IWSG December 2022
I started this post last week, realized I was a week ahead of myself, tabled it and then forgot to set it up to share. This sort of absentmindedness is nothing new in my life. Ever since my kids were little, I'd tell them to take note of my scattered brain and never assume it's age and put me in a home once all my hair goes gray. Loading my plate high to the point of forgetting what all I'm carrying is kinda how I roll. I never realize I have over-extended myself until I start to forget things. Then I pull back, clean my plate, promise I'm going to be more judicious in what I choose to take on, and never do.
I do the same at buffets.
Also, I have that constantly active/distracted writer brain that is always plotting and planning, so I'm operating in a constant state of distraction. Plus their is that writer weirdness to be reckoned with...
This was a posting for the Insecure Writer's Support Group.

Thank you to our awesome co-hosts for the December 7 posting of the IWSG are Joylene Nowell Butler, Chemist Ken, Natalie Aguirre, Nancy Gideon, and Cathrina Constantine!
December 7 question - It's holiday time! Are the holidays a time to catch up or fall behind on writer goals? Like all things, I will make big, big plans and get about half of it done- writing included.

Speaking of the holidays...
Here are some great gift ideas for yourself or someone you care enough about to send the very best.
And there's this! Scarlet Knight's An Honorable Man is on sale for .99 cents! Another wonderful romance with a paranormal twist.
Love your gift ideas! I didn't post about it on my blog, but I injured myself about a month ago, so... well, Christmas plans have taken a quieter turn, but I am still taking a break for a week and enjoying Christmas lights.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
I am good at choosing gifts. :)
DeleteI'm sorry to hear you have an injury. What bad timing, though. Although, it is a great opportunity to slow down and enjoy a quiet Christmas.
It's hard to keep your plate tidy and in check. There's so much to do!
ReplyDeleteI know! So many things interest me. At least I can say I'm never bored.
DeleteYou are not ready for a home, Elizabeth. We're practically related. unless that means we're both ready for the home?
ReplyDeletePerhaps one of those resort-type homes on the beach? Do they make those?
DeleteHey, our minds are always on overdrive, what can we say?
It happens! As long as no one dies, it's all right.
ReplyDeleteThat is true. I always tell myself- a tumor, now that's a problem. Must keep perspective.
DeleteIf you're getting half the things done, well, that's still more than I am. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays, Elizabeth!
You're blogging and commenting. That's something to check off the to do list!
DeleteThank you for promoting my books!
ReplyDeleteI actually get some surprise writing done in December. Once the house is clean, and the crowd clears out from the holiday gathering, I subsist on leftovers and head for my laptop. I'm usually brimming with ideas after being kept from it while I cleaned house a shopped.
It's my pleasure to share great reads at affordable prices.
DeleteNot writing for a while does make me antsy and ready to write. I'm trying to give myself at least enough time to get in 500 words a day. I really enjoy the writing process...I owe that to myself.
I often find myself scattered and overwhelmed and thinking about writing more than writing. Still, you always manage to get more done than I do! Hope you have a great holiday season and a happy new year!
ReplyDeleteYou have kids in the house, Loni. You get an amazing amount done with all the balls you're juggling. Give yourself a huge pat on the back!!
DeleteA constant state of distraction - that's me.
ReplyDeleteI'm also useless at buffets. I can't eat that much.
I never need that many options!
DeleteBravo to you, Elizabeth, for getting half of what you want accomplished. You are ahead of the gang. Hang in there! Merry Christmas! All the luck in the new year.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good way of looking at it- half of something is better than nothing.
DeleteIf I don't take the time to list all that have to do that morning, I might as well stay in bed because I get little to nothing done that SHOULD be done. Instead, I wander around in a semi-conscious state and at the end of the day, oops...Well, there's always tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThat's what happens to me, too! And some days, I have so many things to do that I don't know which ones I should choose to put on the list.
DeleteRight there with ya. I forgot my eye appointment today. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI've done that!
DeleteMy plan is not to write but to work on writing related things. Like actually doing the marketing training I signed up for. Merry Christmas to me. zzzzz
ReplyDeleteYou're diving right in and doing the hard, boring stuff.
DeleteOh my yes. I makes lists....but then misplace them. :)
ReplyDeleteI even tried putting my lists in a notebook so they'd be harder to lose. So, now I have notebooks with lists everywhere.
DeleteYour brain sounds like mine! I'm more lenient on myself in December, though. Have a very merry Christmas and a wonderful new year!
ReplyDeleteYes, there is a lot more exciting things going on in December that we can clutter our pile with!
Delete"Be strange" is the advice I always needed to hear. I shall take note, and thank you for it :-)
ReplyDeleteBooks are awesome gifts and when we're surrounded by so many amazing authors, how can we not recommend them!
It is good to be strange. The world would be so boring without some oddballs in it!
DeleteI love the image of life as a buffet and both of us with our plates piled high. I say yes more than I should (and whine about the results) but doing that has led to some great experiences.
ReplyDeleteThe "what was I going to write again" meme is totally me. *sigh*
Happy holidays!
On the bright side, us yes people are rarely ever bored, right?
