Top 10 Breakup/Breakup-ish Love Songs

(I notice she didn't pick this gem ;)

Um, no. That didn't make the list. But these did, so Elizabeth, get out the tissues. ;) These songs might not all be about breakups, per se, but they’re full of raw emotion. Excellent for writing breakup scenes...

10. “Easy” by Rascal Flatts ft. Natasha Bedingfield

9. “Won't Be Mine” by Matchbox 20

8. “Should’ve When You Could’ve” by Skillet

7. “6, 8, 12” by Brian McKnight

6. “The Lonely” by Christina Perri

5. “Better Than Me” by Hinder

4. “No Reply” by Steve Conte

3. “Just Give Me a Reason” by Pink ft. Nate Ruess

2. “I Miss You” by Incubus

1. “Fate” by Bleak ft. Ana Johnsson

Bonus: This isn’t a breakup/breakup-ish love song, but it does fit Courage. In fact, I consider it Aiden’s theme song of unrequited love...

Excellent list Carrie! Though that Hank's pretty classy, you might want to reconsider ;)

When college student Rena Collins finds herself nose-to-chest with the campus outcast, she’s stunned. Wallace Blake is everything she’s ever wanted in a man—except he can’t touch her. His uncontrollable strength, a so-called gift from his bloodline, makes every interaction dangerous. And with a secret, supernatural war brewing among his kind, there’s no time to work it out. To keep Wallace in her life, Rena will have to risk a whole lot more than her heart.

    Thank you so much for having me over, Elizabeth!

  2. Great picks! I love Just Give Me A Reason!

    1. I could spend all day listening to music! Especially videos.

    1. I love skillets too. Hehe...the group? Never heard of them. Must go listen.

  4. Usually you only hear those songs right after a breakup.

  5. Love Carrie's play lists, always.
    And her books are even better. :)

  6. Great list! Although I do love me some Hank Williams, too. ;)

    1. I know that song will stay with you for a life time. It's absolutely the most perfect feel sorry for yourself song ever.

  7. Nice list. Isn't is great how music can help us heal after those bad break ups?

  8. Interesting selection. Best luck for your book, Carrie.

    Hi, Elizabeth. I know you're busy but drop by the cave. There is a VIP invitation for you there. Dragon Hugs!

  9. @Kyra - Come to the States for a conference and we'll sing it karaoke-style! ;)

    @Sheena-kay - Thanks for stopping by! :)

    @David - Me too! They're my favorite band. :D

    @Alex - Indeed...

    @Melissa - Thank you so much! :)

  10. lol Tear in my beer. Great list of songs. Congrats to Carrie.

    Happy weekend, Elizabeth!

    1. Play it out Mary, you'll sing it for a lifetime!

      You have a great week end too!

  11. Just about any Country n' Western song could of made that list. Always the same theme. My wife's left me, the dog's died and my pick-up truck wont start.

    And Carrie, you know all your adoring fans just love you. Yep, as I mentioned before, even Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar, loves you. Just when you thought it couldn't get any better.

    Hi Elizabeth!

    1. And I love all of my "adoring fans"--especially Penny! :) Thanks for stopping by, Gary!

  12. I'm so looking forward to reading this. The music isn't bad either ;)
    Congrats, Carrie!!!

  13. "The Lonely" by Christina Perri is one of my favorite songs! Sigh. Carrie rocks. Seriously love her. (And YOU, Liz.)

  14. I cried just scrolling through the song titles. Good grief! My beer is not totally undrinkable.

    Good luck, Carrie. Wish you the very best.

  15. Love, love, LOVE Carrie's books, but I'm sure hoping this focus on breakups isn't a hint at what's coming in book two. *gulp*

    1. I wonder too. Isn't Crystal a clever girl!
