Blog Fest!!!
I’m blog hopping today.
That might sound strenuous, but truly, it’s more like a party with make
believe people and the writers who brought them to life. So for this party, I
put on my best pajamas and invited one of my favorite characters, Isabella
Francine Troy Stanley, to come with me and put herself in the spotlight and
answer a few of the nice blogger’s oh so personal questions for Cassie Mae and Angie’s “I’m Hearing Voices” blog party. Let's head over to Characters on the Couch for the week long blogfest!
Come on Belle, your bonnet looks fine, we’re late and gotta
go! Yes, it matches your shoes…good grief…why did I invite a debutante?
1.
Bella, what is your biggest vulnerability? And
do others know or is it a secret? Oh my! My what? Secret? What would make you ask that? I swear,
but certainly not to God…my husband just ran away. Oh goodness, I thought you
said this would be fun.
It is Bella. Have a sip of tea and relax.
They're just questions to get to know you better.
Hmmm…I declare…feels more like an
interrogation.
Okay, calm down...let's move on to the next question...
2.
What do people believe about you that is false?
Hmmph…that’s easy. Everyone thinks I’m just a silly girl who ignores her
studies and thinks of nothing but balls and gowns, but that is simply not true.
And honestly, it’s just a little offensive.
3.
What would your friends say is your fatal flaw?
Fatal? Why, what?
Okay, not fatal, Bella, what would Tessie,
she’s your mammy, right? What would she say is your biggest flaw?
Oh, why that’s
easy…she tells me so all the time…I never use my head. I make all my decisions
with my heart. And that may sound fluffy headed, but truly, the decisions I
made that were sensible? They were
nearly the death of me.
4.
What would Tessie say is your redeeming quality?
Hmm…She mostly tells me to mind my manners and my tongue, but I think if
pressed, Tessie would say I am….loyal. Yes, that’s it. She would without a
doubt say I am loyal. And that’s because I would gladly die to help those I
love.
5.
What do you want most? Can everyone read this?
Even Jack?
No. Jack’s is still back in 1868. They don’t
have any internet. He'll never know. And my lips are sealed.
Oh, then. Jack. I want Jack. And I’ve
already bribed Yankees for him, so to keep him…I will do whatever it takes. I
know he had a fiancée before he went to prison, but she’s not good enough for
him. She isn’t loyal enough. I’m doing Jack a favor making him love me. Even if Tessie says I don't have the sense God gave a mule, I know...Jack was meant for me. I've known it since I was thirteen and he came to work in Daddy's stables.
Speaking of Jack...are we about done? I hate to be gone too long.
Why yes, we are done. Thanks for coming Bella. See you later for some more edits.
Why of course. Any chance you might write me in a new bonnet? A pink one that would offset the hollows in my cheeks after the winter? I mean I understand that I have to be poor now, but couldn't you at east give me a few pretty things to wear?
I'll think about it Bella. Have a safe virtual trip back.
Wow, Bella is a little highly strung lol! I love how she is so twitchy about words like "fatal," and thinking the questions are an interrogation. She definitely has her own, unique voice. Great stuff!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kyra. And yes, certain words make her very antsy ;)
ReplyDeleteWow, she is high strung. Great voice though. A fascinating interview, Roland
ReplyDeleteI guess Bella is more than a little nervous, but you would be too...her neck is on the line...literally!
ReplyDeleteYou had me laughing from the first line! This was so so so so awesome! I think I want to hang out with this girl and hear all about this hunk of Jack :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Elizabeth! I'm a new follower.
ReplyDeleteBella sounds a lot like my sister. She feels first then thinks. : )
Elizabeth--I LOVED the voice of Bella. This was a great interview. I gotta love a girl who will pay for a guy.
ReplyDeleteOh, this is fun! I must do this blog fest. Bella's very intriguing! I was imagining her being interrogated in a modern coffee shop, with her all dressed up in her own timeline's clothing!
ReplyDeleteOkay, this is my favorite so far. You don't "tell" us who she is. -you show us, and that is how you write a voice! Great job!!!not that my opinion counts, lol. But I love the voice and hopw we get such a strong sense of who she is-without you "telling" us!!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness... this is fabulous! I absolutely LOVE her. What a fun character and the voice just adds so much more. Such a fun choice to have take the couch.
ReplyDeleteAnd your blog is darling! Glad I was able to find you through this hop!
Love Bella. What a fun character.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! All these wonderful comments felt great today. Added another rejection to my pile and this helped soooo much more than chocolate. :)
ReplyDeleteBella has such a strong voice, it makes her so believeable as a character. I'm interested to hear more about her fight for Jack!
ReplyDeleteHey :)
ReplyDeleteI'm officially in love with Bella. You better write her a new bonnet :) lol.
I'm glad I tracked you down via the bloghop. I'm a new follower and congrats on having such an awesome character :)
You kept me laughing through the whole thing. Oh, Bella, such a dainty lady.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful character! It's my first time here, but I'll definitely stay.
ReplyDeleteGolly guys, I'm blushing. Can you tell? It's good to find so many new brilliant friends. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
I loved this, what a great voice. I think my favorite part was that she got to the end of the interview and just kept needling for the things she wants (pink hat, that's awesome!).
ReplyDeletelol, I really love her tone and her voice. I picture Gone with the Wind meets Pride and Prejudice.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun interview! Belle sounds so nervous and 'girly' and I agree, you have a great way of showing her character through her voice.
ReplyDeleteI wanted you to know you are in my top 10 for this challenge :)
ReplyDelete@ Ashley~ I might be stealing that line for queries
ReplyDelete@Angela~ Thanks, I'm flattered. There were so many of these that were just awesome, really, truly awesome. No wonder it's so hard to get published!
Thanks Rena and Hywela. Glad she entertained you for a time. :)
Congratulations on your win! She has such a fresh voice.
ReplyDeleteWow Lisa! I tell you, I read a lot of the entries and they were all good, so I am patting myself pretty hard right now. Thanks to Angie for recognizing my genius...she must be the cleverest blogger ever!
ReplyDeleteBRILLIANT FROM START TO FINISH! You are an amazing writer!
ReplyDeleteI bow to your feet once again!
