Lawyer Cartoons
I sent this to my law school son and got a sarcastic ha-ha in return.
All the boys were home for the Thanksgiving holiday. We had a great time. We put up our tree, played games, and ate way too much!

Coming off a holiday high is always chaos in my house. I've always enjoyed time with my kids above all else, but as they get older, that time becomes a lot harder to come by. So, now more than ever, I try like hell to make sure that time isn't ruined by nasty to-do lists.  Which leaves me with a helluva mess!

That's why this is pretty much it for this week. I had planned a more profound sort of post with some meaningful or educational value, but let's just be honest...I have six baskets of laundry waiting for me to put away. I'm still thinking someone should invent shelves that hold laundry baskets instead of drawers. No more putting clothes away. Wouldn't that be awesome?

So, until next Wednesday when we meet for the IWSG...I'll share a few pictures...they're worth a thousand words.

My boys! In order from oldest to youngest.

Our tree.
Amazing that the "puppy" is leaving the ornaments alone.
She wiped out half a shoe closet in ten minutes when it was accidentally left open.

Time for my small things check-in. Thanks to our hosts LexaL  .G, and Tonja Drecker for this weekly reminder to look for the good things in life!

My niece is going to have a baby! I'm so excited for her. She's in her thirties and was starting to think motherhood wasn't in the cards, but surprise!! I shall happy dance...in private.

I started doing yoga. Poorly. Very, very poorly. I give awkward a bad name. But screw it, I want to be able to touch my toes when I'm sixty.

Christmas is coming!!!

By fellow blogger, Chrys Fey, this short story is the prequel to her romantic suspense, Tsunami Crimes. This is a great intro to the next book. This short story has it all- suspense, character chemistry, and a hint at good things, and probably some bad, things to come!

  1. I couldn't even touch my toes in my thirties. I'm just not very flexible. Yoga would probably kill me.

    1. It might kill me too after I trip over my own two feet trying to downward dog.

  2. I hear you on the laundry! I'm doing laundry about every other day and am still thinking of a more efficient way to get the laundry sorted and put away. Hours of wasted time doing laundry when we could be doing better things. Haha.

Congratulations on having a good time with your family and getting the tree set up! We're planning on getting a tree this weekend.

Take care and have a good weekend!

  3. Sure looks and sounds like a great Thanksgiving was had. The cat is already trying to eat the tree here lol just went up today. Yoga works, makes one as bendy as can be, takes a bit though.

    1. My cat has always ignored the tree too. I better knock on wood.

  4. Looks like a grand time had by all! Except the puppy, who is still awaiting his chance.
Heck with chores. Family time is more important. And I'd invest in shelves that hold laundry baskets.

    1. The pup is at that awful stage- full sized, but full of puppy attitude.

  5. I worked Thanksgiving, and was thankful not to have to cook a bit dinner, lol. Got out of it. We had a big family get-together in October; took lots of pictures, played games, ate too much, drank too much, and jusst loved all the noise and activity.

We don't wait on specific holidays to do family get togethers at my house. We make our own time, when we are all available.

Glad you had such a good time.

    1. You're a wise woman! Enjoying time together outside of the official holiday has to be less stressful, and it probably works great when competing with different in-laws for holiday time.

  6. What a bunch of happiness! Thanksgiving does tend to leave a lot of catch-up behind. So happy for your niece! As to yoga—good luck! That is one sport I would never, ever, ever touch. I'm just not that flexible.

    1. I'm not at all flexible! I was watching King of the Hill and Hank hurt his back and used yoga to make it feel better. I've been having a lot of back pain, so I thought I might as well give it a try. So far, so good.

  7. Hope the yoga works for you Liz. I can touch my toes by the way and I am somewhat past 60. The boys all look very happy and Cole's hair stands out Love your tree, looks a bit like mine with lots of different things on it.

    1. You're my inspiration, Jo. I want to be bowling when I'm well past 60. And I've been having a lot of back pain but can't take many pain meds because I have stomach issues too. You're probably not at all surprised to hear that the yoga has help immensely. I'm not nearly as creaky and I've only been doing it a week.

  9. Love those pics! And gorgeous tree. I try to do some yoga stretches every weekday. It helps with sitting at the desk all day. I'm still immensely awkward, but it helps the ol' body.

    1. We could have an awkward competition! It does help. I'm like you, I sit for hours and hours a day. I've got to start moving or my bum will grow into the chair.

  10. I hear you on this. Just the fact you were able to come up for air long enough to share a post says a lot.

And I love that second pic with you and the boys. So many boys in that picture, they nearly pushed you out of it.
