We've got to stop meeting like this. You know, at the last minute on the first Wednesday of the month.
But at least I remembered this month before midnight. Last month, I remembered a week too late.
Things have been crazy busy here in the real-life world, but it should be calming down.
Do I say that every month? Well, one of these months I'll say it and then do it.

This month's IWSG question:
What was the most inspiring feedback you received from readers, including agents, editors, and beta readers?
A good beta reader is worth their weight in gold. When I first started writing, feedback could be difficult to take because the words we put on paper are often as precious to us as our children, and no one wants to hear that their child is anything other than perfect. But the longer you're in the writing game, good, honest, thoughtful feedback might mean more work, but it also means coming out on the other end with a better story.

So, keep writing and rewriting. It's what we do.

Thank you to this month's awesome co-hosts: Jenni EnzorJemima PettJamie of Uniquely Maladjusted but Fun, and Kim Lajevardi!

  3. Agreed, this has been a whoosh there it is month! Beta readers are really a treasure.

For some reason, I haven't been able to comment on any blogger site for a couple of days.

  4. Spending 9 months in the query trenches has given me a much thicker skin. It's exposure therapy for sensitive writers :-) I still wince a bit at some constructive feedback, but it stings a lot less than it used to.

I've quit saying, "When things settle down..." because they never settle down. My new version is, "When I retire..."
