Road to Somewhere
New! From Bloomsbury Spark, a sunny heartwarming story of discovery and sisterhood.A road trip. A singing competition. And super-hot cowboys. What could be better? For Charlie, a post-high school road trip isn't just a vacation, it's life changing. While her parents think she's helping a friend move, a chance at fame is the real reason to grab her best friends and drive to L.A. But when her super annoying, uber-responsible, younger sister, Lucy, has to tag along, it isn't quite the summer of fun she imagined.Add in a detour to her grandparents' ranch in Texas, and between mucking the stalls, down-home cookin’, and drool worthy ranch hands, this could just turn into the best, and most complicated, summer of their lives.
I know all about siblings!
Me?
I am the annoying, tattle-telling youngest.
I have suffered plenty of noogies and wedgies in my life.
But I wouldn't trade my siblings for nuthin'!
It's the Hartman's!
My sister, Lisa; brother, Dennis; sister, Cathy.
There were five of us.
But in 2006, we lost one of our brothers to cancer.
As my big brother,
he was always teaching me something.
With his passing, I understand...
life is short
and no matter how goofy...
I love these guys.
They are the best friends blood can buy.
Always with us in spirit...
gone, but never forgotten-
our brother Ken "Grub".
He truly was the best of us.
Your family looks like a lot of fun! <3
ReplyDeleteThey are. Too much fun sometimes!
DeleteSo sorry to hear your brother passed. I loved this line you wrote "They are the best friends blood can buy." So true. I don't have any sisters or brothers, but I have two children and I see how wonderful it can be to have siblings through them. Hugs to you, and congrats to Kelley and Jenny, Road to Somewhere sounds like a great read. (:
ReplyDeleteThanks Elise. Watching my kids get along (for the most part!) is the best part of watching them grow up.
DeleteI'm sorry you lost your brother.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Kelley and Jenny.
Much appreciated Alex.
DeleteSorry to hear you lost your brother. Your family looks amazing. I bet you're a great baby sister :-)
ReplyDeleteI like to think I am a great baby sister ;)
DeleteNone of them would trade me, that's for sure.
I'm sorry about your brother. I can't even imagine how hard that would be.
ReplyDeleteYou all look like a fun bunch!
We are a fun bunch. And yes it was/is hard, but being a believer in the eternal makes it all right.
DeleteThat is so sad about your brother, Elizabeth :( Thanks so much for sharing about your family and for helping Jenny and myself out!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kelley. More than happy to help out some friends. :)
DeleteSorry to hear that your brother, Ken, passed. I lost a sister eight years ago to ovarian cancer. I know how you must feel. Try to look ahead.
ReplyDeleteCancer is an evil beast, huh Fanny? Sorry to hear of your loss too. Hugs...with friends and love we get through it.
DeleteLife is surely short indeed, hopefully you no longer get wedgies at your feed lol
ReplyDeleteNope. No more wedgies. My brother was always the biggest wedgie giver...guess I don't have to worry until I hit the Pearly Gates!
DeleteMy second oldest brother passed away at 30. It's hard losing them isn't it? But all those sweet memories... Life is meant to be bittersweet, I think. We need the pain to appreciate the sunshine. Here's to wonderful siblings and the meaning love they bring to our lives!
ReplyDeleteIt's totally hard Crystal. Sorry to know you understand that. But you're right. Pain does help us appreciate the good times and the good people around us.
DeleteI'm the youngest too, but I'm pretty sure I wasn't a tattle-tale. Nope, not me. And if my brother says, I was, he's lying. :)
ReplyDeleteI was a total tattle tale! I was so bad. I used to blackmail them. It was my best source of income!
DeleteTo Ken!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Kelly and Jenny. I have 2 brothers and a sister. I'm #2 and the eldest female. I don't see my siblings much. We're all so spread out. My brother made my website though - the younger one.
Your little brother is a talented guy! One sister lives in South Carolina, but the other two are local. But really, she can't move far enough away to escape us ;)
DeleteYou're the baby. Awww! I love the baby of my family. She's special too.
ReplyDeleteAnd again, great cover!
Being the baby does have so many perks! My big sisters really watch out for me.
DeleteCongrats to Kelly and Jenny! I'm the oldest with one little brother. I'm the quiet, responsible one.
ReplyDeleteI can see that! You seem like the responsible type!
DeleteLovely family pics, Elizabeth. And a great tribute to your brother.
ReplyDeleteYeah. I totally get it about siblings. Congrats to Kelly and Jenny!
ReplyDeleteI am lucky to have so many good ones :)
DeleteI just can't even imagine the world without my siblings, that must have been incredibly hard. Your family is beautiful and they look like a kick in the pants.
ReplyDeleteFortunately for me, he left my sister-in-law and five wonderful kids to keep me loved and happy!
DeleteI'm very close to my sister and can't imagine losing her. I'm sorry about your brother.
ReplyDeleteNever imagine it, just appreciate and enjoy what you have Brinda.
DeleteHi Elizabeth,
ReplyDeleteA thoughtful story on so many emotional levels. I'm sorry to read about your beloved brother. I know your family will cherish the memories.
And now we are in the middle of somewhere. Take good care of YOU.
Gary
I will Gary. I will cherish and take care :)
DeleteBrothers are special. I have only one, three years my junior. He's been fabulous in these last months, but that's just who he is. Missing those we love is tough. Sending some hugs your way tonight. <3 (Is that the right symbol?) {{hugs}} I think I see that one too sometimes. :)
ReplyDeleteHugs, love...symbols are universal and appreciated much. Hugs back to you Jeff :)
DeleteYou have a sweet family. I'm sorry you lost your brother, but I'm glad he made a wonderful impression.
ReplyDeleteThis book looks awesome.
Thanks Medeia. He most definitely left a great impression!
