Trends vs. Style...
Okay, so how many of us have heard this from Mom, "If everybody else was jumping off a cliff, would you want to too?"Do we chase the latest trend or hope that the style we were born with and tweak to a comfortable perfection is good enough?
It's a tough choice. And we must remember, walking a mile (or 45 feet) in someone else's shoes could be hazardous...or in the least downright hilarious!
It's astonishing that these girls don't break their ankles in those shoes lol!
ReplyDeleteThe one with the Egyptian pony tail? I wonder if she didn't break ankles. She looked like she was trying to walk away on silly putty legs!
DeleteHa! That's what I would look like on the runway. A lot of my high heels are 3+ inches, but that combined with a raised walkway is asking for trouble.
ReplyDeleteAs for following trends, I think I should be up-to-date on the industry. But if I feel the need to write something that isn't current, I do it. However, I do prepare myself that my book may not be publishable (traditionally speaking).
I agree. We need to be aware of trends and open to being fresh, but trying to be a slave to them would cripple us (pun intended).
DeleteI'm not trendy or stylish :) I just try and do what I like. I think it works for clothes and writing!
ReplyDeleteI'm not either. Probably why I vote against it. :)
DeleteThat's why I love my DMs, and I rock them!
ReplyDeleteWasn't the guy in Vid 4 sweet!
Yes he was! That's the girl who looks like she may have broken an ankle. They looked totally unsupporting.
DeleteI finished "Cat and the Dreamer". Really enjoyed it. People should search it on Amazon too!
DeleteThank you Elizabeth, so glad you liked it! :-)
DeleteI have two take-aways from that video...
ReplyDelete1 - I always wondered how those skinny legs hold those girls up, and now I know!
2 - I'm disgusted by the two 'men' walking the runway walked right by the ladies who fell and didn't even glance down to make sure they were OK. A REAL man would have stopped to help them up.
Ugh. 'who walked right by,,,' I hate it when I omit words.
DeleteGood thing I have good solid cankles. LOL
DeleteSeriously, the guy at the pool? What a sissy.
This is where my stubborn nature really helps me out - I do whatever I want, lol
ReplyDeleteAnd that seems to be working GREAT for you. I'm hearing good things about "Night Sky"
ReplyDeletewe'll see if this little link to Amazon works. Probably not. I'm a techno failure.

Nope, didn't work. Search it on Amazon people.
DeleteIt's not so much that I have heard those words from a parent ... but I can remember saying them to my 16 year old last week. And I was promptly ignored. :o)
ReplyDeleteThey try our patience, don't they Andrew? :)
DeleteLOL! I could never walk in the shoes these ladies where. Too funny. And I always swore as a mom I wouldn't say that to my kids. *sigh* Oh course, I do! *shakes head.*
ReplyDeleteMe neither and me too.
DeleteI still can't get Pop Muzik out of my head, today, but thanks for your comments... I'm glad I wasn't alone :)
ReplyDeleteSeriously, it's an awesome song. I mean I'll boogie with my suitcase and forget about the rat race any old day!
DeleteThat was hilarious in a sad sort of way.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I started with the thought that this really isn't funny...these ladies could have been hurt...but I was ROFL'ing by #2.
DeleteThis just proves the undeniable truth... some shoes are lethal....
ReplyDeletedefinitely never mix stilettos and pools, that's for sure.
DeleteThose poor girls :(
ReplyDeleteBut they made the world laugh. A chuckle is worth the sacrifice.
DeleteHey! I finally got the contest working on my blog! YIKES! Hate when that happens. :( SO you can pop over and enter now! :)
