#WeWriWa About Her, Snippet 3

About Her is the follow-up book to About Us, a free novel released last year. About Us is Hayden and Cam's story. In that story, Hayden leaves her abusive ex and calls on her husband's cousin, Cam, for help. Hayden's friend, Mark, warns her that Cam is and always has been in love with her and pulling him into her end-of-marriage disaster could end in heartache. Hayden doubts Mark's instincts. Cam couldn't be in love with her because Cam is involved with Shelley, his total knock-out of a girlfriend.

Hayden and Cam's happily ever after leaves Shelley alone and wandering the globe, so she needed her own story, so there is About Her.

After rescuing her from airport security, Mark suggests they grab dinner at his favorite steak house. Shelley agrees, but then starts to worry as she realizes New York prices could put her in a pickle.

So, here's a bit more from About Her, a work in progress and the sequel to About Us.

She wasn’t totally sure how much she had left on her credit card. Near zero on her debit card and less than a $100 cash in her purse. She had to pay a fine for breaking her contract early and the flight home cost more than she’d expected. If she wasn’t careful, she’d be begging her parents for money. Or prostituting herself. She bit her lip. How did one set up a call girl service? The classy kind, where she could charge a lot of money and only service really hot clients?

  1. Times are tough! :-) I'm thinking he'll pay for dinner. I mean, he invited her, right?? lol

  2. Oh my, her choices for a quick career aren't too realistic! But her desperation comes through...I'm assuming he'll be gallant, at least paying for dinner. Enjoyed the snippet!

    1. Shelley and reality haven't always been the best of friends. She has a lot to learn about that.

  3. Sounds like she's dreaming with her call girl service rules. Let's hope she doesn't have to find that out!

  4. Her thoughts about prostitution seem spot on, thinking it's sort of for the woman's benefit rather than the man's.

    1. Thank you, Michael. Getting the voice right is such a worry. I'm always afraid every character will sound the same.
