Yesterday, I had a conference with my editor (or as my husband so accurately understood that meant I Facebook chatted while answering his Trivia Crack challenge), and Defying Reason should be ready to launch in mid- February!
So, I am adding the cover to the coming soon category and looking for blog stops. My plan is small promos with a new odd fact for each stop (playing on the Defying Reason idea). Anyone who has space available, I'd be grateful for the help.
Now, about those Apps....
I love saving money.
Money saved is money not spent, therefore it's just like money earned.
First, and the easiest ever way to save money is with the Wal Mart Savings Catcher. It's price matching without hauling in the sale ads! I got the app on my iPhone, so all I have to do is scan the QR code on the receipt. So easy!!
Another savings app is iBotta. Basically, you scan the bar code of an item they offer a rebate on, take a picture of the receipt and you get money back.
I also love writing!
Being the list making, need to quantify what I've done in a day sort of gal, I wanted a way to log in the number of hours I was working. I downloaded the Writing Journal and I love it.
It has a timer, so when you sit down to write, you can time yourself. Then when you're done, log in your word count and the Writing Journal keeps track of your stats- rate, word count, project total, and combined total. The app is free if you only want to log in one project. 2.99 for the upgrade.
And I LOVE playing games!!
My latest addiction: Trivia Crack.
I got this to play my kids, especially my guys away at college.
It was a fun way to interact, get my butt kicked and have fun.
The upside is that it's a quick back and forth. Since I'm no genius, I can play all the games on my challenge list in about ten minutes. Or I can just play the games that are expiring- I have two days to respond.
I even let Tara Tyler beat me a time or two. It's just fun!
That's it for the Apps.
But I do have more good stuff. I got this before Christmas and kept waiting for the perfect time to brag it up a little. One of my favorite bloggers, Ms. Sheena Kay Graham has a cover for her upcoming book. Yay!!!
Isn't it lovely? Congratulations Sheena-Kay!!!
Huge congrats on your release date, Elizabeth! I look forward to seeing the cover.
ReplyDeleteSheena-kay's cover is beautiful!
Thanks Emily!
DeleteNever heard of trivia crack, saving dough is always good too. Congrats on the release date
ReplyDeleteI now wish I had never down loaded Trivia Crack, though I am #3 in my circle. Yes, it's a time suck.
DeleteInteresting writing app, I might have to check that one out.
ReplyDeleteI'm still loving it Steven!
DeleteYou can always visit my blog. Let me know :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Mac!
DeleteSheena did great and I tried that Walmart app but I never got money back so I deleted it. Don't hate me!!
ReplyDeleteI put a bigger town in as my store- that way I have more stores to price match against.
DeleteThose are brilliant apps and I love that philosophy.
ReplyDeleteWhen is your tour?
Thanks Donna!
DeleteCongrats!
ReplyDeleteMy wife is the one that makes me keep all the receipts.
She scans them all and tells me we are saving money..
I do ours too. And my husband gets to hear the totals. It's like a savings jinx.
DeleteCheers to the upcoming release date! That's just around the corner. And I don't know if I could write while being timed. The pressure! Plus, does is stop if I take a Trivia Crack break...?
ReplyDeleteThe saddest part of the timer is that I now have empirical evidence of just how slow I am at getting things done.
DeleteI'll have to get the Journal Writing app, and Walmart. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes with the new book.
Thanks Peaches! I'm loving both of those apps so far!
DeleteI don't have a phone where I can use Apps. :(
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your book's upcoming release! :D
I didn't have one until last month. My kids upgraded and gave me one of their old phones.
DeleteYay for a release date. Come over to my blog any time you want!
ReplyDeleteThanks Annalisa!
DeleteThanks for the App tips, Elizabeth! I'm going to see if I can get The Writing Journal for my computer. I need to get a cell phone for the others. Soon!
ReplyDeleteHope it works for you! I'm enjoying tracking my progress.
DeleteThat is a great cover for Sheena's book! And I'm also excited to see yours! Cover reveals are like crack for us book lovers. ;)
ReplyDeleteI do love cover reveals! I have to stop myself from going to cover website and just looking and looking.
DeleteCongrats to Sheena-Kay!! And yay for the February release date for you, Elizabeth! If I downloaded game apps, I'd never get any more writing done! lol
ReplyDeleteTrivia Crack probably wasn't a good idea. No longer recommended. LOL
DeleteCongratulations to Sheena. And wow! You have a Feb release!
ReplyDeleteIt's coming so fast, my head is spinning!
DeleteTrivia Crack - that sounds addictive.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Sheena-kay.
And I will gladly host you on a tour, Elizabeth! Shoot me an email.
Extremely. I found where I can check my ranking...talk about upping the addiction exponentially.
DeletePretty cover for Sheena!
ReplyDeleteI have some February spots open if you want one. :-)
The best I do on Trivia is on MSN games. It can be addictive. :-)
It is a lovely cover!
DeleteYay for Sheena! The cover is gorgeous. So happy for her :)
ReplyDeleteI steer clear of trivia. I'm horrible, terrible, awful. But it sounds like a neat way to keep in touch with those college kids. And congrats on the up-coming book!
I'm pretty decent at it. I know a lot of useless stuff. Ask me how many yards of carpet for a room and I'm useless.
DeleteNice cover, Sheena!
ReplyDeleteThose look like fun apps. I'll have to check them out. I don't play much in the way of games, but I'm all about saving money and writing!
I love to save money. Any money I don't spend is like money earned.
DeleteLooking forward to the cover release. That's one more milestone reached on the way to release. And good luck to Sheena and Where Is Sarah.
ReplyDeleteYep, passing those mile markers one right after the other.
DeleteCongrats on your upcoming book release, Elizabeth!
ReplyDeleteLove Sheena's cover!
Thanks Cherie!
DeleteThat is such a cool cover! Congrats, Sheena!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing Defying Reason in the flesh (or in the paper, I'm not sure which). :)
Let's go with paper. Hehe.
DeleteI LOVE Sheena-Kay's new cover. So awesome.
ReplyDeleteCount me in for helping. I'll take you for a Writerly Wednesday on Feb 25, if that works for you. And that absolutely has to be the LAST feature I schedule until after this baby is here. I keep pushing it out and thinking, "Oh I can fit another one in. No big deal!" But what if they baby comes early? So anyway, rambling over... You're on my calendar.
You're a sweetheart Crystal!! Thanks :)
DeleteOoh, sign me up for your blog tour!! I'd love to help out!! Just email me with details. ;)
ReplyDeleteYay!!! Thanks for the help :)
DeleteCool apps! I like the writing one! And that is an awesome cover!
ReplyDeleteI would love to host you at my blog in mid-February or mid-March on a Wednesday. Let me know what works best for you. :)
Thanks Tyrean!!!
DeleteEach of those apps sounds better than the last ;) I'd be glad to have you at my place, just email me at bulletproof-92 at hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteThanks Michael!!!
DeleteWow, you're so much better at app-hunting than I am! I always feel like there MUST be great apps out there, but I always forget to look for them. Oops. Thanks for the recs!! And congrats, Sheena-Kay!
ReplyDeleteI don't really app hunt, I just am really bad at ignoring pop up ads for the new stuff.
DeleteCongrats to Sheena-Kay and to you! I'm one of the weirdos that don't have a cell phone or tablet. Apps are still foreign thingies to me.
ReplyDeleteI didn't have one until this year. I do love it.
DeleteAnother book launch soon?! Woohoo! I'm proud of you, girlfriend. Congratulations. And that was very kind of you to let Tara beat you.
ReplyDeletePS I'm still enjoying Bella. I'm a very slow reader and haven't been making enough time to read. But I love what a sweet bad-ass she is.
xo
I'm a slow reader too, so I totally understand. Besides, I know life is pretty busy for you and George ;)
DeleteCome on over to the Flipside for a blog stop. I'd love to have ya!
ReplyDeleteThose are some great apps - I have to do some searching to see if there is a comparable Android version.
Congrats on the February release date!
Thanks! I have trivia crack on my kindle too...I think that's Android.
DeleteI avoid Walmart like the plague. Pretty much all my shopping is at either Publix or Amazon! Our closest Walmart is a 15-minute drive and it's mega-packed all the time. I can't even take the crowds at Kroger!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to host you. Let me know!
It is insane, and at our Wal Mart, it's always all lanes waiting. Love Amazon shopping!
DeleteI don't have a smart phone, so no apps for me. :( Although my sister loves to rub it in when she finds a good one.
ReplyDeleteI do love my smart phone. It's been very handy.
DeleteI love the Writing app but if I had the Trivia game I wouldn't have any hours to enter into the Writer app. (I'm easily distracted.)
ReplyDeleteBest of luck on your release next month and Sheena Kay's cover is awesome.
I love the writing app too. The trivia is addictive, some days I wish I had never downloaded it!
DeleteMy hubs is addicted to Trivia Crack! Since I've taught every grade from 1st-7th over the past 13 years, I answer a lot of Q's for him :-)
ReplyDeleteI will often use my guys for the sports questions. Group efforts are allowed.
DeleteHmmm, an app for writing goals... I might have to look that up. On the other hand, I can sort of tell when I'm not working enough. It rattles up my bones and shakes nightmares out when I'm trying to sleep.
ReplyDeleteI think I am just addicted to gadgets. If there is a gadget for a job, I want to try it.
DeleteI love Sheena's cover.
ReplyDeleteI don't like to have too many apps, but I'll check out the writing timer one.
I doubt you'd ever need an app to keep you working! You're amazing!
Deletewhat an awesome cover. And omg trivia crack, it's going to be the downfall of my writing career. My dad introduced me and I wish he hadn't lol
ReplyDeleteIsn't it addictive. I'll play the games I have and then someone will send another and I just can't walk away!
DeleteWriting Journal - is that just apple store, or is it also GooglePlay? Because I couldn't find it.
ReplyDeleteI found it on apple. Not sure about google. Sorry!
DeleteApps are cool. My Android taught me that. Thanks so much for promoting my cover!
ReplyDeleteIt was my pleasure Sheena-kay! I can't wait to read the book.
