I'd Like to Thank the Academy...No? Then I'll Thank the Bloggers...

Rena at Doctor Faerie Godmother offered me this award and I'm happy to accept it. Thanks Rena!

Here are my answers to Rena's Questions:

a.        What naive misconception did you have about writing books when you started? I honestly thought if my first draft wasn't magic, then I must suck. I imagined writers sat down and spun tales as easily as the Harlem Gobe Trotters spin basketballs.  Reality is, both take practice.

b.      What is your favorite part of writing? The actual writing. I always thought the book signings and such would be the best part, and I do love it....but it's the pulling the chair up to the computer desk and getting to work that keeps my blood flowing.

c.       What is the one thing you would change about publishing and why? I think right now is a marvelous time to be a writer. There are so many more options open that didn't exist a few years ago. As of right now, I'd change nothing.

d.      Do you have an inspiration list? Not really. I read my Bible and pray before I write. God created the world with words; they are powerful little things. I always want to use them wisely!

e.       If you were a super villain, what would be your fatal flaw? Insecurity. All someone would have to say is, "You look fat in those jeans!" and I'd have to stop, whine about it, and then seek reassurances from friends. During that time my evil empire would be infiltrated!

f.       If you were a super hero, what would be your super power? I'd be an empath. I was a quiet child, so I listened more than I talked. I think that helped me be better in tune with what people are feeling than if I was a loud, active sort of kid.

g.      If you could go on a trip to a tropical island but you didn’t get to pack anything before you left, would you go? Yes. If I can take my Visa. It's everywhere I want to be.

And Linda King of Excuse Me While I Note That Down offered me this award. Of course I love it!!! Thank you Linda!

Now both awards require I add 7-11 random things about myself. I split the difference, used my amazing math skills and will add 9 things About Me!

1. I was not a cheerleader in high school.
2. Everyone always thinks I was a cheerleader in high school.
3. I have nothing against high school cheerleaders.
4. I am as awkward as the whitest white girl on the dance floor.
5. I have zero coordination and often trip going up steps.
6. Although I have the perkiness, above mentioned flaws stopped me from ever considering being a cheerleader in high school.
7. My best friend in high school was a cheerleader. She wasn't really perky, but could do a back hand spring.
8. I can't even do a summersault.
9. I really don't give a damn that I can't tumble or cheer. If I want to live the life of a high school cheerleader, I'll write about it.

Thanks ladies!! I appreciate the awards, and the fact that you thought of me. :)

Now, I've seen these awards around, so I am going to only pass them on to a single blogger. She's new, she's fresh, and she's always in my inbox...Ms. Celeste Holloway of Words Done Write!

  4. Hey,

Cute answers and I think it would be funny to hear your cheerleading stories - even if you have none :)

You could call it "Cheerleaders Chat" :)

  6. Congratulations on both awards. I have the same naive misconception you had about writing. Probably all of us had it. Then comes the truth, hahaha. Good for you!

    1. It is a very important lesson. What separates the good from the not-so-good is usually time and effort...not talent.

  7. Ha! Yeah, if you want to be a cheerleader, matador, or dragon slayer, all ya gotta do is write about it! You'll have many more awards to come! Thanks for passing them over to me. I'd make a speech, but already, the tears are flowing, and I'm low on tissue. :P

  9. Congrats on the awards Liz.

If you could go on a trip to a tropical island but you didn’t get to pack anything before you left, would you go?

Absolutely not! That sounds like human trafficking. Plus I already live on a tropical island (Jamaica) where I can have all my stuff with me thank you very much. (Sorry but that question weirds me out).

    Have a great day Liz!!

(I'm sitting here in chilly, gray WV feeling eager for some sun and sand...but not eager enough to go with traffickers!)

  10. I totally agree that the best part about writing is the writing part. All this marketing stuff is SO time consuming. I just want to write! :) haha

  11. I always want to market when I'm writing and write when I'm marketing, lol. I'm difficult to please apparently.

And Miss Insecurity, I'd do the same thing! We'll go wallow in Ben and Jerry's while the good guys win the battle. ;)

  13. Ah, I totally eat it on the stairs to. Too bad for me, it's usually going down (d'oh!).

I also had a friend in high school who was a cheerleader, but she couldn't do a back hand spring.

(and yeah, I'd be a terrible villain if people called me out on my muffin top!!)

I took my first tumble down steps two weeks ago. Don't want to make a habit out of that!
