IWSG Tiny Little Update

6:00 AM Elizabeth Seckman 42 Comments

Since our last check-in, big things in one tiny package have happened in my world. Meet my newest granddaughter, sweet Sylvia Coraline joined the family. Her big sister is happy to have a real-life baby doll of her own.

On the writing front, I have been adding words to stories. Hopefully, I'll have a new book to share with the world some day. I've been such a slacker that it's like starting over. I keep planning to do better. I need to write more, blog more, and send out my newsletter more often. Maybe I'll start this month. Midyear is a as good a time as any to have resolutions.

Thank you to this month's awesome co-hosts!
PJ Colando, Pat Garcia, Kim Lajevardi, Melisa Maygrove, and Jean Davis, you guys rock!

What were some books that impacted you as a child or young adult?
Black Beauty, Little Women, and Heidi were a few of my most favored books from my childhood.

  4. Oh Elizabeth, that's amazing! Huge congrats. We're a couple years behind you as my oldest is seriously looking at parenthood now but I'm okay not to take the leap yet. Still have littles in the house...though they're not as little as they used to be.

    1. I honestly don't think there was an ounce of jealousy so far. Violet is so enamored with babies, having a real baby in her house has been like Christmas for her!

  12. All great book choices. Growing up we had a series of hardcover editions for kids. Heidi and Black Beauty are among them. I still have the books, behind a glass case in my living room. Congratulations on your beautiful new granddaughter!

    1. I will! Violet is already a reader. Okay, so she likes to open books and tell her rendition of what is happening, but that's the start of reading and story telling!

  15. Congratulations on your newest granddaughter! Sisters are the best. All the books you mentioned were my favorites too, although I didn't read Heidi till I was an adult.

    1. I didn't read Anne of Green Gables until I was an adult and it became a favorite too. I have two sisters and couldn't imagine growing up without my sisters. It's definitely a special bond.

    1. I've not really thought about that, but that will be special. Maybe one day they will read them. I hope they like them. That's a new level of pressure to write decent stories!!

  20. Awww---welcome to the world, baby doll! What an adorable photo. I became a great grandmother in April.!! Have fun with kiddies while you can. They grow up too fast. I am having a difficult time thinking of my daughter as a grandma!

  21. What a precious photo! And I love her name - so pretty.

I've been slacking too and for quite a long time. Lately I've been managing about 1 editing session per week, which is just sad.

  22. Congratulations on the newest addition. Heidi was one of my favourites - I had the tiniest, most delicate edition... but I lost it somewhere. I'm hoping it'll turn up in a box in the back of the loft or a cupboard or my mum's loft, at some point.
