It's that time of year again.
And this guy is the prime suspect in the expansion of waistlines and the stretching budgets.
If you see him, just hand him a plate of cookies, slowly back away, and wait for the authorities to arrive. Too much contact with him could leave you sickeningly jolly and generous.
Not that I have a problem with jolly, but I did have a rough weekend and was eagerly perusing the net for something fun, and that gave me a smile.
What went wrong?
The Eagles lost. :(
And bitter fans (like me!) blame a bad call by the ref...but I will let that go. I always lecture my kids not to suck on sour grapes, accept the bad things that can't be changed and move forward.
Yeah. Tough taking my own advice. IT was sooooo unfair!!! Pass interference my fanny!
Ooops. Sorry. Keeping it classy. Moving on...
On the BRIGHT side, I'm talking stars with Mary Pax. I'm sure you all know the lovely, M. Pax. She's talented, sweet, and a WVU alumni (man, those Mountaineers had a rough football weekend too...just like us...getting robbed by a ref...crap! forward to the positive Elizabeth!)
Anyhow, visit me at Mary's HERE!
Also! My cyber twinny, Mark Koopmans, is keeping things positive, with a capital P.
He's hosting the 50 States of Pray. Believe it or not, there are issues far bigger than being robbed of a championship game and we should all take a moment to reflect and get ready for 2014 with some blessings!

ReplyDeleteSorry about the Eagles. It wasn't a great weekend for football.
All signed up for mark's event!
No, it wasn't a great week end or it, but it is, in the end, only a game. And I will never admit I say that with clenched teeth!
DeleteSorry about the loss. :(
ReplyDeleteI love this time of year! I'm already pretty much done with my shopping, now I've started wrapping. :)
Oh Rachel. I am so not liking you right now. (Just joking!) I have a tree and a plan. Beyond that, I am so far behind I am having nightmares.
DeleteSanta Claus and the waistline? Poor Santa, he just can't get a break from the full pockets, too.
ReplyDeletePockets full of cookies, I bet!
DeleteI just noticed your profile, not the pick, but the bum.... Giggling.
ReplyDeleteI dare to dream big Peaches!
DeleteTreading the To-Do List waters this year and trying not to drown LOL. Happy holidays to you !
ReplyDeletePutting it that way, I need a life preserving. My to-do is getting so deep it's making waves!
DeleteAll signed up for Mark's hop, sorry about the Eagles... I'm on my way to see you at Mary's, and if I see a fat guy in a red suit, I'm kicking him in the knee caps. What? I'm already on the list..... :P
ReplyDeleteOn the bright side, with the costs of heating homes, some coal may be more valuable than gifts, so kick away!
DeleteSorry about the loss. I signed up for the 50 States of Pray! :)
ReplyDeleteYay!! Mark thanks you and I do too. A happy e-twinny is a wonderful thing.
DeleteAww, I'm sorry the Eagles lost. That's rough.
ReplyDeleteWhen my sister's husband unexpectedly passed 3 years ago, I quit taking things for granted. Husband Unit's annoying things aren't so annoying anymore. Someday I'll miss them.
Before that even, I quit taking small things for granted. It's no small thing to be warm, comfortable, dry, and fed on a daily basis. Not small at all.
Yep, loss has taught me not to sweat the small things. There are nuisances in this world and then there are problems. Losing a game is a nuisance. Losing someone you love is a problem.
DeleteSorry for the loss but staying positive is never a bad thing. Oh Santa, what did you do now? Ha, fun post Liz and I'm in with Mark's great event.
ReplyDeleteYay!!! I try to stay positive and do get a little annoyed with myself when I let silly things get under my skin...like a football game. It's just a game.
DeleteAhhhhh man... I was so hoping for a Championship picture, and I can feel your "It's only a game" pain...
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to Cole - and tell him his eUncle owes him a coffee for a job well done.
PS: Thanks, Twinny-ette for always been so supportive and for the awesome Shout Out for the 50 States of Pray :)
You rock like the Grand Canyon :)
Aw thanks Mark. I'm sure Cole would LOVE to fly to Hawaii and get a cup of joe with his e-uncle...he doesn't even like coffee, but I'm sure he'd drink a cup to get to be in Hawaii.
DeleteFunny how attached we can get to games and such, right?
I completely understand bad ref decisions! And I fully support your right to jump up and down and throw something!
ReplyDeleteI was so mad. I had half a mind to leave my trash in the stands I was in such a mood. But I didn't. I picked up all my pop bottles and threw them in the garbage. I will admit I'm hoping this team just gets creamed in the championships...not above that!
DeleteBummer about the game. I'm not a huge football fan, but even I thought that call was bogus.
ReplyDeleteI love it when people agree with me!
DeleteLove the Santa picture
ReplyDeleteI thought he was cute :)
DeleteI know your pain, at least in terms of Aussie Rules football :) My team is often robbed because of stupid/blatantly wrong umpiring decisions - though it happens to all the teams now and then. There's also a sometimes blatant bias against any team from my state because we're "outsiders" (and definitely underdogs) and nobody wants us to win anything. Last year my team was in the Grand Final, and they only lost that game because they let themselves lose it (nerves got the better of them as it was their first ever GF). Still, it was a proud moment seeing them out there!
ReplyDeleteBut enough about AFL! :) And you're so right there are more important issues in the world than a lost football game. It can be surprisingly painful when your team loses though, esp. when they should have won!
This may just be me sucking on those sour grapes again, but people do hold a bias against our team. I always joke that we are the Notre Dame of our state. But that's just my opinion.
DeleteHi, Elizabeth,
ReplyDeleteSorry about the bad call. But as you said … MOVE ON… so much festivities are just around the corner!
Already signed up for Mark's bloghop...
You're right Michael! And you and I know that this sort of thing doesn't really qualify as a problem!
DeleteFor some reason my bank account is very friendly and really skinny this time of year. I, on the other hand, am not :D
ReplyDeleteComing from someone who played sports all her life, few things are more frustrating than a bad call. *Clenches fists, grits teeth*
I have that same issue Samantha! But I think you carry the holiday fun much better than I ever could. You are simply beautiful!
DeleteGreat post at Mary's.
ReplyDeleteThat's a cute Santa pic. I'm going to try to avoid Christmas cookies.
Thanks Medeia! I will try to avoid them, but I predict a fail.
