Movie Mania
*For the Lucky in Love Blog Hop click HERE!Need more top 10's? CLICK HERE! I love movies. My very most favorites would have to be Gone with the Wind, 16 Candles, Breakfast Club...etc. BUT... I figure you've all heard of them, so I dug to the back and bottom of my movie shelves (I own almost as many movies as I do books!) and I found what I consider some real gems that you may have overlooked or even forgotten. So...in alphabetical order...here are ten movies well worth watching!! |
The Bachelor
Jimmy has twenty-four hours to find a wife of he loses $100,000.
Chris O'Donnell and Renee Zelwegger star in this hilarious search for love and riches.
Cool Runnings
What could be more natural than a Jamaican bob sled team entering the Olympics? A movie about it starring the fabulous John Candy!
Envy

It's a Guy Thing
A romantic comedy about finding the right one...at your bachelor party!

Can a body ever get enough romance? Especially when it comes with a dash of hilarity! Sandra Bullock and Tate Donovan star in this modern day Pygmalion in which science and magic combine to help some geeks find true love.

So I Married an Axe Murderer
I totally love this movie. From Charlie's dad's Scottish wall of fame to the story of love vs. psychopathic tendencies, this movie always makes me giggle as it warms my heart.
Starring Michael Myers and Nancy Travis
Sugar and Spice
When the head cheerleader and the captain of the football team express their love for each other and wind up facing parenthood as teens, it's the besties on the cheer squad who show the truest dedication and turn to bank robbery to help their fellow pom pom pal.
Tomcats
This naughty comedy is all about NOT finding love. Friends make a pact to remain single...last man standing wins a ton of cash. Down to two confirmed bachelors, the stakes jump when Michael loses big in Vegas owing cash or flesh to some bad people. Self-preservation has Michael playing Cupid.
Starring Jerry O'Connell, Shannon Elizabeth
Cool Runnings!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI came across this movie on cable the other day and I had to drop everything I was doing so I could watch it.
Seriously awesome.
I caught a bit of it on cable, then had to order the movie so I could watch it all. Seriously excellent movie.
DeleteSo I Married An Ax Murderer!! High Fives and fist bumps. i love this one even more than Austin Powers..."We have piper down"
ReplyDeleteWay better than Austin Powers baby! The way he plays the dad leaves me rolling.
DeleteLoved tom cats!! Dang girl, you totally took it old school. I hope your kids weren't too embarrassed while they tweeted about it on their cooler than mom's phone!! Hehehe... me love you long time!
ReplyDeleteLOL. The kids might make fun of my push button phone, but they totally think I'm a cool movie picker :)
DeleteI love old 80s movies! It totally takes me back! Cool Runnings was brilliant, of course, and all the others too. Especially Love Potion... Sandra Bullock is one of my all time favourites actresses :D
ReplyDeletex
They say she is as sweet as she seems in real life as on screen. Love Potion #9 is my favorite movie of hers.
DeleteI can totally see that about her. If my life was made into a movie (!), I'd so want her to play me :D
DeleteThese are all great choices Elizabeth. I've seen almost all of these and love them.
ReplyDeleteGone With The Wind made my list too!!
So much to love about Gone with the Wind. No other movie compares (okay, so Star Wars does, but that's an apples and oranges kind of comparison.)
Deletemike myers!! forgot about axe murderer =)
ReplyDeleteyou are such a rom com girl! great picks!
I am a sucker for a good laugh and a happy ending!!
DeleteYou did dig up some unknowns. So I Married an Axe Murderer was funny. Yeah, I'm a closet romantic movie fan.
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating in my blogfest!
My pleasure. :)
DeleteI think I saw Love Potion number 9, or the end of it. I always caught the end of the movies when the cave had cable. It was a good end. :)
ReplyDeleteMy husband is notorious about catching movies in the middle/ end. Drives me nuts!
DeleteCool Running! I haven't watched that movie in forever. Netflix!
ReplyDeleteNetflix is good for that!
DeleteI don't think I've seen any of these! Now you have me curious. Fun list. :)
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to check them out!
DeleteScrewed!
ReplyDeleteExcellent movie :)
DeleteGreat list! I used to have the biggest crush on Chris O'Donnell, so I love the Bachelor. Love Potion #9 is one of my all time faves. Doesn't Sandra look great with those bushy eyebrows? Ha! And Envy, I wish we could invent some Vapoorize, but without all the harmful effects. Until then, I guess people will just have to keep scooping. :P
ReplyDeleteVapoorize would be great. Nothing like carrying a bag of poo while out on a relaxing stroll!
DeleteI actually haven't seen any of those yet - I feel like such a loser right now :P Going to have to fix that soon!
ReplyDeleteNo! Not a loser. That's why I picked them...I wanted to find off the beaten path movies that are worth watching.
DeleteCool Runnings was a great film. I still enjoy John Candy movies.
ReplyDeleteUncle Buck is one of my favorites...love it. Love and miss him.
DeleteYou really like comedies. Is it bad that I have no Jamaican related movies in my top ten?
ReplyDeleteI love comedies! But I like all sorts of movies, so many I had to come up with a "theme" for my list...great movies you may never have heard of.
Deleteahhhh!!! Its A Guy Thing!! Islands in the stream that is what we are...lol my hubs and I love that movie. hilarious.
ReplyDeleteGreat list.
That was a great scene...off key singing in public has to say, "I love you" best.
DeleteI absolutely love 16 Candles and The Breakfast Club!! I haven't see all the movies you posted with trailers. What a cool idea.
ReplyDeleteThose two movies are in my top 10 of all time. I would take them with me if I was shipped off to the deserted island.
DeleteThe Breakfast Club is a classic. And I enjoyed Cool Running.
ReplyDeleteI agree 100%
DeleteLoved the start of your list, and then you made it even sweeter by sharing your gems. Some brought back memories, and others I need to check out. I loved Love Potion #9. ;-)
ReplyDeleteGreat list!
Thanks! I have so many favorites, I have to categorize them.
DeleteYou put a huge smile on my face with the clip from Cool Runnings. "I am feeling very Olympic today. How about you?" xD
ReplyDelete...totally going to watch that movie again this week.
Delete:D
Love that movie. It is so inspirational. I bought it for Christmas...for my husband. I know he appreciates getting my favorite movies as gifts. :)
DeleteOh, and I'm not feeling totally Olympic, so I am going to re-watch clip for inspiration!
DeleteYou would pick the funniest movies ever. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat picks, Elizabeth. Oh, and I love your new header! Another of Tara's beauties.
Tara is so very talented!! I just love it.
DeleteYeah, I love your new header!!! Super cute!
ReplyDeleteI was surprised I've only seen about half of those movies. I might have to have a movie night with the hubs :)
It is amazing!! I picked the movies because they weren't super popular. I know I am always looking for something good to watch and these are some oldies but goodies.
DeleteOh wow forgot all about So I Married an Axe Murderer! That's classic! Liek The Man with Two Brains! Love that one too. And of course anything with John Candy or Jack Black always makes me laugh.
ReplyDeleteI really miss John Candy. He was funny on screen and seemed like a sweetheart in life too.
DeleteI haven't seen any of these. Where have I been?
ReplyDeleteWell...considering how you meet deadlines and stay on task, I'd say you've been busy working!!
DeleteThe only two I've seen from this list are So I Married an Axe Murderer and Cool Runnings. Both are classics of my younger years. Definitely love Axe Murderer a lot :)
ReplyDeleteNow you'll have to watch the rest of them. :)
DeleteI LOVE Cool Runnings! And So I Married an Axe Murderer is one of my hubby's favorite movies. He always quotes it. Ha ha ha. :)
