alluding to Blogged Out here - the only threesome that's great. I may be calling on you for help sometime.

  20. M Pax is pretty cool!!! The Mullet! I can't believe that style is still around and that you kid knows what it is! I think, go for it. The pictures I have from middle school with the boys with that haircut are hilarious :-) Gotta do 'you' and what makes ya happy, right?!

  21. Yay, M Pax! I love seeing this book all over the place today :) I'm way behind, though - I need to start with book one!

Erm, as for the Mullet...how to say this? I'm sure your son is a handsome guy, and it would really be a shame to let anything change that. Like, oh I don't know, THE WORST HAIRCUT EVER INVENTED. Ahem. Oops, did I say that out loud? ;)

    1. Isn't it awful? I told him once graduation is over, he can grow and hair do he wants. He will thank me later, I'm sure.

I've read Hetty Locklear, but also need to start with book one of this series.

  22. Ah, the mullet. Kids are just fascinated by them. My oldest likes to "collect" mullets. She snaps pictures of people we see out and about with raging mullets and exchanges the pictures she takes with her friends....it's kind of a game. Demented and sad, but a game nonetheless. LOL

Oops, almost forgot. I got distracted by the mullet. They tend to do that to you. Congrats to MPax!!!
