Why the Weeds?

Every couple has their thing. For my husband and myself it is the dandelion. It's 'our flower'. My husband is a notorious tight wad and when he told the guys he works with that he gathers dandelions as a romantic gesture, they thought he was most likely headed for divorce. What woman considers a weed romantic?
This one.
I wrote this poem for my husband while we were in college.
(Then I turned it in for a grade, cause truth be told, I'm NOT a poet. If you look closely, the professor's corrections are still on the paper. I got an A- on it. I cut that off; the minus shamed me. I wanted a +!)
So, now you know. There is a reason for the weeds.

  1. That is truly beautiful. I never thought of a dandelion that way :) I guarantee I'll never look at one the same again.

    1. Thanks Megan. When my oldest son was little, he called them wish flowers...I thought that was sweet and added to their appeal for me.

  2. Wow, that really is beautiful. Not for nothing, I used to make wishes and blow on them when I was a little girl. Your son had the right idea. :D

  3. Now that's a realistic love poem. I love violets for many of the same reasons. ;)

  4. What a lovely poem. I don't think of dandelions as weeds because my grandmother used the leaves for stews and to make baby food.
