Facebook Shame Follow Up

If you're on my Facebook, you've already seen my husband's public humiliation.

His cousin's wife found a picture and shared it with the world.

Then his thoughtful wife shared and reshared.

His children scoffed and admitted total vindication in choosing their own style over good ol' Dad's.

Even though for years my hubs has told our boys that if a guy is man enough, he can carry a pink purse and pull it off.

That no man should ever be a slave to fashion.

Well, that argument has ZERO sway in this house now, because every single one of my boys knows-

They never want a picture like this to ever come back to haunt them:

The Seckman's circa 1987
my sister-in-law Corinne; their cousin Danny,
and that hot guy, with the toddler sized clothes on?
That's my man.

And just so the world knows...twenty-seven years later?

He's still got it...

Chad Seckman
the anti-fashionista

The clothes of a toddler, that is.

*This post and pictures were approved by Mr. Seckman, who is man enough to carry a pink purse...if only his wife would let him.

  1. Are you sure it's our husband's humiliation? He seems just fine from my end. I mean he did do another picture in similar clothes. Plus I'm a bit of an anti fashionista myself. Not that far but I'm definitely no slave to fashion. As my mother is still trying to accept.

    1. You are always the wise one! You're right, he isn't the one with the problem...he loves himself and knows his clothes don't define him.

  2. GOOD FOR YOU CHAD! This is awesome. Life is WAY TOO SERIOUS....

We all need to have fun! Hey, man... you can still pull it off!

And Elizabeth... if he wants to carry a pink purse. LET HIM! LOL

    1. It's definitely too short to obsess over clothes.

I guess he does get to carry a purse Michael. He's also one of those good sports who will tote his wife's purse through the mall while I shop. Maybe I will get us a pink one ;)

    2. LOL... good for the both of you. When I shop with my female friends, I always end up carrying their purse, purchases, and bottled water. I am such a gent. LOL.

    3. So, Michael...when are we going shopping ;)

  3. *Laughing!* Move over, Elizabeth, I want your man...to pose for a photo titled: "Why wear clothes at all?" or "Real Men Wear Knee High Socks" or "I Might Buy Clothes at Walmart, but I Have Ripped Abs". I wanna go for drinks with the two of you (after he changes into real clothes).

On an entirely different note, thanks so much for your comment on my article. I also read your comment on Robin's post about me. Girlfriend, you need not be intimidated by my humor. You're always making me laugh -- not just giggle, but laugh out loud. Plus, I envy your writing skills and productivity.

    Smiles,

How did you know about the Wal Mart clothes? He once hit pay dirt at Wal Mart. A whole stack of jeans for $3.00 a pair. He bought every pair in his size...he has enough fugly jeans to last him a lifetime!

It was a wonderful article. Love that you smile through the hard stuff. It's a reminder that we shouldn't whine over broken nails and such. And I do love your quick wit! It leaves me awed, puts me in that envy (the good kind, I swear!) the talent zone super fast.

    1. It's a simple story really...if it is in his drawer, Chad Seckman will wear it. My guess is he had those clothes since his freshman year and figured if they fit, they were to be worn.

  11. This post is hilarious. I laughed and laughed and laughed some more. I think you should buy a pink purse just so that he can carry it and you can snap his photo. We all need a good chuckle.

    1. I used to wear them too. As a girl, I was all about the "Flash Trash"...chopping up tees and sweatshirts like on Flashdance. It was a special time for fashion.

  13. Sweet Mother of Mountains! I love that your man is confident enough to rock a pink purse. (good job keeping him out of the pink purses, so not his color, a nice purple, however...)
