Stop by, we'll have a few laughs...

I'm out of town this week. I went with Boy #1 to Buffalo, NY so he could take his bar examination. He's taking the multi-state bar while he's at it, so he has another day of testing tomorrow. I was going to roam around the city and take some photos for the blog, but since I hate to drive in city traffic, I parked in the first available lot and planned to walk around the city. Sadly, my phone takes awful pictures, so in less than an hour, I'd parked myself in a bar to wait until Boy #1 was done for the day.

During the downtime, I went through my husband's messages and collected the best of Chad's funnies for the week. My husband knows I enjoy a good laugh, so he keeps me supplied with humor throughout the day. He's sweet like that.

Changing the scene, changes the perspective.

What kind of story will you create?

We all need to be positive.

It's also good to stand up for each other.

Punny good stuff.

It's a hillbilly thing.

We all need a little awwww in our lives.

And some summer fun.

Now, for the writerly portion of the post!

I'm posting on the IWSG site about rejection. If you'd like to stop and say hello, click HERE.

My goal for the summer was to read more. I've not been doing so well on that front. I did finish Old Man and the Sea by Hemingway. I think that only brings me up to five books over the summer. That's pretty sad.

On the upside, I have been meeting my word count goals and should be finishing Second Chances soon. I've been posting chapters to Wattpad as I write them, but as I approach the end of the story, it's easier to keep writing to the end than it is to start and stop.

If you'd like to check it out, there are 32 chapters now available on Wattpad. Read it HERE.

    1. Feel free. I wish I knew who makes these things up, so I could give credit.

  3. Hehehehe, love the funnies!

Man, I've fallen behind on my reading of stuff on Wattpad. I look forward to when you finish the story and I hope you'll let me beta for you, even though I haven't been able to keep up with your posting schedule.

    1. To be honest, I haven't been able to keep up with the posting schedule either and it's my schedule. I'd be more than happy to have you give it a read. I still have the notes for the first few chapters. I'm hoping to apply all the changes before turning it into an eBook.

  4. I enjoyed the funnies. Little Johnny kills me every time. LOL.
I admire those that can write a book. I would love to write a but but have no clue where to start or what to write about. If I wrote about my life, It would be funny, stupid, scary, and maybe some miracles along the way. Haha.

    1. Little Johnny is quite the character!

The best writing advice for getting yourself started is to imagine what if...then keep adding more what ifs together and pretty soon you have a story.

  6. Wow! I loved those funnies - especially the one about prison and the one about Ikea.
BTW - when I was a kid, I thought someone taking a "bar" exam was a bartender. I didn't realize that bar exams were for lawyers until I was in high school - I didn't know any lawyers.

    1. While waiting in the bar, the bartender mentioned that pretty soon the place would be filled with hopeful attorneys drowning their worries from the bar exam. There was a patron there who also said he had no clue lawyers had to pass an exam, and he was far older than a high schooler. I was a bit dumfounded.

  7. The very best of luck to your son. He is a clever youngster he should do well. I love the Ikea one and - I can't pick another, they are all good. Chad can send me funnies any time LOL.

Question on Wattpad. Since your story is on Wattpad, when it's finished, will you market it or will it be free?

    1. My plan is to turn it into an ebook and put it out for free hoping to take advantage of free advertising offered for giveaway books. I still plan to market it a bit. I was planning to bug you for that shout it for it instead of Hoosier Dad. :)

  9. I hope your son did well with the bar exam. You're a cool mom to accompany him to NY, especially if driving in traffic kinda freaks you out. (You aren't alone!)

All of those funnies are... funny! And your commentary on them makes them even funnier.

    1. I hope he did too. He's so nervous. I mean, only his entire future hangs in the balance. No pressure there.

Mom is good moral support. Or at least I'm good at reminding him to stop chewing on his nails.

  10. That's the best awww I've had in a while. Thank you, Elizabeth.
What a good mom you are. Sending lots of "You got this" vibes. You are his mom, afterall. He's got this!

    Cheers.

With empathy like that Little Johnny sounds like he is on track to being a lovely adult.
And I didn't join the awww chorus.

    2. Is that what the problem is with the fingers? I have that same problem. My mouth is often afflicted too.

  12. Best to your son on his exams. I took the bar exam in the Stone Age. A two-day angst-filled affair, and we wrote our exams in a paper "blue book" with an ink pen, then waited several weeks to receive our results by snail mail. A lot has changed, but I don't think the electronic age has eliminated the angst part.

Love the funnies -espcially the Ikea books and the kitty and duckling.

    1. It still takes a while to get the results back because there is still a written portion, I suppose. I thought it was two days for the national, but I was wrong. I was making those crazy assumptions based on my 4 hour social work exam. I suppose I will never complain about that one again.

  14. Chad's a good man - with a great sense of humor!

Best wishes with #1 Son... bloody hell, he doesn't make it easy on himself, so fair balls to him!!

PS: re your comment, I *never* thought of it that way, but a "pack of puppies" is *EXACTLY* what they are, so thanks for that one:)
