Quick Catch-up
Violet's first Easter!
There was a patch of johnny jump ups in the yard, so we took her outside for a "photo shoot". The patch of flowers was near the road, so the grandmas did road patrol while mom and dad made her smile and grandad took the pictures. Just kidding.
Her grands move quicker than you'd think!
What other things have I been into, AKA what other writing distractions have there been? Well, I have been busy making my husband mad. He's running for sheriff of our county and he's been very conscientious of his budget. Which is noble, but not a smart political move.
I told him he needed more signs. Bigger signs.
Now, my husband will spare no expense when it's something I want. He's never batted an eye or raised a single concern about how much my book habit costs us, but ask him to spend a bit of money on himself and he's Mr. No-Can-Do. Money spent on him is a waste of money.
He's also a very stubborn man.
So, I quit asking.
I made myself "campaign manager" and under the legal advisement of my attorney-son, who assured me I did not need the candidate's permission to run ads, I took over the campaign advertising. I bought a billboard and said nothing. People texted him pictures of his face smiling down at them along the highway, he called in a huff and asked— what did you do?
I smiled and yelled, "Surprise!"
My dad warned him what I was like. He had his chance to run thirty-two years ago.
AWWWWWW! TOO CUTE!
ReplyDeleteAnd way to take control—behind every sheriff is a good woman running the show! Good luck to you, your town will be lucky to have you both =)
Thank you. Tara. :)
DeleteViolet is so lovely in her rabbit ears. She'd come to no harm eating the flowers - violets are edible, though they have a very delicate flavour.
ReplyDeleteI smiled broadly at your campaign management - well done, and good luck to your husband.
I wasn't sure if they were edible or not. Good to know for next year's photos!
DeleteI don't think I'd be crazy about my face on a billboard either. But you tried!
ReplyDeleteEvery humble man needs a woman ready to brag about him, I guess.
DeleteCute pictures.
ReplyDeleteI can completely understand where your husband is coming from regarding the budget. I'm the same - I can happily watch my husband spend money on things he needs, but I'm more likely to make do, despite him practically forcing me to buy stuff. On a weekend trip to London last year, he gave me some cash and told me to spend it wildly. I didn't. I spent it on soap from the Victoria and Albert museum, which was expensive but has somehow lasted a year!
I feel a bit spoiled compared to him. I buy whatever I want without too much thought. He drives an old car (it still has the kind of window you roll down with a handle!). Never impulse shops. Doesn't buy all the cool "boy" toys, like guns, trucks, or motorcycles. He used to worry about the kids having what they needed, but their all grown and gone. He can start spending a little on himself!
DeleteMy husband prefers to spend money on me, too.
ReplyDeleteViolet is cute. That was the name of my best friend in high school.
We're very blessed women!
DeleteI had a college professor names Violet.
Your husband sounds like a great guy. And little Violet is too adorable for words.
ReplyDeleteHe is a great guy. I wouldn't trade him for all the gold or chocolate in the world!
DeleteThat is too funny. I'm sure he really appreciates it even if he won't admit it.
ReplyDeleteOnce the shock wore off, I think he was happy too. I have a few more surprises planned...wish me luck :D
DeleteGood on you, Elizabeth. I love it and Violet is precious:)

She is quite precious.
DeleteLove the name Violet! She's a cutie. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I have to agree.
DeleteHaha but but the flower looks tasty. Cutie indeed.
ReplyDeleteWay to get his face out there more lol
And fortunately, not poisonous.
DeleteIsn't being a grandmother the best! <3
ReplyDeleteIt truly is!
DeleteWhen it comes to my wife being the boss over me, my wife fits that description well!
ReplyDeleteIf she's not happy, I'm certainly not!
Adorable, indeed!
We women do seem to set the mood in a home, that's for sure.
DeleteJust want to let you know, I created a different blog. Hope to see you there.
ReplyDeleteI will. Thank you for the head's up!
