 I've never been one of those people who doesn't understand why she's chubby. I like food and I'm pretty lazy  cerebral.

I do occasionally attempt to lead a healthier life because looks aside, I do want to have a body that can get me from point A to point Z (fun pun intended) without coding out.



D is for diet tips I know, but obviously don't use very often. 

*When craving something sweet, grab fruit first...after a while, your mind will start to crave the fruit (in theory, but the first time you wipe out the kiddo's Easter candy, you're back to square one)
*Snack sized candies and pre-portioned snacks. Never say no, say moderation.
*Stop eating when you're full. Sounds easy, but sometimes it tastes so good!
*Keep a food journal, or get one of the phone apps. I have fitness pro. It chastises me for not logging in enough...well worth the .99 I paid.
*Don't think diet, think healthy living. Diet is a four letter word containing the word die...it's a BAD word.
*Move more. Gym time is great, but unrealistic for some people. Give yourself credit for doing a tough job. My grandma baptized her 6th kid in a size 8 dress. Her secret? She constantly worked on a to do list.
*Keep high protein snacks handy. Almonds, walnuts, peanuts. Just remember portions. Trust me, you can be a chub on healthy foods!
*Plan ahead. Make a menu. If you know what the plan is, it's easier to stay on course. 
*Don't wait until you're starving to eat. I'm really bad at this. I forget to eat until I'm feeling hungry and instead of taking the time to prep a healthy meal or snack, I'm grabbing cookies.
*If you're seriously craving it, eat it, but in a smaller portion. I once wanted a Snicker bar in the worst way, but I was "dieting" and tried to ignore the craving. I had a yogurt, some almonds, half a peanut butter, a banana...but I still wanted a Snickers. I'd been better off to grab a 70 calorie bite size treat than try to be satisfied with the uncraved foods.
*Small work outs count. Something is better than nothing.
*Watch the salt. It will bloat you, then you'll feel fat and depressed and then you'll crave the comfort of a Snickers. Or is that just me?
*Stay hydrated. The body mistakes hunger all the time.

  2. That last one is true. Often when we think we are hungry, we are actually thirsty. Go drink a bottle of water and wait fifteen minutes. If you're still hungry, then eat something.
    Never diet. Lifestyle change.

  4. I'm with you; I know why I'm chubby and its also featured on my E for Eat, LOL :) You shared great tips here. I think the most important one that people forget is to stay hydrated. Best advice to get in those 8 glasses of water that is recommended. Now I need to print out those tips you shared as I need to consider a more healthier lifestyle :)

  6. Good tips, Elizabeth! And, I'm with you - I just want my bod to get from A to Z so the diet is a must only for that. (I still don't like it though) Great tips. I'm probably in big need of water and that journal app. :)

  11. Alex is right, don't diet, change your life. I guess that's what I did in 2013. I still record everything I eat on FitDay too, I find it helps. Mind you today I will not be "eating moderately".

  13. Man, I struggle with dieting too! I like food, I love breads and carbs and all the stuff I probably *shouldn't* be eating, so those are some great tips. One thing that helps is if I don't eat past 7 pm, but I don't stick to that very devotedly, lol. :)

    1. I love all the bad stuff too. I've switched my bread to whole wheat. I know I'm not cutting out bread, so I try to opt for the healthier variety.

  17. These are actually great tips. I think it will always be hard. For me it has been a matter of determination. I figured I loved myself and my family more than food(just barely more :P )

  18. I love these tips! I've struggled with losing weight my entire life. It's exhausting sometimes. I just wish someone would replace something in my brain that made me like asparagus and hate chocolate!

  24. Awesome tips, and that's coming from a fitness freak. I'm a big fan of moderation. Life would be so boring if I couldn't have burgers and beer and cake. I just try to have it in small doses, and I'm always working out to keep my metabolism up. God, that sounded so responsible of me...

    1. I think the idea of never getting the good stuff again is what send dieters over the edge. I have a lot of skinny friends, and they are mostly just naturally good at moderating. They just have a healthy attitude about food.

  25. These are really great tips, Elizabeth. I try to use most of them, although I'm still working on the water alone. I never liked the taste, lol. I do force myself to drink some and water down my juices with it. I'm sure that counts! :)

  26. Brilliant tips, Elizabeth! I'm guilty of grabbing chocolate whenever I need a snack... chocolate really is my downfall but at least I choose the dark 70% right? That's SUPER good for you. At least that's what I tell myself ;) x

    I've never had much of a struggle with weight... that could be due to a high metabolism.
    I like to snack on popcorn which is a healthy option.
