IWSG Evening Post

Thanks to our awesome co-hosts for the April 2 posting of the IWSG are Jennifer Lane, L Diane Wolfe, Jenni Enzor, and Natalie Aguirre!

What fantasy character would you like to fight, go on a quest with, or have a beer/glass of wine with?
IWSG admins, you forgot, "What fictional character would I like to have dinner with..."

As we all know, I play by my own rules. I don't read much fantasy, so I am defaulting to my favorite fictional story and my favorite fictional character. And since it's my blog, my rules and I do what I want, I would have dinner with Mammy from Gone with the Wind. We could talk about making a silk purse out of a sow's ear and dish on what a little bitch Scarlet can be. We would also be able to have a real heart to heart about whether or not we think Rhett will ever forgive Scarlett for being such a cold, nasty little number. If there's no hope of a reconciliation, Mammy and I could probably find a nice, sweet girl to fix him up with.

Anything else just ain't fittin'.

BTW, Hattie McDaniels, who played Mammy in the film version, won an Oscar for her performance but because of segregation didn't get to attend the Academy Awards to accept the honor.

As for insecurities, I forgot to post until dinner time, so that pretty much sums up the month of March for me. :)

  1. I just thought I'd throw a hello out to you. Ya know I don't blog anymore. After publishing 40 novels I 'retired'...just on Blogger now because I'm (slowly) editing long ago written stories and starting to serialize them to a blog. Wanted particularly to send you love, because you were the ONLY 'blogger friend' who actually ever bought one of my books. And I really appreciated it.

  2. Couldn't attend the awards. What a shame. Bet at first, hardly any women were allowed to attend, either. How times have changed!

  3. Considering that servants and slaves weren't "seen" , I'll bet Mammy has all sorts of stories!

  4. I can see you and Mammy fixing him up with someone else!

  5. Spending time with "Mammy" to gossip about her charge would be fun, but Hattie McDaniel attended the Academy Awards. She was there to accept her Oscar. She had to sit in the back of the room because of segregation, but she was definitely there. I've seen the film of her accepting her award.

    Love,
    Janie

  6. I like your interpretation of the 'rules.' That's how life should be!

  7. It's so sad that she couldn't attend the awards ceremony. I'm glad at least that has changed.

  8. What a great pick! And as someone else pointed out, since servants weren't really "seen", they were privy to all sorts of juicy info. I suspect many people in service jobs today could say the same--a lot of people see them as background, as furniture, so they hear all sorts of stuff. I've always thought being a custodian would be the perfect job for a spy.
