Marching On

To be totally honest, one of the reasons I procrastinate posting is because I can never think of a topic to write about. Which is crazy because, years ago, when no one was reading my blog, I always had things to post about. It wasn't until I read somewhere that blog posts counted as marketing that my brain froze up.

(What does it say about me? That I honestly don’t like to work at writing? I'm guessing yeah.)

So, I decided I’m no longer writing a blog post. From now on. I’m just going to check in.

My brain is okay with that.

Last week was Boy #3's graduation from boot campo at Ft. Benning.

Just like it says on the my-son-is my-hero Army tee shirts...
We used to carry my soldier; now he carries us.
In his dad's case, the meaning was literal.

And then this weekend...there was this!

Boy #2 was at the Oscars and was within screaming distance of the Oscar slap. During the event, he was seated under the yellow arrow. Thank goodness that was there, so we could find him easily! Enjoy the excellent quality of the photo I took of my television.

Prior to the event, at the pre-awards, untelevised event, he was seated behind the power-swing couple.

You can see the photo of him in this news article. I can't afford the $499 fee to post it, so if you want to see it, you'll have to follow this link. Boy #2 is the red head over Will Smith's shoulder. Getty has a much clearer photo of my son that I cannot afford to own.

*FAQ: how did he get a ticket to the Oscars? He's a student of UCLA's film producers program and he knows people who knows people? That's my way of saying...not overly sure how he got it. I don't know if he applied or if there was a lottery. He just called one day and said, "Mom, I get to go to the Oscars!"

Book update!
Feedback on About Her is pretty positive, so it looks like I may be in the homestretch and looking forward to a publishing date soon! It's been so long, I'm a bit rusty.

    1. Almost. The husband is still a work in progress in the raising department!

  2. Wow, he was close for the early awards. Imagine if he'd had that seat when the slap happened.

  4. I think it would be fun to go to the Oscars, although the slapping incident was very strange.

    1. It was seriously bizarre. I think Will is under some major marital stress, though that doesn't excuse not keeping your hands to yourself.

  5. I hardly ever blog any more either. Must find a way to change that.
Of course, I'ma follow the link to the hella-expensive photo.

    1. The crazy thing is, I always enjoyed blogging the most! It feels more personal and keeps me in the writer frame of mind.

  6. I know what you mean about blogging. It blows my mind that I used to blog three days a week, and now I'm down to once a month. I still enjoy it, though so I'll hang in for a bit longer. :)

    1. I know! I always had more ideas than time to share them. But then, I would come up with ideas when I'd read other blogs and I don't do that as much. Maybe that's the problem.

  7. Well I just went and checked out the handsome redhead behind the Smiths. I'd say you've got serious news to blog about, Liz:)
And again congrats on son #3.
You did a great job, Mom:)

  8. Whenever I get really overwhelmed, I drop back to just the IWSG post. The IWSG has kept me in the blogging game!

  9. I love that photo of your son carrying your husband, Elizabeth! It's absolutely brilliant. Your son certainly is a looker too!!
And OMG that your other son was sitting right behind the power couple, and that he was at the Oscars in the first place. It must've been amazing. Such a shame that Will Smith had a moment of madness though.
    Big hugs
    Suzy xx

    1. He definitely got some great seat placement, that's for sure.

I told Carter he should have been a soldier for posters, not in real life. He didn't agree with his mom.

  11. He looks so handsome and introspective and famous in the pricey photo. I guess $499 is the price of fame? Sigh. Unaffordable.
You and yours are a truly amazing bunch.
    Love ya.

    1. That was just the cost of the photo! I cannot wrap my brain around the price tags that float around Hollywood. Even if I could afford to live like that, I don't think I could. But who knows, they say money changes people.

It's my boys...they're amazing. I'm just like...wow, they do so well despite all the parental mess ups they've survived. LOL

  12. Congrats to your son for graduating boot camp and to your other son for scoring Oscars tickets! Both of those events are super cool!

I have the opposite problem with blogging: I'd rather do it than write or market or any of that other serious stuff. Blogging gives me a chance to let my inner goofball out to play.
