April 2020 Update
It's been a while since I did an end-of-the-month wrap-up/check-in. In January, I resolved to better pre-plan my posts and have things done ahead of time. Well...
I'd like to say that lasted a while, but the truth is: it never happened. I'm still writing stuff the day I need to post it and spend far too much time staring at the blank screen trying to decide what to write.
That's why I enjoy a no-brainer check in.
So, how goes it fro the Seckman crew, you wonder...
We're still staying-at-home. All but my husband. He's essential. A fact he never lets me forget.
We've fared well. There have only been 3 cases of corona virus in my town and no deaths. My state has also been spared. Most of our hospitals have been furloughing rather than running at full capacity, which is good. It was predicted we could be in a nightmare scenario given the age and health of our population.
More good news! During the month of April, we've had two boys have their birthdays.
Boy #1 turned 26. Boy #4 turned 20. Amazing thing...they're getting older, yet I am holding at 45. Must be some sort of anomaly due to the longitude and latitude of of the pine trees that shade my yard. At least I'm pretty sure that's good science.
Boy #3 will be graduating from WVU in a week or so without any ceremony. He wasn't planning on doing it anyway, so no tears shed over missing that. I do feel bad that his last semester of drunken debauchery was spent at home playing Smite with his brothers. I told him, on the upside, if the rapture happens during the Corona chaos, he'll have a better chance of getting into heaven from home.
Also during the quarantine, boy #2 got some very good news! He was accepted into not one, but two film schools. He's been working on building his resume for years and it has finally started to pay off. He was offered spots at both AFI and UCLA's Master Producer's Programs. It was a tough choice, but UCLA finally won out because they offered to help him pick up some of the tab. Show a Seckman the money and that's the direction they go.
I'm super proud of this guy. I'll probably be doing more bragging next week for my IWSG post, because this guy has learned to manage insecurity and chase his dreams.

Way to go, Cole!
Waiting to catch a flight for an interview and he's already being hounded by the Paparazzi |
Glad the boys and your family are doing well despite this mess!
ReplyDeleteWe're definitely blessed!
DeleteI'm thriving in quarantine! If I was furloughed, I'd be in a writer's hog heaven (until the bills came due. LOL). Congrats, Cole!
ReplyDeleteI will admit I've been busier in quarantine. I forgot how busy a full house can keep me.
DeleteCongrats to #2! NICE. It's good to hear the good stuff is coming through.
ReplyDelete--and yes, that is good science.
Thank you. I was pretty sure I was onto something with the science.
DeleteBirthdays, graduation, college acceptance - quite the month!
ReplyDeleteThat graphic about quarantine being your daily lifestyle is ME. LOL
It was a big month. Now, fingers crossed this isn't the beginning of the apocalypse or we've paid for a lot of college for nothing. LOL
DeleteSounds like it's been a busy month. Happy Birthdays and congrats on the grad and the film school acceptance! I hope those film school dreams come true. Glad things have been going well in terms of the virus staying away. Hope May goes just as well. Ha, ha, I like your science of aging. I think I'll apply that to myself also.
ReplyDeleteI'm praying hard for a break over the summer because I think it will be right back in the fall. Maybe use the summer to regroup and restock.
DeleteSounds like a good month for you in spite of all the chaos. Congrats to the boys!
ReplyDeleteThis was a bit bizarre. I've never experienced anything like it.
DeleteI'm glad to hear you're smart enough to be cautious, even though the virus hasn't been a huge problem in your area. It's been pretty darned bad here in GA, and now that our guv has officially opened the state back up again (even though the number of cases and deaths continue to rise) it's likely that things could get worse here. But Smarticus and I are taking good care of each other, and we're content to ride it out together in the safety of our home. But life goes on... and lots of things have been happening in the Seckman family. You've got a lot of things to be proud about, lady. I believe you're onto something with the scientific fact about the aging of parents versus the aging of their children. My sons are now older than I am... :) Take care, sweet lady.
ReplyDeleteBlessings all around.
ReplyDeleteMany congrats to Cole! I know you are one proud momma! Holding at 45? Oh come now. I know you must have been a child bride since you look all of 21.
ReplyDeleteSO relieved to hear the virus is snubbing your area.
YOU take special care.
The above article is nice and interesting, thank you willing to share! Greetings success of admin Cetak Buku Umroh Haji wish you deign to visit my website, thank you :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great month for the boys, aside from the crummy virus going about. Good your area didn't get hit with it too.
ReplyDeleteWoot! Woot! A long-time-ago friend graduated from the UCLA Film Dept. She went on to work on movies with Walter Mathau and other VIPs. It's a great program.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you and your son.
Love and cheer, my friend.
Quite a month. I'm glad you've had a good time despite the isolation and lockdown. Happy birthday to your boys.
