Laugh Break

I have this plan to make a list of blog post ideas and never again have to sit and stare at my laptop the night before a posting day and not have a single clue what to write.
That's the goal, but it's an elusive one.
I had another post written, but then I was adding tags and realized I'd already posted the exact same thing in 2011. I was stunned to realize I have been blogging so long, I've forgotten what I've already shared. So, here is blog attempt #2. Some funnies. The central theme being, I am officially old enough to be repeating myself.

The only thing missing on this guy are the horns. Modified 80's magazine models needed horns on their heads also. True story...my brother had contraband nudie magazines hidden under his bed. He made me mad for whatever reason, so in the spirit of little sister bratitude and vengeance, I pasted clothes on all the naked women and "filtered" their faces. Then I put them back under his bed. He never said a word, but then how could he? Then he'd have to admit to Mom they existed.

This one reminds me of my husband. He was born a worker. I always tell him I know he kept me because I'd try to help him get all of his jobs done so we could go out.

Speaking of math, I have also NEVER, EVER used algebra or geometry again. Never. Not even when I ordered carpet. There's an app for that. On the same device that is my calculator.

Back when music made sense. And my dad lamented for a return of 1950's doo-wop because 80s music was, in his opinion, pretty awful. All but Adam Ant.

  1. LOL - that last one.

I've never used geometry although that has been a couple times I wished I remembered algebra. Oh well.

    1. There was a time when my son needed help with his algebra homework and I kinda wished I could help, but I just paid his big brother to do it.

  2. Ha! I've been blogging since 2010, though I switched addresses and blogging platforms since then. Actually, it's coming up on 9 years on the 26th (it was Black Friday).

Love the memes and funnies. You always make me smile with your posts.

    1. I think I started in 2011. That first week, I got about 7 views and wondered if anyone would ever notice me out there in the big wide web.

I'm glad I can give you a smile. The world needs more smiles.

  3. Aw, the 80s. I used to love dancing at a club in San Francisco that plays 70s and 80s music. The best music came out in the 80s, and there were many Stops. The world aint right without you, babe...Love ya, girlie.

    1. Years ago, my niece told me I was sooo lucky to get to live in the real 80s. At first it made me feel extremely old, but then I realized she was right. The 80s was a special time to be a teen. Love ya too, lady!

    2. OMG. The 80's (apostrophe or not be damned) were so awesome. And the GREATEST thing is we did ALLLLLLL the idiotic things that teens do today, but there's no proof, only beer-spitting-out-of-mouth laughter-memories when you meet up with your old friends again :)

    3. Proof that is deniable and in the fading memories of your friends is the best gift.

  4. Can't say I've ever used algebra or geometry again either haha who needs that stuff?

The cat went from 400+ posts ahead to none. So much better that way.

  5. You know, when I went to post to pinterest it said the link was broken. But they look fine on my screen. I'll try deleting them and adding them again. Thanks for letting me know!

  6. Was this really your second-ever post or did I browse my way past? Probably. I would have totally read your hand-written, mailed via the post office, letter to me, which I would have then responded in like the same way.

    I miss mails.

Ok. That sounded bad. It's an 80's joke, people. I swear. Would love to stay and play, but the streetlights just came on and me Ma will bate the shuite out of me, so I have to cycle home for me dinner now.

    1. I used to have a pen pal in England when I was in high school. I recall asking if there were tea bags in England. He probably thought I was a goof.

My curfew was also the street lights.

  7. I weren't no teenager in the 80s (no apostrophe Mark), but we were settling in to North American having arrived in Canada in '75. Although in the late 80s we moved to NC for a few years. My teenage years were in the 50s. Yes, I do have a cane LOL. As for blogging I started in 2008. Afraid most of your funnies don't mean a lot to me Liz, but I love you too.

    1. The only time cooler than the 8os would be the 50s and the fashion was way better. There's no shame in a cane. Consider it a well-earned accessory. Love you, too.

(notice I followed the apostrophe rule, lol. Mark is always the rebel. The evil twinny.)

  8. This post totally gave me a smile. I miss the 80s. Sigh.

And I love the story about you pasting clothes on the naked magazine models! Too funny!

  9. Those were funny. Ah, the 80's those were my good ole days too.

  10. I'm with Jo. I grew up in the '50s and '60s, so my nostalgic feelings about the best times and best music aren't about the '80s. Our kids, on the other hand, would agree with you all the way. :)

    Have a super weekend, kiddo.

  14. I took a long break from blogging. It was great to focus on life and to help with writer's block. When I came back, I had all of these fresh new ideas. There's no shame on taking a mental health day, or in your case, a writer's block day. :)

  15. OMG. Too funny. My son had a magazine with a questionable cover when he was in high school. I cut out clothes and stuck on the model. He failed to see the humor in it. Now his wife is threatening to do the same with the swim wear model on his sports magazine:)
