THINGS THAT ARE EVIL

 Happy Halloween!

It's candy time!
Anybody need help with candy eating triage?
Start with the big chocolate bars first, then onto to the small chocolates and caramels. When that's all gone, you will have to make do with Tootsie rolls, taffy, and hard candies.
It is still hard candies, right? My kids said saying that marks me as old.
I remember making fun of my mom for saying Bobby socks.
Oy. Maybe I have dropped down the other side of the hill.

Today is promo day and update day!

Update Day is a blog hop hosted by Misha Gericke and Beth Fred.
Coming Soon!

My goal for the year was to publish two books in a year.

Here's the progress update:
Defying Reason: Done and with the publisher. No idea how long edits and such will take. It's still a "Coming Soon!" release date. I do have a cover....check it out.
Hoosier Daddy: Nothing concrete. Mulling over the plot and planning some changes.
Flip My Heart: Haven't given it much thought at all.
Cherries: Reworking plot outline.

The Soulless are coming.

Alexia manipulated time to save the man of her dreams, and lost her best friend to red-eyed wraiths. Still grieving, she struggles to reconcile her loss with what was gained: her impending marriage. But when her wedding is destroyed by the Soulless—who then steal the only protection her people have—she’s forced to unleash her true power.

And risk losing everything.

Author Bio:

Crystal Collier is a young adult author who pens dark fantasy, historical, and romance hybrids. She can be found practicing her brother-induced ninja skills while teaching children or madly typing about fantastic and impossible creatures. She has lived from coast to coast and now calls Florida home with her creative husband, four littles, and “friend” (a.k.a. the zombie locked in her closet). Secretly, she dreams of world domination and a bottomless supply of cheese.

VITAMINS AND DEATH by Medeia Sharif
YA Contemporary, Prizm Books
Release Date December 10, 2014

Deidra Battle wants nothing more than to be invisible. After her mother, a public school teacher, engages in an embarrassing teacher-student affair at Lincoln High, they relocate to a different neighborhood and school. Being her mother’s briefcase, Deidra joins her mother at her new workplace, Hodge High.

Since her mother has reverted to her maiden name and changed her appearance, Deidra thinks no one will figure out they’re the Battles from recent news and that they’re safe. Neither of them is. Hodge brings a fresh set of bullies who discover details about the scandal that changed her life.

Feeling trapped at home with an emotionally abusive, pill-addicted mother and at school with hostile classmates who attempt to assault and blackmail her, Deidra yearns for freedom, even if she has to act out of character and hurt others in the process. Freedom comes at a price.

  5. Calling it "hard candy" makes us sound old?! I didn't know that. I just call it "the crappy candy nobody wants." That sounds like what they'd say. I do learn a lot working with these 20-something editors who inform me that some of the wording I used wasn't even used when THEY were in middle school!

    1. Oh the pain, right Stephanie?! I bought a bag of Jolly Ranchers, and you know they sell Jolly Ranchers chewies and hard candies- so I told my children (brats) that I got some hard candies and they had the best fun making fun of me. They called the van a buggy, the gas petrol...on and on...for most of the ride home.

  7. I love Medeia's cover, and I totally don't need any more candy. The baby is loving the sugar high, which means my insides might be black and blue. ;)

Wahoo! Thank you much, Elizabeth. You are cheese wrapped in bacon. Seriously. =)

  8. Happy Halloween! Love your new cover, Elizabeth!

I was cracking up at Crystal's video. Now I can see where her inspiration for Bellezza came from—totally makes sense. Totally.

    Congrats to Medeia!!

    1. I was always afraid of flushing the toilet at night. Evidently the vortex created when the house is dark is enough to suck you down.

  12. I absolutely love the title Hoosier Daddy! Knowing you, you will find the PERFECT story to fit that title. I have all the faith in you!! :D Congrats to Crystal and Medeia.

I entered as many of the rafflecopters as I could, but Goodreads didn't give me any confirms for adding the books to my TBR, which is fine. I found a giveaway for a print copy on GR and entered that too! :)

Not a single trick or treater came by yesterday, so I have all this candy left. Thank goodness I gave a little to the cable guys yesterday. Oye! Sophie and me are going to be on some serious sugar rushes for the next few weeks... Hugs.

  13. My husband always perused the kids bags on Halloween looking for snickers, and would take a few, calling it "Parent tax!" It got to be a standing joke! Thanks for the head's up on Crystal's novels, and for dropping by my blog!

  15. I'm not sure what they'd be called if not hard candies. Actually, I can think of some choice words. Those ones don't take priority. Smiles.

    Go, Crystal and Medeia!

Hope it was a very sweet Halloween, Elizabeth. xo

  16. Hard candies are candies that are hard. What else are we gonna call them?! It's not like I have a dish of them on my coffee table. Heh. I hope you had a wonderful Halloween! :)

    Yay for Crystal and Medeia!

    1. That gave me quite a chuckle. My mom still has the candy dish filled with hard candies, as did my grandmother. Funny- we're the obese generation and they left candy all over!
