The Good, the Bad, and the Funny

Let's start with the good.

It's time to release a book. It's been almost two years since I sent a story out into the world and I forgot how much I missed the process. The last few days have been busy with blurb writing and cover creation.

While working on the cover, my husband suggested he be the model, so I added him. I told him this could be the cover for the sequel.
Not the cover.

I also joined the IWSG team this week. I'm really excited. A little nervous. These guys work hard. So far, I've contributed very little. I'm mostly reading all the info and getting my bearings.

Being on the team, I have access to cool things to share like these:
(Answer now. Read the stories later and see how good a guesser you are.)

Then there is the bad.

The Super Bowl is Sunday and I am without a team As a devout Steelers fan, I really don't want the Patriots to get another ring. The Steelers are the only team with one for the thumb and we want to keep it that way.

But then there is the controversy over the Rams vs. Saints playoff game. I hear rumors the controversial refs were from LA. That's hardly fair and I believe in fairness. Not to mention I have a purely platonic-oriented crush on Drew Brees. He and his fellow Saints should be playing on Sunday. They were my back-up team, so I'm bereft.

How can I root for a team that I honestly don't think should be there?

How can I root for a team that wants to take the glory from my most favorite team?

I'm left with just the wings and commercials to look forward to.

How can I not feel bad for the Saints? I bet they're Patriot fans this Sunday.
Let's move on to some funnies.

I seriously want this tee-shirt. I will be clicking on their link in the bio.

This is so true! And the song playing in my head is usually a jingle from a feminine hygiene product. Yes, I am so very confident... (anyone remember the jingle that came from?)

Last but not least, some wordy humor.

  1. The Internet one is hilarious!
You'll do great on the team. Just find your footing and dig in.
No Steelers and I agree, want them to hold on to the most Super Bowls for a while longer. Brady seems unstoppable though.

    1. Just nudge me if I miss something.

I'm not happy to admit it, but I think this is the year the Steelers will have company at the top.

It is cool isn't it. I'm almost there, in edits now but hopefully it'll go fast. Yeah, like that can happen. I'm a Steeler fan too, and definitely won't be cheering for the Patriots, but do love the commercials!
And that last funny, too funny! Hubby said I'd kill him if he did that. Close...
    Spiders are too creepy! :)

    1. Good luck getting yours out. I'll hope your edits go fast!!

The game was the least stressful ever. I had very little concern over who would win or lose.

  5. Yay to getting another book out there! And the 'cover' is quite the eye-catcher. I don't think I've ever seen one quite like that. I'm not a huge football fan, but the commercials for the Super Bowl can be fun. Hope you enjoy it anyway!

I'm so not a football fan that when you said the only thing left is the wings and the commercials, I was like... what else is there?

  14. Woo HOO! Congratulations on the new book-to-be and on joining the IWSG team. (They're lucky to have you!)

We had less interest in this year's Super Bowl than we've ever had, even though it was played right here in Atlanta. Now, if the FALCONS had made it, it would've been the best Super Bowl ever. But they didn't, so meh. The Pats are getting downright greedy, and the Rams got there on a bad call. So my hubby and I had the game on mute and paid a modicum of attention to it while listening to music and shooting pool. When the Ram missed that field goal at the end of the game, I said, "A little old lady in New Orleans is pulling on a voodoo doll's leg and cackling gleefully about now..."

    1. That's hilarious. I bet there was some voodoo going on with that kick. Talk about way off.

It really was the least exciting game ever. If only I could have been rooting for a tie so that neither team would win...

  17. I think I read a book on the couch near the TV while the superbowl was on. I didn't think either team should have been in the playoffs, a big Chiefs fan myself since I'm in Kansas City. Ha ha! As I was typing my comment I almost put "Super bowel." That's a funny take on it. I hope they change the way overtime is handled in the future. You'll be a fantastic administrator Elizabeth. I look forward to seeing your reflections and comments. Happy IWSG Day :)

    1. I was rooting for Kansas, after the Saints were out of it. Really was a lose lose pick of teams. Sigh.

Reading a book was an excellent choice!!
