Virus worry getting you down? I was starting to go a little crazy obsessively watching the news and dress rehearsing the worst case scenarios. Yep, pretty sure I saw Mad Max cruising my neighborhood....
Crazy, I know.
When times get tough and the brain gets busy the best way to slow it down is to get busier. The news and the numbers were starting to make me feel a bit crazy, so I got off my phone and got active. Walked the dog, mowed the grass, weeded the flower beds, scrubbed down the bathroom, and worked on a new book cover!
Father Dragon has been helping me come up with a cover for a new book. I love the graphic covers on chick lit novels and I wanted one. I knew Father Dragon was an artist, so I messaged him and we've been working all week on the perfect cover. (By we, I mean, Father Dragon has done all the work and I've done all the oohing and ahhing,)
It's almost finished, so be looking for the cover reveal to be coming soon!
Since I can't share the cover, I'll share tulips.
My tulips are gorgeous this year. I was a bit worried at the beginning of spring, The deer were snacking on them faster than they could grow. Years ago, someone told me to sprinkle human hair in the flower beds to scare them away. I didn't have human hair I was willing to part with, but I do have three dogs with lots of fur to spare. I sprinkled it around the flowers and that solved the deer problem.
Even though the world is a bit upside down right now, there's still many hoppy reasons to celebrate. Easter blessings to you and yours.
Looking forward to the cover! Does the Fellowship get a sneak peek?
ReplyDeleteMight as well get busy and get your mind off the numbers.
Yes, the fellowship does.
DeleteIt's always better to stay busy. Nothing I can do about the numbers anyhow.
I wonder if cat hair would also work? Not for deer but for squirrels. I planted eggplant on Saturday and the squirrels have since eaten the plants.
ReplyDeleteI hope to see your cover soon.
I bet it would. I figured any predator smell would spook them and it seems to have worked.
DeleteThank you for stopping by at my blog!
ReplyDeleteYour tulips look beautiful! I can't wait to plant this year's flowers on my terrace. I wonder if the hair thing would also solve snail problems? I declared war on them last year, I need to update my weapon strategy.
My pleasure!
DeleteNo, I don't think it would work for snails, but pans of beer do.
Awesome you have tulips already. Mine won't come up for another month. I have to be busy too and just spent the morning cleaning.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your cover.
We usually have our spring blooms in time for Easter. Mine are just now starting to drop their petals. Time to plant some summer flowers!
DeleteI don't have a deer or squirrel problem, but anything I plant gets eaten by slugs, snails and earwigs and when they're finished the caterpillars get a go. This is why I don't plant vegetables. I love your tulips.
ReplyDeleteWe have a snail problem too. No earwigs though, so there is a bonus. Pans of beer will lure in and kill the slugs and snails. The worst thing I ever had in my garden was a ground mole. That little booger was digging up everything. I let the dog dig at his holes until he decided to change yards.
DeleteThose orange tulips are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing pics. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was one of those days when words might have come out gloomy and we've got enough of that- so go for the pictures!
DeleteHappy Easter! Can't wait to see the cover! I LOVE your tulips, mine are just starting and I'm not sure how they'll work this year. Planted pansies and they're doing well so far...
ReplyDeleteMine are about twenty years old. My boys each got me one for Mother's Day the year before their little brother was born (that's why there are 3 colors). I told Conner he needs to buy me a tulip this year, so I have a color for each boy.
DeleteI never knew that about hair. I heard that if you peed there the deer wouldn't come. Hair might be easier lol
ReplyDeleteI think pee would work. Anything that leaves behind a predator's scent.
DeleteYes, the Fellowship should certainly get a sneak peek. Those tulips are absolutely gorgeous Liz, I'm envious. Would love to have a garden full of flowers. I too have given up looking at the news and numbers, we can't do anything about it except do as we're told and stay home.
ReplyDeleteI keep moving the bulbs as they get too full. One day, my whole yard will be a burst of color in the spring...if all goes well.
DeleteThere's no sense watching. Unless you want to be aggravated by politicians acting like all that matters is power instead of people.
Happy Easter, Twinnie, and now, 31 years later, I now know the answer to why every man in Holland is Bald during the spring months...
ReplyDeletePS: Wishing you and yours a happy Easter, and if you're staying home (sorry, couldn't help it) have a great/relaxing holiday weekend. :)
PPS: I can only imagine how awesome the cover is going to be, so will you share it with us already :)
That's funny! Yep, men of Holland, beware!
DeleteWe did stay home. We made pizza and watched the Passion of the Christ. Not exactly traditional, but it worked for us.
Ooh, those tulips are so pretty! Love how vivid the orange ones are. And how exciting about the new book! Looking forward to its cover reveal. ^_^
ReplyDeleteThe orange is the most hardy too. They grow like wild.
DeleteI should be getting the final cover soon, so be looking for it!
Lovely tulips. I tried that in my yard, but those pesky squirrels got them all. LOL I can't wait to see your new cover!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I blamed the deer, but it could be squirrels. Or rabbits. I think they all find their bulbs to be delicious.
DeleteTulips are pretty. And they're very hardy for being as delicate looking as they are.
ReplyDeleteThose tulips are so pretty. All the photos below the first tulips are show up as missing (gray circles with a white line through them) :-(
