Trends vs. Style...

Okay, so how many of us have heard this from Mom, "If everybody else was jumping off a cliff, would you want to too?"

Do we chase the latest trend or hope that the style we were born with and tweak to a comfortable perfection is good enough?

It's a tough choice. And we must remember, walking a mile (or 45 feet) in someone else's shoes could be hazardous...or in the least downright hilarious!

  1. It's astonishing that these girls don't break their ankles in those shoes lol!

    1. The one with the Egyptian pony tail? I wonder if she didn't break ankles. She looked like she was trying to walk away on silly putty legs!

  2. Ha! That's what I would look like on the runway. A lot of my high heels are 3+ inches, but that combined with a raised walkway is asking for trouble.
As for following trends, I think I should be up-to-date on the industry. But if I feel the need to write something that isn't current, I do it. However, I do prepare myself that my book may not be publishable (traditionally speaking).

    1. I agree. We need to be aware of trends and open to being fresh, but trying to be a slave to them would cripple us (pun intended).

  3. I'm not trendy or stylish :) I just try and do what I like. I think it works for clothes and writing!

  5. I have two take-aways from that video...
1 - I always wondered how those skinny legs hold those girls up, and now I know!
2 - I'm disgusted by the two 'men' walking the runway walked right by the ladies who fell and didn't even glance down to make sure they were OK. A REAL man would have stopped to help them up.

  7. And that seems to be working GREAT for you. I'm hearing good things about "Night Sky"
we'll see if this little link to Amazon works. Probably not. I'm a techno failure.

  8. It's not so much that I have heard those words from a parent ... but I can remember saying them to my 16 year old last week. And I was promptly ignored. :o)
