Hodge Podge

Think Happy!

Right before the A-Z Challenge, bloggers were debating the effectiveness and necessity of blogs. They say blogs may not be the hip pro platform they once were.

Which makes me say- thank you Lord!!

Now, this blog is mine again. It's not the spot of a pro trying to sell books (though I will...you want one?); it's mine, all mine and I'll do whatever I want.

Today? I'm going to brag, nark, and brag some more.

Brag #1: I'm a good mom.

If the proof really is in the pudding...I deserve a freaking crown. I'm the queen. MY kids are amazing. Spent yesterday helping my eldest son get an apartment ready for his second year of college.

His first year? Totally rocked it. 4.0's both semesters, maintained his scholarships, and spent his leisure time in the gym (or so he told his mom...but with grades like that, she's inclined to believe him!)

And the youngest? Funny story- he has to do a blog for school. He posted from home and didn't sign out of HIS blogger account, so when I hopped on to do my reading and commenting...I was posting as Mr. Seckman.

In the meantime, while he was showing off his blog at school...he had three comments! He was sooooo excited and amazed. I know he felt like king for the day, or at least that class period.

He asked me to pass on a special thanks to Carrie ButlerTammy T (I've decided I'm not going to keep trying to spell Theriault), and C Lee Mckenzie. You gals made his day...and made his teacher quickly set all the kids' blogs to private!

*Blog Note: All my boys, whether the topic of the day's post or not, are handsome and amazing. Seriously swoon worthy.

Now, I must nark. I'm way behind in my edits. I keep thinking, this third book is ready to go...and then anxiety hits and I go back to rewriting...or I don't go back for days. Bad Elizabeth. Not the way to get a book on a shelf!

Now, Brag #2:

This beautiful cover contains a marvelous story written by my friend, Cassie Mae. She gives me chest bumps and brings the awesomesauce to every encounter. She is the best supporter (no, not calling her a jock strap) and friend a writer could ever have. She truly is one of the best chicks evah!!

 Buy it HERE!
Add it HERE!
Love her (or just like her) HERE!

Now, I'm going to go write a bit and then do a radio interview. Wish me luck that my potty mouth or brain farts don't get the best of me!!

  2. 4.0s are something to be celebrated for sure!! Go Mom.

And I wondered if your hubs took up blogging when I saw a "Mr. Seckman" commented on my blog, LOL. Good luck to your son in his blogging future. My daughter Faith has her own blog too, although she doesn't have time to post as often as she'd like. (Which cracks me up when she says that)because I have less time than she does and yet I still manage to do it.

Big Congrats to Cassie Mae. Love the cover.

Keep up the good work Mamma Seckman!!

    1. I offered to let him guest post, but he won't. Maybe I will nudge (or bribe) him. I think it'd be fun! He and I were working on a Christmas story collaboration...but I have to remove my crown a moment...I got busy and put our story on the back burner.

    And very excited for Cassie.

  5. I love that people were commenting back on his blog. That's awesome. It's also awesome that his teacher realized that the internet is a VERY public forum and that the family privacy act is a very Toothy law.

And I know how it goes with edits, I'm in an edit avoidance/anxiety circle of hell right now as well.

    1. Edits stink, huh? Well they do when you feel stuck!

I guess some of the blame is on my son who either did his settings wrong or changed them...but still I had to bug Jeff Hargett for help with my settings, and my kid was only 12.

  7. You are a Queen Mom for sure!

And a swoon worthy, athletic, and intelligent son in his second year of college? I may know an ambitious, athletic, academic oriented, AND southern gal who just finished her second year of college ;)

That's so cute that your son has his own blog! Following in mom's footsteps!

  12. I would not doubt you are an excellent mom. I bet one of the funniest too. Now I understand what was up with the Mr. Seckman comments. I thought I had a new fan, hahahahaha. It was that or that you were doing incognito visits. I am sure the radio interview will rock! Already put the dwarves to cross their fingers for good luck. :)

  14. HI, Elizabeth...

Congrats to you sons.... That is definitely SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF!

Congrats to Cassie too. I won her book, so It is on my TBR which is NEVER-ENDING ESPECIALLY after the A-Z... YOU KNOW I have to read the books I featured. Right?

I just wish I could lay around at the beach and read ALL DAY. HA! FAT CHANCE. I need to EDIT again my first TWO novels, write more on my novella, and BLOG!!!!

Then, don't forget to powerwalk on said beach for two hours. NOT THE SAME... LOL.

I go back to Chicago and my wonderful OFFICE on Sunday. ROAD TRIP! Perhaps I'll run into Molly and Craig...

Maybe not, Montana is not on my route. LOL.

    1. I would feel sorry for you, but you lost all my sympathy with "power walk on the beach". I love to beach walk. I never do it with any power...it's more like a stroll. But I love the beach!!

Awesome that you're going to read our books. I have tons of blog friends books on my kindle and I am getting through them as quickly as I can. I am such a slow reader.

Sorry you have to go back to the office. I vote we both should get to hang out at the beach and call that work! Maybe one day, right?

  23. Hey Elizabeth,

I know you've been eagerly awaiting one of my must read comments. Maybe next time.

Gosh, there were blogs before that amazing alphabet challenge? Okay, after thoroughly skimming, sorry, reading through you posting, it's obvious that your children are going to be as awesome as their "mom" apologies spell check, "mum", happy now, English spell check?

Yep, a blog can be what you want it to be. I think that blogging is, if anything, going too strong. So it's time for millions upon millions of bloggers to stop. Just leave yours, of course, your son's and a few more. And no I wouldn't suggest who else such as KLAHANIE. No, that would be blatant self-promoting and would I do that...

Cassie Mae is amazing just like your amazingly, amazing self, Elizabeth.

Seriously, you should be very proud and I hope you didn't fart during your interview.

    Your starstruck fan,

    Gary!

And thank you for acknowledging my amazingness. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. :)
