Easy A

My first job in counseling was in a group home for delinquent youth. We had a therapeutic motto:
Accept and move on.
Sometimes things happen that honestly just suck. Things that are out of our control and cannot be changed. All that can be changed is whether or not you allow the event to trap you in a negative place, or you can accept and move on.

                                                                      **********
I saw this idea for an easy art project: it's a collage post card! You know that craft you did in kindergarten by cutting pictures from magazines and pasting on card stock? Make them in post card size and voila...you are now an Artist, my friend!

Super Easy Apple (sort-of) Pie

Looks a little ugly, but it's delicious. Makes its own crispy crust!
Peel and dice 1 large apple (I prefer Granny Smith for the tartiness)
Mix apple dices together with
2 eggs
1/2 Cup flour
1/2 Cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Pour mix into a greased pie pan
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes
Great with whipped cream or ice cream.

  3. That statement is so true.
In the movie Super 8, the main character tells the alien 'Sometimes bad things just happen.' And it's the same sentiment - they happen, but we have to move on.

    1. Sadly, so many bad things happen that we cannot control. We have to keep moving past those and deal with the things we can control.

  17. Accept and let go. I'm finally learning this art. Not easy. Sometimes I think I've let go only to find that same old garbage just moved to another location and is still Hanging Out. It does feel awesome when you finally dump it for good.

    1. I think as part of the acceptance, we have to also learn if there is anything within the situation that we can control...are we walking away from one toxic friend and picking up another?
But the important part is understanding that we can't change the past. We must move forward and not beat ourselves up. We're smarter and stronger each day.

Accepting and moving on usually involves forgiveness, and I find that when I get stuck and can't move on, it's because I am hanging on to unforgiveness. Great post!
