Happy Birthday Baby!!!!!

As Bill Maher picks up the burn Hilary Rosin poked toward stay-at-home moms, turns it into a torch, and totally sprints to the finish line in an effort to scald us good...well I just don't really give a rat's hiney.

For one...I don't have a single ounce of respect for Maher, so what he thinks is irrelevant to me.

Reason #2, Maher is an entertainer, and he can send his millions to the White House, but that doesn't make him a policy maker...so puff away big bad wolf...I live in a house made of bricks.

And finally, my third and final reason...tomorrow is my baby's 18th birthday!!!

And it's his fault I quit work.

See that cutie pie down there? At that age, he started racing me from the babysitter to my car,  begging me not to go. He was crazy in love with me. I was his favorite person in the whole big bad world.

And I knew that wouldn't last.

Of course, he still loves me, but he's almost a man.

He's got his focus on college and career.

He's got his roots. He's strengthening his wings. And he's about to fly.

To my son I say...thank you.

Thank you for slowing me down.

It was one heck of a trip.

Caleb. 1 year old. Mommy's little helper. (he uprooted as many as he planted!)

Sadly, he's lost this sense of fashion.

He just had to know. Yes, rolling down a hill in a barrel was fun. And nauseating.

Senior Night. No, I didn't cry.

And to my son...

Hold fast to dreams,
For if dreams die,
Life is a broken winged bird
That cannot fly.

  5. Okay... I'm feeling a little emotional now. Yeah - I'm waiting for the tears to drip over as I think of my own little guy one day growing up and ready to take flight on his own. .

You are so cute though. What a beautiful, heart-felt tribute to your son. I love this. I hope he has a wonderful birthday! I can tell that he is super lucky to have you as his mother. :)

  6. Ah, thanks Leigh (now I think 'or Abby'). Being a mom is the best job I have ever had. And you're right, the time flies. Enjoy it.

  7. Aww!! Happy Birthday!
And oh, the fashions of the early 90's. My parents dressed me in some bright, crazy pattern stuff! haha.
    This was adorable!

    1. Don't blame that outfit on me Ashley...Caleb was an independent thinker..he bought all that himself!

  8. Happy birthday Mom! My oldest is 16 and I'm dreading that 18-and-gone year. Of course, I have a 6 year old (hello bonus baby) so I'm not as teary eyed as I could be. :))

    1. I have three more, but they're each two years apart, so once this starts, it'll be like dominoes. Hmmm...bonus baby...my husband would kill me!

  9. Happy birthday to Caleb!

You know, my mom would tell you to enjoy some of the free time you're gonna get, when we started to move out and away she got supper involved in the temple. As of right now, between my parents, there is only one committee run by someone not in our family.

  10. Just hearing the name Bill Maher makes me want to vomit, and I don't even know the argument to which you're referring. :) It doesn't matter.

Happy birthday to your son. Looks like you've done a pretty good job raising him. :)

    1. I didn't even link him; not worth looking him up.
And thanks, I think I did pretty well. :)
