Cassie Mae & Butt Stamping

Welcome to Ms. Cassie Mae!
She's here to answer a few questions...
they're short and sweet,
just like us :)

Cassie Mae!!

HERE!!
 1. Marketing. You're a natural at making readers your loyal friends. Any tips on how other writers can work your magic?

Readers ARE my friends. I wrote my book for me, but also for them. So when they take the time to comment on my author page, or email me, I take the time to respond because they are what make me love writing. The tip is simply interaction.

2. Best reader feedback (and don't use mine...I don't want to be a glory hog ya know ;)

There are so many (that was so not supposed to sound cocky, but it probably came out that way) but it was probably when one of my readers emailed me with a list of reasons why she fell for my book, and she included the fact that I answered a question she had for me when she finished. Again, the interaction thing, but also, I felt extremely humbled after that… and bawled like a baby! LOL.

3.  You've done self publishing and traditional publishing. Can you give me a plus and minus for each one?

Self publishing Con: Limited resources. I have to do everything myself and I can only do so much. And pirating sites are awful, and I have to deal with them all by my lonesome.

Self publishing Pro: I get to keep the majority percentage of my sales. I have full control over my cover, my publishing date, my pricing. And I can keep my titles :)

Traditional publishing Con: Lots of waiting. Lots and lots of waiting. Waiting for edits. Waiting for cover art. Waiting for publishing date.

Traditional publishing Pro: The awesome team I have behind me. My cover artist, my publicist, my marketing team, my editor, my agent. They get me spots and interviews I couldn’t get myself, and they make sure my book is not pirated! I’m left with the fun stuff… which is talking to my readers and writing books :)

4. You're a busy, busy lady! Four books in one year, a couple of cutie pie little boys, and a new baby girl...wow!

You wanna just nap a minute and I'll entertain everyone with a dramatic reading of the morning wood excerpt from your latest masterpiece?

No? Fine. What's the secret, how are you balancing it all?

I’m not, haha! Really, I do what I can when I can, and I have a great group of critique partners who keep me sane when I lose it. Which probably happens once a week.

5. If you were going to adorn those hot little sweat pants you're wearing like the teens you write about, what would you stamp on your butt?

Sweet Cheeks :)

  5. Cassie Mae is my hero! :)

She's the kind of author I want to be: Successful. :) No but really, she's fun and silly and kind and that reaching out to others thing is huge. She's a terrific role model for what an author should be.

And really, how can you not love her.

    2. LOL Well, it's comfy Friday so these butt stamps are the well-worn and much-stretched remnants leftover from my NA years at the beginning of this century. Pulling them up was a public service! ;-)

    3. LOL. If i was forced to wear pants stamped with writing I'd go with "Wide Load"...not an attempt at self-deprecating humility, I just wouldn't want to hear people tell me my sweet cheeks went sour or something.

  7. I couldn't name the best reader feedback I've had on my books. But that is the best thing about being an author.

    1. I agree Alex. Nothing tops it. And no matter how tricky, complicated, and tiresome the writing game becomes, it's reader feedback that keeps me coming back.

  18. Hey Elizabeth and the Cassie,

Two of my amazing fans on here. Gosh and shucks, y'all.

I don't like to think in the plural when I make reference to somebody reading my stuff. I like to think it's just the one reader knowing that we are having an intimate experience. And I can see you value the reader as much as you value your characters.

And the interaction you have with those who have contacted you and your sincerity in responding are most endearing qualities, my good friend.

I've never had any bad feedback. Okay, maybe once, or was it twice, or...

    Nifty neato interview, Elizabeth.

Yep, bonus points for commenting at four in the morning. Somebody get me a coffee. Thank you!.

A starstruck fan of the both of you,

    Gary :)
