Welcome to the Aberration Blog Hop!
In celebration of the release of her second novel, Aberration, Lisa Regan is hosting The Aberration Blog Hop:  Finding the Most Aberrant Characters.  The Hop runs June 6th and 7th so it’s not too late to sign up!
In Aberration, FBI profiler, Kassidy Bishop is on the hunt for serial killer who is an aberration—a freak—even among serial killers.  For this blog hop, list your top 5 choices for the most aberrant (freakish or abnormal) characters in fiction, TV and movies!
Before we get started, let’s take a look at the definition of aberration:
Definition of ABERRATION
1 : the fact or an instance of deviating or being aberrant especially from a moral standard or normal state
2 : unsoundness or disorder of the mind
3 : an aberrant individual
— ab·er·ra·tion·al  adjective
From the Merriam Webster Online Dictionary

1. The Joker... this guy's only purpose is to create chaos...that's just weird. He burned the money?! Who does that?

2. Hannibal Lector... when you blend the manners of a gentleman and eating habits of the Donner party...you have the bizarre.

3. Keyser Soze... rumor has it Keyser killed his whole family so no one could use them against him. This dude mixed evil intent with cool calculations and that raised the bar on chilling.

4. Freddy Krueger...this dude is a freak...kid killer...dream stalker...what is there about him to love? Nothing. I know.

5. Lex Luthor...but only if you consider the desire for world domination crazy.

All participants will be entered to win prizes (Amazon gift cards; signed copies of Aberration in paperback and e-book versions of the book).

  1. The first two made my list. And show how aberrant I am I included a teenage girl. Keyser makes my skin crawl the most because I've watched real life crime stories about men like that. Great list you picked so many classic baddies Liz. Joker is evil, not weird. Evil and psychotic.

  2. Keyser!!!!! That is a really great pick. They all are actually. I can't believe I didn't think of any of those. Well I thought of Hannibal but figured someone else would put him down. :) Thank you so much for participating!

  3. Lecter is on most lists today, but Keyser Soze - awesome pick! One of my favorite movies.

  4. Those are all great picks...especially Keyser Soze. That was an awesome film.

I find it amazing how comic book characters like The Joker and Lex Luthor have evolved to become -truly- evil as they moved from the 'funny books' to the big screen.

  5. Haha, the joker and hannibal lector made my lists too. They must be a total aberration! Nice to meet you, Elizabeth.

  6. Oh yes, Keyser Soze! Good one! My top pick was Hannibal. He seems to be on everyone's list!

  7. Great list. Lex Luthor seems almost normal by comparison!

  8. Ah, the Joker. Especially if we're talking Heath Ledger's version. Creepy portrayal.

Also, I think I'm the only person who doesn't know who Keyser Soze is. Off to Google...

  9. Never would have thought of Lex Luther! He is a perfect choice, however. :) The Joker and Keyser Soze also are wonderful and worthy choices. Writer’s Mark

  10. Keyser Soze--another brilliant performance by Kevin Spacey. Great list, Elizabeth!

  11. I'm not familiar with Keyser Soze.

2 and 4 creep me out the most.

  12. Hannibal seems to be a popular choice and with good reason. shudders- definitely creepy and sinister in his smoothness.

  13. I loved Lex in Smallville and was sad when he started to go bad. I always said, "Aw, *I* could make Lex happy!" hehe

  14. If Lex Luthor qualifies based on desire for world domination so does The Brain(from Pinky and The Brain).
