Nerd Lovin'

Cassie Mae is at it again! Bein' all writerly like and making us all look like slackers popping her books out like Mother Hubbard popped out kids.
And since she's so stinking busy, she isn't even touring for this book...she's letting us do all the work and calling it a hop. Fortunately for her, when Cassie asks me to hop, I saunter to it. (After four kids, this gal don't hop no more!)
For this hop-saunter, Cassie wants to know...
What's makes me nerdy?
Many years ago, my nieces found this video and squealed, "Uncle Chad! It's you!"
My poor former all-state football stud stood there in his Wolverine tee-shirt, the sunlight glinting off the silver rims of his glasses and said, "Me? I'm not a nerd."
He was like, "No! I'm ku-ool. Tell them."
As I looked around his ku-ool kingdom, I was surrounded by the posters he conscientiously separated by walls, neatly segregating Marvel from DC (I suppose to stop a comic wall feud or something). I pointed out the stacks and stacks of neatly wrapped comics, all diligently ordered by date and alphabet. I reminded him of his X-Men work sack...his Spiderman cereal bowl...his Superman underpants...his Wolverine watch (that he only wears when goin' somewhere fancy).
I broke it to him gently. "Sweetie, you're a nerd."
I broke it to him gently. "Sweetie, you're a nerd."
"But, but, I'm still ku-oool, right?"
I walked over and gave him a kiss. Our spectacles clicked together as my four eyes gazed into his four eyes and I reminded him, "You are a nerd, but there's nothin' quite as special as nerd lovin'."

I know more about super heroes than I do Glee; I watch more Discovery channel than HGTV; and understand much too well the differences between the Millenium Falcon and the Enterprise.
So, Cassie...the nerdiest thing about me? I am Mrs. Chad Seckman...nerd by marriage.
No matter how envious of her proclivity toward productivity, you've got to love this lady. She's got Pop Eye beat in her, "I yam what I yam" attitude. And her stories are as funny and as original as she is.

AWESOME!!! I married a nerd too, although he's a nerd of the account kind. I love that about him :D
ReplyDeleteYou really can't beat them. Nerds know who they are and don't worry about it. That's cool in my book!
ReplyDeleteI really hope I can find a nerd to marry someday! If not, he'll slowly become a nerd because I'm a nerd. :) It sounds like you married a great one!
ReplyDeleteMy magic eight ball says most certainly...your nerd is out there waiting on you!
DeleteAnd we are very grateful you know more about comics than Glee!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, you have to keep DC and Marvel separate. It's a law.
Well, Heaven forbid we break laws. Guess I better double check the action figure arrangements!
DeleteAww, what a cute post. I'm a nerd too and I'd be happy to marry a nerd LOL.
ReplyDeleteCute pic of your husband and son! :)
My husband would say any picture of him is a cute picture.
DeleteHope you find you a great nerd Julie!
I'm a nerd, so I loved this nerdy post. I hope to read Cassie's book.
ReplyDeleteNerds are a special breed.
DeleteI can't wait to read Cassie's latest book - sounds like so much fun! :D
ReplyDeleteYes it does and I love the cover!
DeleteNothing wrong with some nerdiness and, besides, you're both in great company :D
ReplyDeleteThat we are. We are raising a whole house full of nerds too.
DeleteLOL, "Nerd by marriage" is an excellent saying!
ReplyDeletesort of like guilty by association...lol
DeleteYou made me giggle... again, Elizabeth! Your nerdy husband sounds like a blast. I can't profess to have married a nerd though... I got the cool biker guy instead ;) (but I've always loved the nerds)
ReplyDeleteWe have to follow our hearts Suzy! Even when they want a guy who goes at high speed...eeps!
DeleteI feel asleep twenty minutes into watching the latest Star Trek movie "Into Darkness".... or whatever it's called.... and as I entered the darkness I wondered... am I a nerd?
ReplyDeleteYou might lose your nerd card sleeping through epic nerd movies Mark. I once fell asleep during LOTR (after watching it fifteen times!) and my hubs was so offended you'd have thought I fell asleep on a date!
DeleteWell know that nerd marriages sound awesome. I'm anti-HGTV, find it boring. Your hubs sounds great, we would definitely have things in common.
ReplyDeleteI am a House Hunters junkie. Especially HH International. It's a sickness, I swear!
DeleteAren't we all nerds to some degree? Back in the day, I would have hated it, but today, I embrace my nerdiness. And I embrace all my nerdy friends.
ReplyDeleteNot on this bloghop...just came over to say hey.

Always happy when you stop by Michael! And yes, we are all a little nerdy...though I tell people I am "cerebral". That's the snooty way of admitting you are, most definitely, a nerd.
DeleteI just watched the latest Star Trek movie. I am such a Trekie!
ReplyDeleteI still have that on my to-watch list. Every time I go to rent it I can't. I know college age son would love to see it and I can't watch it until he does!
DeletePersonally I believe that nerd is synonymous with cool, so yes, he is still ku-ool. :)
ReplyDeleteI like how your thesaurus works!
DeleteThis post was so cute! Nerd Lovin. ;) Like Emily, I just watched the latest Star Trek movie and LOVED IT!
ReplyDeleteI also did the Nerd Blog Hop, and if you dropped by to see what the nerdiest thing about me is that would be super ku-ool! :P
Guess my sweetie is a nerd by marriage as well... lol LOVE IT!!
ReplyDeleteMy hubby has Batman Converse boots, a Batman t-shirt and a Batman bandana... Luckily he realises the folly in wearing them all together. I'm actually resisting the nerd by association :-)
ReplyDeleteWhen I posted on FB, What's the nerdiest thing about you? my husband commented with "my wife." Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteHa! Great post! My husband is way less nerdy than me. :)
