Sebastian Falls

Special celebration here today!

One of my best writer buddies and honestly, one of the best friends I have never met is launching her first book!

Celeste and I first “met” like, oh my… four or five years ago? We were both *stalking* the same agent’s Facebook page and doing the awesome “full” dance together.

Well, said agent hit major personal crisis and dropped out of the publishing biz. So, Celeste and I collected our mannies and realizing there is safety in numbers, we traveled the submission road together.

And since that time, Celeste has supported me through rejection, dejection, and even the death of my father. She is always just an email and a prayer away. I would never have made it to where I am without this little lady pushing (sometimes dragging!) me along.

Publication has been a long journey, but it's so much better with a friend!

Now-
Here's what the hub-bub is about!

I loved this book on so many levels! (And so did my boys who were excited to get to be betas!)
The characters are good; the story is unique; and the setting makes the imagination hum. All that goodness aside, this book touched me at a spiritual level also. I won't give away the plot. But I will say this is the kind of story that keeps you actively discussing and considering the what-ifs from the central theme of the story. If our maker gives us talents, but also trusts us with free will, what path would we choose? What if Hitler's charisma was used for good and not evil? Ted Bundy's genius used to save lives rather than end them. Meadow is one of the chosen. She is gifted beyond normal human levels, so now good and evil battle to win her soul...though ultimately, the choice is hers.

I'd Like to Thank the Academy...No? Then I'll Thank the Bloggers...

Rena at Doctor Faerie Godmother offered me this award and I'm happy to accept it. Thanks Rena!

Here are my answers to Rena's Questions:

a.        What naive misconception did you have about writing books when you started? I honestly thought if my first draft wasn't magic, then I must suck. I imagined writers sat down and spun tales as easily as the Harlem Gobe Trotters spin basketballs.  Reality is, both take practice.

b.      What is your favorite part of writing? The actual writing. I always thought the book signings and such would be the best part, and I do love it....but it's the pulling the chair up to the computer desk and getting to work that keeps my blood flowing.

c.       What is the one thing you would change about publishing and why? I think right now is a marvelous time to be a writer. There are so many more options open that didn't exist a few years ago. As of right now, I'd change nothing.

d.      Do you have an inspiration list? Not really. I read my Bible and pray before I write. God created the world with words; they are powerful little things. I always want to use them wisely!

e.       If you were a super villain, what would be your fatal flaw? Insecurity. All someone would have to say is, "You look fat in those jeans!" and I'd have to stop, whine about it, and then seek reassurances from friends. During that time my evil empire would be infiltrated!

f.       If you were a super hero, what would be your super power? I'd be an empath. I was a quiet child, so I listened more than I talked. I think that helped me be better in tune with what people are feeling than if I was a loud, active sort of kid.

g.      If you could go on a trip to a tropical island but you didn’t get to pack anything before you left, would you go? Yes. If I can take my Visa. It's everywhere I want to be.

And Linda King of Excuse Me While I Note That Down offered me this award. Of course I love it!!! Thank you Linda!

Now both awards require I add 7-11 random things about myself. I split the difference, used my amazing math skills and will add 9 things About Me!

1. I was not a cheerleader in high school.
2. Everyone always thinks I was a cheerleader in high school.
3. I have nothing against high school cheerleaders.
4. I am as awkward as the whitest white girl on the dance floor.
5. I have zero coordination and often trip going up steps.
6. Although I have the perkiness, above mentioned flaws stopped me from ever considering being a cheerleader in high school.
7. My best friend in high school was a cheerleader. She wasn't really perky, but could do a back hand spring.
8. I can't even do a summersault.
9. I really don't give a damn that I can't tumble or cheer. If I want to live the life of a high school cheerleader, I'll write about it.

Thanks ladies!! I appreciate the awards, and the fact that you thought of me. :)

Now, I've seen these awards around, so I am going to only pass them on to a single blogger. She's new, she's fresh, and she's always in my inbox...Ms. Celeste Holloway of Words Done Write!

Tour Trifecta...

Happy wintry Monday morning!

That sentence seems about as congruent as saying, "Oh what a cute, cuddly piranha!"

Mondays stink and I vote that we end winter as soon as the Christmas lights go dark.

Soooo...while I work on the Shorter Winter/ Quicker Spring campaign, I invite you all to enjoy some hot posts for the HEALING SUMMER blog tour to warm you up.

And they are brought to you by this trifecta of female fun...

Welcome ladies!!! While you write, your avatars can sing!

The fabulous Angie Cothran of Live to Write, Edit When Necessary wants to know about writing pitfalls.

The heavenly Celeste Holloway of Words Done Write wants to know, "Should we tell the scaredy cats hiding out in bunkers that the world DIDN'T end and they can come out now?"

And the blogosphere's favorite redhead, Morgan Shamy ponders, "Who are the Seckmans?"

The redhead really is "out"...got an email from Morgan this morning and she's in the midst of revisions and taking a blog break. She'll be back later, so until then...send Morgan some good revision vibes and bests of luck!

This is the second week of the HEALING SUMMER blog tour. Be sure to check out all the Tour Page. There is a list of all the stops and the prompts.

Hello!

I'm not here today...

I'm hanging with a buddy, Celeste Holloway.

So come on over to her place, Words Done Write, and chat with us about virgins.

Oh, and I have an little announcement.
