A Little Inspiration
Top 10 Inspirational Quotes
By the wonderful Lori McLaughlin!
Thank you, Elizabeth, for having me over!!
Doubts. We all have them. Whenever we reach for our
dreams, they sneak up on us and blindside us with words of our own inadequacy.
We're not good enough, smart enough, talented enough. We can't possibly do
whatever it is we want to do. Whenever those doubts start whispering in my ear
and dragging me down, I go for some positive reinforcement. These are some of
my favorite quotes that never fail to pick me up and get me going again.
1.
"When we believe, all things are
possible." ~ Based on Mark 9:23 of the King James Bible (Jesus said unto
him, "If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that
believeth.")
2.
"If you can dream it, you can do it." ~
Walt E. Disney
3.
"It always seems impossible until it's
done." ~ Nelson Mandela
4.
"Do or do not. There is no try." ~ Yoda
5.
"You don't always need a plan. Sometimes
you just need to breathe. Trust. Let go. And see what happens." ~ Mandy
Hale
6.
"Courage is being scared to death but saddling
up anyway." ~ John Wayne
7.
"Twenty years from now you will be more
disappointed by the things you didn't do than the ones you did do. So throw off
the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your
sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." ~ Mark Twain
8.
"A bird sitting on a tree is never afraid
of the branch breaking, because its trust is not on the branch but on its own
wings. Always believe in yourself." ~ Unknown
9.
"You have galaxies inside your head. Stop
letting people tell you you cannot shine." ~ Unknown
10. "A
flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it. It just blooms."
~ Zen Shin Talks by Sensei Ogui

Tara Triannon is no stranger to trouble. She's yet to
find an enemy her skill with a sword couldn't
dispatch. But how can she fight one that attacks through her dreams?
dispatch. But how can she fight one that attacks through her dreams?
With her nightmares worsening, Tara seeks answers but
finds only more questions. Then her sister, Laraina, reveals a stunning secret
that forces Tara to go to the one place Tara's sworn never to return to. Her
troubles multiply when Jovan Trevillion, the secretive soldier of fortune who
stole her heart, is mentally tortured by an ancient Being intent on bending him
to its will. And worst of all, the Butcher — the terrifying wolf-like assassin
she thought she'd killed — survived their duel and is hunting her again.
Hounded by enemies, Tara sets out on a harrowing quest
to discover the true nature of who she is, to come to grips with the new
volatility of her magic, and to defeat the evil locked in a centuries-old trap
that will stop at nothing to control her magic and escape through her
nightmares.
Lori L. MacLaughlin traces her love of fantasy
adventure to Tolkien and Terry Brooks, finding The Lord of the Rings and The
Sword of Shannara particularly inspirational. She's been writing stories in
her head since she was old enough to run wild through the forests on the farm
on which she grew up.
She has been many things over the years – tree climber,
dairy farmer, clothing salesperson, kids' shoe fitter, retail manager, medical
transcriptionist, journalist, private pilot, traveler, wife and mother, Red Sox
and New York Giants fan, muscle car enthusiast and NASCAR fan, and a lover of
all things Scottish and Irish.
When she's not writing (or working), she can be found
curled up somewhere dreaming up more story ideas, taking long walks in the
countryside, or spending time with her kids. She lives with her family in
northern Vermont.
Swept Away got a couple of great reviews from fellow authors. Stephanie Faris, Crystal Collier, Jessica Kile, and Susan Swett Swiderski. These ladies left such nice reviews, I am just beside myself. All of these ladies are so very talented in their own writing, I take their praise to high credit.
I dedicated Swept away to our fellow blogging buddy, Jo Wake. Jo has been so giddy, it has made publication of this book as exciting as the first.
Seriously, the support from fellow authors and bloggers has just been the most amazing part of the writing process.

Those are perfect! And really like the first one - Amen.
ReplyDeleteThat's always been my favorite. I have a little plaque with those words on my wall so I can read them every day.
DeleteWonderful inspirational quotes, must remember these.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
I find them so helpful when things aren't going so well. :)
DeleteSome great quotes indeed. May all bloom away in their own way.
ReplyDeleteAmen.

ReplyDeleteAny time, Lori! Your book sounds like a great read. I'll have to add it to my book-bucket list.
DeleteThose were great, Lori! I had the hardest time trying to figure out what "bowlines" were. I read them as 'bo-leens.' What a dummy! My fave quote is "I love deadlines. I love the whooshing sound they make as they fly past." LOL!
ReplyDeleteSort of like the sound of email flying off on my phone. LOL
DeleteHa, ha, that's funny. :) And I love the deadlines quote. So true.
DeleteI love Yoda's quote and often use it. There was a good one in The Dish but I don't remember it exactly, something about the regret for not trying is worse than the fear of failure.
ReplyDeleteVery wise words.
DeleteLove the quotes, Lori. Love your cover and your book sounds amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cathrina!
DeleteI love a good quote. Quotes do inspire me.

That Yoda...simple brilliance.
DeleteYoda was an amazing character.
DeleteThis reminds me of a book a friend told me to read once--"Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway." I think that's the key to anything we really want in life. If we're scared, it probably means we're pushing ourselves and we'll be better because of it!
ReplyDeleteI think you're completely right. And every fear you face and conquer makes you that much stronger for the next challenge.
DeleteThat's so true. As scary as it is, life is much more exhilarating outside our comfort zones.
DeleteI might just have to steal some of these! Thanks, Lori.
ReplyDeleteMost certainly! Steal away.
DeleteHa, ha, be my guest!
DeleteYou have some great quotes in that list, Lori.
ReplyDeleteIt was tough choosing a favorite, but I'm going to go with the bird. Love that.
DeleteThank you, Jacqui!
DeleteI love all of those quotes. Very inspirational.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Chrys! They always make me feel better.
DeleteGreat quotes, and they come from such an eclectic mix of sources!
ReplyDeleteWhenever I come across a quote that "speaks" to me, I write it down in a notebook, so I have quite a collection. It'd be hard to pick one favorite, but this is a good one: "People are like stain-glassed windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed. Only if there is a light from within." [Elisabeth Kubler-Ross]
Oh, I like that one. I haven't heard it before. I started collecting them on my Pinterest page. Many of them have visuals to go with them which I like.
DeleteWonderful inspirational quotes. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThank you, and you're welcome! :)
DeleteWonderful quotes! And some that were new to me so that is always great. I think the bird on the tree branch is my favorite. How perfect!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the great reviews, Elizabeth!!
Thanks, Julie! The bird quote is fairly new to me, too. I like it a lot.
ReplyDeleteI liked the bird one so well, I turned it into a meme.
DeleteFantastic quotes! It's amazing just how a few words can perk a person up and motivate them to do something. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's because words are magical. :)
DeleteThanks! Yes, it is.
DeleteAnd yes, they are!
Great stuff here, Elizabeth! My favorite is number 5. "You don't always need a plan. Sometimes you just need to breathe. Trust. Let go. And see what happens." ~ Mandy Hale
ReplyDeleteIn order to survive life, sometimes we need to sit back a moment and just breathe. Thanks for sharing this with your readers.
Thanks for reading!
DeleteCongrats Lori. Love the quotes. Each one I read I thought was my favorite. Yeah, I'm indecisive that way, but they were all great.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed them!
DeleteAll great words of inspiration! I love that John Wayne one especially. I think he demonstrated it well when he threw that kid into a lake (gif here).
ReplyDeleteHa, ha, that's one way of doing it.
DeleteSuper quotes, Lori!! You are always so inspiring. Thank you. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Nicola, for the kind words! I hope your week is wonderful, as well.
