I Is Easy Too

Intrinsic Motivation
Growing up, my family had a huge Maple tree in the back yard. My brother and I would rake leaves all day and jump in them. No one would ever have to tell us gather up all the thousands of leaves into a pile. We just did it. It was fun. But then, as soon as my mom brought lawn bags out and told us to rake the leaves, it was suddenly no fun. It's always more satisfying to do it for the love.

Italian Sausage

Take Italian sausage (turkey sausage if you're counting calories) and cover in salsa or picante sauce (yes, I'm blending my ethnic foods in my melting crock pot) and slow cook in the crock pot. Then you can put them on a hoagie bun with mozzarella, or eat it over rice or pasta, or wrapped in a tortilla.

1. First round of edits and beta feedback are in and, so far seem manageable.

2. The weather is warming. I painted my toes, and I am ready to shed my shoes!

3. Signed up for two more book events. And I've survived the A-Z, so far.

  3. Ahh ... raking leaves in the fall and jumping in the piles. So fun. Unless you own a dog.

  4. The scent of leaves in the autumn; happy childhood memories!

  5. Yep, doing it for fun is waaaay better. Then it becomes work and stinks

  6. Fun makes everything better. I made a bunch of 9 year olds giggle before a test yesterday and I hoped that it made the test just a little bit better.
Hooray for shedding shoes. Barefoot is always better. :)

  9. Yay for the book events! I hope both go well.
I have always hated sausage but this recipe makes me want to reconsider that.

  10. Everything is more fun when you just do it for the love of it, but the moment it becomes a chore or job, it's no longer fun.

Congrats on your two book events! And good luck with edits. :)

  11. I understand the separation between work and fun.

  12. Making a game of what call work! Perfectly simple and simply perfect.
Sounds like your month is going to be very busy.

  13. I've never been a sausage person, but my dad and husband love sausage!

  14. Sounds like you had fun with your leaves. I'm afraid your recipe doesn't appeal to me one bit.

  15. I never thought to put sausage in the crock pot. I might have to try recipe out - it seems simple enough for me to even manage it. LOL

  16. Keep surviving!
And go ahead and mix your foods. They get mixed in the end anyway.

  17. "edits and beta feedback are in" That would make me happy!

I also love jumping in leaves. I love the Italian but would end up with a spaghetti sauce instead!

  20. mom's did know how to ruin the fun...oh well. Mine would not have experimented with sausage either - not keen on "spicy" food. Have a great weekend

  21. Glad to hear your edits are manageable. Of course they are, but I'm sure it's a relief to know for sure. :)

See, I would always set the rakes out in the yard for the kids and just be happy they formed a few piles I didn't have to rake myself. I was fortunate enough as a kid to only have pine trees in my yard so though we didn't get to jump in leaf piles, we also didn't have to rake.

  22. I'm so with you on the intrinsic motivation front! I'll do almost anything if it's my choice (or I can be manipulated into thinking it's my choice lol) but as soon as you tell me I HAVE to... yeah, not happening.

  23. I like that sausage tip - just proves everything's better with salsa. Ole!

  24. I agree. Sometimes it's that "have to" thing that gets in my way of enjoying my writing. But I get over it, every time it hits me in the face! I copied that recipe. My hubby will love it!
