Jousting
A simple thank you is never enough, but on this day we pause and recognize the brave who serve. We often take our freedom and security for granted, because the best among us shield us from the harsh realities of a difficult world.
Thank you.
Now. I'm late. so late for a very important date.
Lady Elizabeth is arriving to the party sans glass slippers and dragging her stinky pumpkin. (Do Cinderella metaphors work in Medieval jousts? Probably not, but well, let's just roll with it.)
I've spent this week chasing down gas card raffle tickets, making signs, and selling tees shirts. I've had my mind so focused on getting things ready for the next few weeks, I totally forgot I was part of Mary's joust. I've been competing since Monday and I wasn't even at the party!!
For shame. Bad Elizabeth. If this was a real joust, I'd have been knocked off my horse and trampled.
Soooo, I have some catching up to do. So, I'm listing the rules below and I'm hoping you take pity on me and help me out. There's $1000.00 in gas in it for you....
1. My magic words are Lady Elizabeth, Defying Reason, and poppet (means child). I get points if you comment using these words in a phrase.
2. I will score points all five days. You may cheer 3x a day. Each time you cheer (for me, preferably),you'll be added to the daily drawing for prizes.
3. I am allowed to bribe. So, since I am late from trying to sell and track down gas tickets...every comment with my catch phrase will be entered for a chance to win your own chance at the $1000.00 Exxon gas card! International commenters will win a $5.00 Amazon card.YOU MUST GO NOW to Mary's Blog Here today through Friday Nov 13th. Comments are cut at 10 p.m. US Eastern Time and daily winners will be drawn at that time.
Thanks to our hosts Lexa, L.G, and Tonja Drecker for this weekly good things check in! I'm posting this early, since I won't be posting Friday.
1. I had so many sweet comments at Mary's blog. It makes me miss my online time. Real life is ruining my virtual fun.
2. The first round of play offs is this weekend! 1. I had so many sweet comments at Mary's blog. It makes me miss my online time. Real life is ruining my virtual fun.
3. Beta reader feedback on the changes in Swept Away is positive.
4. Mary's joust is still going on! I'll count up the comments and choose a gas card raffle ticket winner tomorrow night. The $1000.00 gas card drawing will be Saturday night...fingers crossed!!
I cheered for you this morning, Lady Elizabeth! I bet you are rolling in cheers by now. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie! I was happily, to the point of warm fuzzies and tears, surprised by all the cheers.
DeleteHugs to you all!!
I cheered for you this morning as well. We won't let the horses trample you.
ReplyDeleteI'd be lost without my friends. I am one very blessed gal!
DeleteBit of a difference between $1,000 and $5 isn't there? Are you sure you mean that much?
ReplyDeleteI'm really an expert at causing confusion...it's $5.00 to enter the contest to win the $1000.00 gas card.
DeleteI'm off to cheer! (Just as soon as I get done with comment verification. Ugh.)
ReplyDeleteThanks!! And down with comment verification!!
DeleteI'll definitely cheer for you, Elizabeth!
ReplyDeleteYou most certainly did!! You sweet, sweet lady!! I pulled your name out of the hate for the gas card attempt, but you didn't win. I'd have rigged it for you, but well, that would be wrong.
DeleteI did cheer for you but missed the last one - closes to early. LOL Good luck!
ReplyDeleteWho cares if it counted?! You tried. I saw the comments and they made me happy. That beats winning any old day.
DeleteI'm off to cheer for you!!!! :D
ReplyDeleteOkay, I think I was too late :-/
DeleteNo matter. You still were there. Sometimes it's the people who show up late to the party and help you clean up that really matters.
DeleteOh gosh, I hope I'm not too late to cheer for you, but that's normal for me. I'm late for everything cool, but never miss a dentist appointment.
ReplyDeleteI'm late to everything too. It truly is the thoughts that count. Hugs to you all!!!
DeleteSadly, I got here late. :(
ReplyDeleteBut it's nice to hear you're getting good feedback.
No matter. You're here. I'm late to everything too, especially lately.
DeleteCinderella works in any story, I think! Just throw her in there. Hope you had a great Veterans Day.
ReplyDeleteShe does have a good story :)
DeleteLady Elizabeth was late. Woman on the Verge is later. Cinderella? Don't get me started on that hussy. She trudges in doing a walk of shame, minutes after the midnight hour, all raggedy and missing a shoe. And what next? She gets her Prince Charming! What a b*tch!
ReplyDeleteLove ya, girlfriend, and I love the sentiment: "Courage is contagious."
Cinderalla and the Walk of Shame...now that's a book I want to read!!
DeleteThanks for always making me laugh, pretty lady!
lol the cat is late, blogger didn't show this post at my gate. Don't get trampled by horses though, or step where they go. lol
ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased to meet you, Elizabeth—especially after you mentioned reading Black Beauty as a child (on my guest post at Julie Flanders' blog yesterday). And you said it so well: "if you don't like animals, there's something wrong with your heart and I can't trust you." That's exactly right. So. I thought I'd come over and visit my soul mate... and I fell in love with your blog :)
