Christmas Prayers
It's a prayer fest! |
Merry Christmas!!
On the eve of this holiest of days in the Christian calendar, Mark Koopmans is hosting
50 States of Pray.
It's his hope that every state in the US will be represented by a blogger who shares a prayer, a reflection, or even a passing thought.
So, here is mine from the lovely state of
West Virginia.
West Virginia.
I'm the simple praying sort, so I won't try to fancy it up here.
First and foremost, I thank God for seeing me through another year. I may have spent most of it asking for more of this and less of that, but even in my less than grateful moments...I am aware of what a gift another year is.
Thanks for my friends and family. And for the roof above my head.
Help me be content. I know I am neither the best nor the worst, so help me be satisfied with the gifts He has given me.
Keep my family and friends safe and bring them blessings in the coming year.
And somewhere, someone is hurting. Help me to be mindful that most of my frustrations are mere annoyances compared to the suffering of others.
Lead me to do what is right. Forgive me when I do wrong.
Amen...and thanks again.
Amen, Elizabeth. You said it all in few words, but very meaningful and heartfelt ones. Have a wonderful Xmas.

Thanks Robyn. Hope you had a wonderful holiday also.
DeleteAmen, eSister :)
ReplyDeleteSay it succinct - but say it like you mean it :)
Merry Christmas to y'all :)
Totally meant it!
DeleteIt's short and sweet...like me :)
Beautifully said. Happy holidays.
ReplyDeleteThanks Medeia! Happy holidays to you too :)
DeleteA really wonderful prayer. We all ought to be grateful for God's gifts.
ReplyDeleteWe have so many blessings we usually over look. And yes, we need to have a gracious spirit.
DeleteHi, Elizabeth. That was a beautiful prayer!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Susanne :)
DeleteAmen, Elizabeth. And it's all right to ask. He knows what we really need and want.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
I agree Alex. I don't care what it is I ask for, I prefer He just give me what He knows I need!
DeleteDitto! Amen!
ReplyDeleteThanks Donna!
DeleteLovely prayer, Elizabeth. :)

Jolly good! I need to return the visit.
DeleteDear Elizabeth,
ReplyDeleteWonderfully stated, my lovely friend. And on this Christmas Day, indeed, we can feel blessed and think of others who need a moment of comfort.
A peaceful, hopeful Christmas to you and your loved ones.
In kindness and goodwill, your friend,
Gary, also visiting from England :)
Ah Gary, my equally lovely friend, I hope you have a year filled with happiness, prosperity, and health. Hugs!
DeleteMerry Christmas, Elizabeth.
ReplyDeleteThanks Peaches. I hope yours was blessed.
DeleteMerry Christmas ELIZABETH!
ReplyDeleteHope you and your family had a wonderful day! Yes, thank God for surviving another year with all its wonders. WE may have down times in our lives, but we know we have his love to guide us through the most challenging times of our lives.
You said it perfectly Michael. I guess we aren't promised constantly peaceful waters, but we are promised a life boat.
DeleteI loved your simple prayer. I'm also the simple prayer type. :-D
ReplyDeleteHope you had a wonderful Christmas time.
Thanks Misha! Hope your Christmas was equally as wonderful.
DeleteElizabeth you have a similar outlook to me, I know how precious each day is and the blessings we receive in them. You have such a sweet prayer that I know God received with a smile. Here is hoping your success multiplies as much as your outreach for Him.
ReplyDeleteAs I read your comment, I couldn't help but think, "I hope so!" Pleasing Him would be the ultimate...I mean I owe so much, that's the least I could do right?
DeleteYes, we're good at asking for this and that! But it's good to know that we are thankful for the everyday blessings and miracles that come our way! Writer’s Mark
ReplyDeleteAmen Nancy! Got to remember to count the small blessings.
DeleteBeautiful prayer. I hope your had a wonderful Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kimberly! Hope yours was wonderful too.
DeleteHi Elizabeth - it's always good to do more for others .. and be thankful for the joys we do have ..

ReplyDeleteHello to you too Lee :)
DeleteAmen! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Hope yours was equally as good :)
Delete"lead me to do what is right". So much said in so few words. Super, super.
ReplyDeleteThanks CD...much appreciated.
DeleteWell said, Elizabeth! I hope your Christmas was lovely, and New Year even lovelier. So glad to have gotten to know you better this year! ((hugs))
ReplyDeleteAnd I am blessed to know you! (I intentionally surround myself with talented people). Hope 2014 is a year of blessings for you.
DeleteHugs right back to you!
The best prayers, for me, are never "fancied up." This was terrific. I'll be carrying it with me into the New Year. I hope you have a wonderful 2014.
ReplyDeleteGreat minds (and Elizabeths) think alike!
DeleteThank you for reminding me that my problems are never as bad as someone else's suffering.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a great Christmas :-)
My pleasure. Nothing brought that fact home quicker than being on facebook. Seeing people whine over a head cold next to a post about someone's cancer treatment was an eye opener!
DeleteI loved your post. I think the ability to be content (along with a sense of humor) are the most important things to cultivate in one's life. I'm wishing you a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2014!
ReplyDeleteI can;t agree with you more! I work hard on the contentedness...the sense of humor, I was born with. Thank God!
DeleteHope you're having a wonderful holiday, Elizabeth! Merry Between the Holidays! Hope you hit the bestsellers lists in 2014!
ReplyDeleteFrom your lips to God's ears sweet Mary! I offer you the same hope. I'd love to tell people, "I knew her when..."
DeleteWhat a beautiful, heartfelt prayer. Thank you for sharing, and hope you've enjoyed the holidays!
ReplyDeleteThanks Shallee. Hope yours were awesome too. :)
DeleteI'm sorry I missed out on this great blog fest. This is a wonderful idea and what a great prayer/post. Many blessings to you and yours in 2014 Elizabeth!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe Mark will do it again next year! Hope your holidays were awesome!
DeleteAmen! Great post. :D
ReplyDeleteThanks Debra!
DeleteThanks. Hope yours was very merry :)
