Take Me Away!

No one understands the twists and turns of the teenage mind like C Lee McKenzie, so the following won't shock her a bit.

Now Christine Rains is raising a young, genius child, so she may not yet get it, but she may as well learn now and get the shock over with.

I was trying to think of an intro post for Christine and Lee's new books- books that are absolutely high on my to read list because both of these ladies know how to deliver a good story. And they're both sweet hearts, so I wanted to do right by them. So I sat there looking at the screen- thinking hard.

Then my phone pinged. And I got this from my college student: (Forgive the bit of crude, my son is eighteen and has zero fear of Mom...and Mom is known to slip into potty mouth, so who am I to judge?)

Cole's texts are in gray; my responses are blue- just in case you thought I was trying to talk him into buying me an Xbox.

See? Teens are tough to raise. Quick witted teens- even tougher.

No wonder I like to lose myself in a good book. Thank you ladies for keeping me in stock!

Geek girl Morgan Reid has been to many conventions, but none that had her wishing it would never end.

Dressed as their characters from the online game Steampunk Quest, Morgan and her best friend meet the other players for the first time in real life. Morgan's attraction to the gorgeous Dean Bradley is immediate, making it difficult to breathe in her tight corset. Even after a few dice shattering orgasms, she doesn't believe this can be anything more than a con fling. But Dean is making her feel things she's only read about in books. Can Morgan let go of her cool-headed logic and allow herself to fall completely for the perfect geek guy?

  3. dice shattering orgasms.

    That's something sell-able. Yep.

You and your son have longer conversations via tap tap than I do with my mom in our monthly phone calls. (I'm pretty sure my mom finds me v e r y boring.)

    1. Then Mac, you and your mom should get a couple of smart phones and start texting each other! I have found my phones will text way faster than they will talk.

  7. That was hilarious! *LOL* I do wonder what my little guy will be like as a teen. He's already a dedicated gamer! I wonder if he'll be asking for the new holographic game system then! Thank you so much for the shout-out. And yay for Lee! I've been seeing her all over. Have a terrific weekend, Elizabeth. :)

    1. I wish you luck now, Christine. Raising smart kids can be tough. They understand loopholes better than an attorney.

  9. OMG, you and your son are hilarious!! He's very clever - I'm sure you're going to give in on the xbox thing. Have a great weekend!

(There were a few incorrect blog addresses on the Celebrate hop's Linky. I visited every site, edited broken links, and it's all fixed now! I look forward to you next post!)

    1. So far, so good....still haven't given in to the xBox. Yay me! But I did just spend $100 on tennis shoes, but that may be cheap by non-tight-wad mom standards.

  10. My teens incite me to potty mouth too. The last one in the house thinks he is clever. I hate it when he is right. He also has lots of arguments why XBox One is essential to life.

  11. Too funny!! I wish I could record some of the convos I have with my seventh grade students-they have a talent for making me laugh and creeping me out simultaneously!! Thanks for the book recommends :-)

Humble apologies for my sporadic commenting as of late. My computer needs to be replaced!

What a clever way to get around to the wonderful announcements in regards to two of my adoring fans, C. Lee and Christine.

    Can I have an X-Box? :)

Have a nice weekend and thanks for sharing. Great post! Following!

  23. As someone who went to college and is spending the rest of his natural life paying for it, while finding success in a field not related to his degree, I'd rather have the Xbox too. Also, I feel it's a better investment. Don't show this to your son.

    1. LOL. No, I won't share it with him. Neither my husband nor I am using the degrees awe have the way they were intended. And silly me, I got a degree in social work- I could have earned more at McDonalds.

  24. LOL. I dread the day my kids are teens. But honestly, I never read my text books when I was in school. :)

    1. I think every professor should have to reimburse the students for books they didn't really need. I get so mad when I pay $200 for a book they never even open. It's ridiculous.
